What a great learning experience
Congratulations! I remember my DTQ that I started on a whim in 2020 and ended in 2023. It is still my first and only DTQ and the amount of love I found for these games creating my team was wonderful. You grow a strong attachment to every team member and the personal journey of reaching each goal sticks with you. Mareep took me the longest and I got pokerus before I even found it. Despite using static, I phased on two rats and a bellsprout. I wasn’t counting at the time, but this hunt was near 250 hours. The elation I felt finding my mareep can never be taken away; I will always love my DTQ file and it made me love the game even more as a result.

3 years and STILL haven't beaten battle factory without looking up sets online or straight up creating save state before the battle and after losing I return to it again and try again
People nowadays are challenging themselves with nuzlockes aka nuzleaflocks but BATTLE FACTORY is where it's IMPOSSIBLE

I like the idea of going for shiny pokemon. Then i seen 3 or 4 guys sat round a table with around 8 gameboys each and i suddenly think im not made for this life 😂

I felt this way with platinum. It was my first game and it lead to alot of stuff. I got my first shiny on that game when i thankfully knew what a shiny was and, i still have her. It was my first time discovering what pokerus was and then, finding a Poketuber that i still watch on and off (when he uploads) i found an Easter egg with crogunk in pastoria city when no one else was talking about it.
I kinda miss the days where you got to experience stuff without knowing but now, everyone is spoiling major plots and you have to speed run them just to avoid them...
But i did buy heart gold (for 130 dollars) and just recently defeated red. I used a mix of my team from platnuim and my team from heart gold. It was hard.

fantastic vid! my own soulsilver dtq will have started 3 years ago in a couple of months and it is my first time ever playing through a johto game! i only have 1 target left (steelix) before i can take on the elite four which i will pick back up after safari week (or maybe during safari week since onix is in the zone)
Can't wait to see the final team! Best of luck on your last target. I did the Magnet Pull hunt for Steelix in Cliff Cave - you can make it 100% iirc, but Safari Onix would be SO cool!

man its crazy. i have always loved shiny hunting and did on some older games. but never tried a sbq until like 2 months ago. i hopped back on SS and got totodile! still going now

I remember when I first bought a newly HG in 2010, on my very first playthrough, I caught myself a shiny Rattata between Slowpoke Well and Union Cave. I was kinda disappointed when it evolved to a red Raticate. Good times. Since then, I've caught a handful - Slowpoke, Aipom, Metapod, Geodude, Drowzee (my second one, first one was on the original Gold version). Fun story; back in the early-2000's, I started playing a new game with a Totodile. Early in the game, I encountered a shiny Sentret. Totodile was 3-4 levels higher and Scratch attack. Then, a freaking critical hit happened. Shiny Sentret fainted.

Gonna do some Heartgold hunts pretty soon. Not gonna do a starter because i just don't wanna end up with a Chikorita lol. Gotta play through to get to the Bulbasaur hunt and transfer up my Deoxys

At the moment I grind for the second shiny …..more than 65 hours and it goes on.

Hahaha I just finished my HG DTQ recently too. It’s such a great game and putting together your shiny team feels so great.
edit: upon checking with my phases I actually have essentially completed a full (16) badge quest

wish i had that many heart gold copies aswell! truly best game ever! I remember getting a shiny pidgey on the 1st day the game released on america, i also got a shiny donphan on victory road when i was about to face the elite four and many more shinies since i had so much luck in that game, but those are the most memorable ones that were on my journey without shiny hunting :D

It took me a little more than a year to pass Heart Gold with only shiny and it was incredible, my team; Typhosion, Umbreon, Gyarados, Dratini (did not evolve), Ho-oh and Electrode

I love how much I agree with this man about HGSS. I first played it when I was six and I have played through the game many more times since.
Done the same finshed last march, went for a shiny dream team, had feraligator, scizor, smeargal, bellossom, jynx and Persian two 2 years but worth it (got meowth and scyther from full odds eggs)

49 for the starter is insane to me. i randomly decided to xomplete my first ever shiny starter hunt with my og copy of ultra moon i started at some point in eleventh grade and now im two years out of highschool i took some small breaks here and ther otherwise been consistent and still nothing. but i wont give up and waste all that time either so im locked in still i hope i get it someday soon before i get way to busy with life and i am unable to put time into a long hunt like this one.
@@gamer-jm6my definitely one of my shortest hunts ever! I ended up hunting all of the Johto starters in a video, and had another really quick shiny, but my target took over 15k lol
@@Kwikpanik dang15k is a lot I’m glad yours went quick this is my first time doing a shiny starter hunt and being committed. I tried a handful of times when I was a kid but as a kid I did not have the paitence to stick with a starter hunt for more than a. Month or two before I would give up. I’m way too deep now to give up. Sadly I don’t have a number of resets done I don’t keep track of resets because then it just makes it feel like a mind numbing chore just slowly watching the number counter go up. But I imagine it would have to be decently high by now lol. I just finished hunting till my 3ds died so I’m giving it a break for now. At least when I finally get it will be a cool memory but at this rate with how long this one took I dought I would try again on a different game just takes way to long lol I just wanted to do it once to say I did it lol

@@Kwikpanik yes honastly looking back I wish I woulda so I knew for sure where I stood odds wise but I also understand why for my reasons I don’t. I’m sure the number had potential to be super high at this point I won’t give up though I’m to far in. I hope I get it soon though. I believe during my first playthrough of this game Rowlet was my first starter as well marking the first time I played through a new game not with the water starter I usually always chose the water starter lol. If I ever get it I’ll update you haha that will be hype. It is my og cartridge where I completed countless legendary shines and other shinies as well so the luck is on this cartridge no dought haha

Fastest ✨ I ever got was the dratini you get from the dragon elder. One SR. Only problem was that I didn’t know if you answer the question wrong, you still get a dratini but with no extreme speed. I was so mad 😂

But hey I'm also hunting the shiny poipole in ultra moon and I'm at 1750 now and still no shiny yet 😂. I guess my shiny luck these days are going downhill when it comes to full odds but I'm not that far yet compared to HG roamers so we'll see. 😆

So, any idea how many encounters you've done since starting the channel?
I haven't really kept track the whole time, but in 2023, I did 265,000 encounters in generation 2-8 games (I don't count encounters in SV). I started hunting seriously in 2019. That should give you an estimate!

How do you play Pokemon HeartGold in the 3Ds?
@@psykozen_ it's a legitimate HeartGold DS cartridge. 3DS plays regular DS and 3DS cartridges.
Does anyone actually know why everything is so low-leveled in johto? Like is it to make the post-game not too difficult? Like it actually physically bothers me lol
