- With these Whites semi dress boots the customer wanted to convert from the ultimate chunk look of double midsole and leather sole with rubber half sole. We went back with just one leather midsole with rubber half sole.

Wow those boots where built like a brick house from whites. I can totally see why someone might not be ready for that and want a sleeker look like you provided. They're about 3/4th's dress now, well done.

Why was this resoled? It seemed the original sole had tons of life left. Maybe I missed something or was the owner just wanting to change it?
EDIT: I watched Vintage Future’s video just now. I see he went from double sole to normal sole. Didn’t catch that in this footage but I see it now.

Could you have channeled the outsole before stitching it for more durability?
Yes, some people channel the rubber half sole to inset the stitching a little more, we usually channel on leather soles but not always on rubber soles. If the rubber sole is channeled sometimes the stitching will cause it to split, especially at the toe. It's sort of a compromise either way

Is that the standard V-bar/700 heel? It looks thinner than the other ones I've seen.
Yes, it is a standard 700 whole heel that we converted into a half heel.

Wait so, was that both a stitch-down construction as well as a goodyear welt? I don't think I've ever seen that... Good stuff though, keep it up!
It's sort of a combination handwelt/stitchdown. They have the upper turned out like standard Stitchdown but the footbed is also channeled and stitched through, which is uncommon for other Stitchdown construction boots i.e. Wesco, viberg, Nick's
They add another flap of leather that is welted through the upper and footbed and is then folded down and stitched through the outsole as well, an attempt to add handwelted security but keep them as waterproof as possible maybe?
@@UnsungHouse Wow, that's crazy, but yeah I can definitely see how that might add an extra layer to the structural integrity. But that outer flap being stitched to the footbed as well makes me think it might negate the "waterproofing" you get from a traditional stitch-down construction... Are all Whites boots made this way? Can't say I ever noticed that about them, although I have to admit I haven't seen many Whites being taken apart/built.
@@pmeknebur Only their higher end boots are hand welted like that (they call it a "rolled welt"). They have other models that are stitchdown and Goodyear welted.
