    *This video is a broad overview of the different character classes in Diablo IV. Not going to bother with Tier List rankings because I think at this point its a waste of time. We could only play to lv 25 in the beta and everything is subject to change. Instead I chose to focus on a broad overview and talk about the pros and cons of each character class. Hopefully you guys enjoy the video. Later on in the week I will be posting a final impressions video*

    Some important insights regarding druid: 1) We didnt get to play with druid class specialization, where you can pick up to 5 (!) strong passive bonuses (like 3% max hp heal every crit with shapeshift skills). 2) Druid is the only class who has crushing blow, devs just took it out for beta. Everyone here surely knows how OP crushing blow is, and if its druid only.... 3) Druid offers more than triple of build diversity than other classes, since he has most talents to choose from and his legendaries are craaaaaaazy specific. 4) MANY things in beta were bugged for druid, making him feeling weaker - raven pets stopped attacking after some time, talents that increase spirit cost but also buff damage only increase the spirit cost without actually buffing damage. 5) Druid is the "synergy" class. Once you are able to combine spells and talents, he becomes very good, but makes him weak early on. Barb has more legendary slots. Necro is least dependant on gear. Rogue is doing nice moaning and wheezing noises. Sorc has most flavour and ability to persue very specific build or playstyle. We simply experienced only the worst druid has to offer, but we cant judge him based on that.

    DB, always a pleasure!
    I levelled a Barbarian to 25 during the closed beta & only really struggled vs the boss at the level 25 stronghold. I ran out of time in the beta so I didn’t actually have time to get some better gear, I had him almost beat a couple times. Resource / skill management felt good to me on him but I didn’t mess about with build to much either as I didn’t have time due to work.
    Open beta a levelled a Druid to 25 with some good legendary items. It feels like the generation of Spirit needs a good buff, I didn’t take the passive skill that gave up to 30% increase as points were so limited. I also find the fact some skills also have cool downs (which to me at base need shortening) a bit of an odd mix. One of the other to me is better for a class.
    I made a werewolf build & had the werewolf companions that spread rabies. Went all in on poison & it worked quite nicely, didn’t struggle against anything really but the TTK on some elites was in sane, more so then say Den Mother. One dungeon with goat men must’ve taken me 25 mins to clear & the pack of elites took me 10 or so mins to kill. Crazy.
    I did level & Necro to 20 also with a corpse explosion build so I’ve seen two side of the coin playing two melee builds & I have to say it was such a shift in experience. Was literally taking me a quarter of the time to clear the same content.
    I still want to play as a Druid, I want to play a shape shifting build. Kind of glad the overwhelming opinion is that it needs tweaking & they’ll do so before launch.
    Two things that I found just from a skill usages in general.
    1) it feels like you’re really hamstrung on the skill bar. If you want an ult in your rotation it should be on say R2+L2 or right thumb stick (playing Xbox) to free up a single use button.
    2) Generally speaking I didn’t think any ults were worth loosing an active skill slot for. Due to the really long cool down & they just seemed not worth it in general. Call of the ancients felt poor as did the werewolf one for Druid too was even worse.

    I found druids gen to be slightly low, but it smoothed out very quickly by specing into the 30% increased gen node, and ran blood howl with the increased attack speed. Ran the ranged storm basic, and it does require actual positional gameplay but id be full spirit in 2-4 basics. It felt rewarding to use up to for basics also after getting the legendary that scales a core skill dmg after doing a few basics.

    The druid build that I had a blast with and noticed some great synergies was Stormstrike, Lightning Storm, Wolf Companion, Blood Howl, Earthen Bulwark and Hurricane. The blood howl was a instant 20% heal + IAS which helped slightly with spirit generation. Earthen bulwark was a nice unstoppable to pop when needed and a huge barrier. Between those two i literally forgot about using potions except for some boss encounters. Outside of that the Stormstrike applied vulnerable in an AoE fashion which worked nicely with lightning storms nice AoE damage. Hurricanes slow and Lightning strikes immovable worked nicely with the wolf companions ability to apply increased damage to crowd controlled enemies let me 1 shot most elites. I used this build from the get go and nuked packs of mob packs with ease and it worked nicely with bosses barely while barely using potions.

    There was a build problem with Necromancer. You could get an aspect that would make it so your Blood Mist (turn immune for 3 sec) skill would detonate all nearby corpses, and reduce bloodmist's cooldown for each corpse detonated, by up to 3 seconds if put on a 2h weapon. This combined with corpse-generating skills and skill-upgrades would make you able to chain-cast blood mist and be perma-immune. Besides, it had no cast time on detonating the corpses, so it could literally blow up 20 corpses instantly and obliterate anything.

    I leveled two melee rogues to 25. It would be difficult to say which skills I prefer because both playthroughs were a blast. Both felt fairly strong compared to Druid and Barb. On par with Sorc. Faster to kill stuff than my Necro builds, but I chugged a lot of potions too. Necro is strong, but slow, and most people consider speed and strength to be the same thing. I'll probably start with a Necro but always also have a melee Rogue. Rogue was just too much fun.

    First legendary I found for Necro was dagger that makes corpse explosion every time I touch corpse as blood mist (skill that turns you into blood mist and you are immune). Then I also somehow got (don't remember if that was legendary or skill upgrade) cooldown reduce on blood mist every time corpse explosion blows up or something. Then also got legendary that cancel movement penalty on blood mist and blood mist to leave one corpse per sec on the ground With all those I was able to be pretty much in blood mist form all the time (so immune to everything) doing sometimes 10 corpse explosions in one sec. Every time I have seen big group of mobs ahead I was smiling :)

    It is going to be a more difficult levelling experience at launch since they really upped the amount of legendary drops in the beta so the item dependent classes will be even harder! But at the same time the barbarian will probably be OP late game due to having more weapon slots for more additional aspects than any other class! Also the druid may really pick up in power once we have access to those spirit boons as well that not many people seem to be considering... I'm overall quite happy with the game. It had some bugs and issues in the beta but it was overall quite fun and fresh after playing many hours in D3 and thousands of hours in D2! June can't come quick enough!

    Leveled a Wizard and Rogue, both were super fun. Looking forward to the release as the end game content is going to be a surprise. The problem with the beta is lvl 25 is a small glimpse at the overall game. Just like any other Diablo leveling up is 1% of the game then 99% of the real content is the end game grind for paragon / the best gear. I'm impressed with the glimpse of the 1% we've seen but am very interested in what the actual end game will feel like.

  • @nuadai
    @nuadai Год назад

    I played only Druid and Sorceress, so I'll comment only on them two.
    First, let me say that the thing I like the most about games of whatever sort is building the characters and finding the different synergies between their skills and items.
    So, the Sorc is very powerful, that's obvious to anyone. She'll probably get nerfed across the board.
    What I liked the most about the class is the Unique Mechanic, which is deceptively simple and quite ingenious.
    It is often build defining, or could otherwise simply allow for unique twists on the build you're making.
    Frost Nova seems like the strongest and most versatile Enchantment to me, which you can slot in any build whatsoever (even only as an Enchantment), especially with the Vulnerable upgrade.
    What I didn't like is the Key Passives, which are all quite strict and are not suitable for hybrid builds. Aside from only the DR Lightning one (and only half of its effect), and the Shatter one if used with Frost Nova.
    As for the Druid, its biggest (or possibly only) problem is expressed in NUMBERS. Either the cooldowns are too long, or the damage is too low. Mainly the damage is too low. Bump up the damage just enough to improve the leveling experience and everything will be perfect.
    Another thing that might be perceived as a problem is resource generation, but maybe it fits in the "NUMBERS" category too. Some passive regeneration, or just increased generation from Basic skills will fix it. Some items and other effects might make it better in the late game, but it is still kinda annoying to watch Sorcerers get from 0 to 100% Mana in 2sec while kiting and doing nothing.
    The thing I agree with you is that Druid is gonna be gear-dependent.
    From what I have seen (which I'm unsure if all of it's official info), the items are what will define the build of a Druid.
    The Unique mechanic is rather boring and just complements the character.
    But the items are going to be what mixes things up and allows for unique hybrid takes along with the Key Passives.
    I'm already having enormous fun making different builds for the Druid and Sorceress, even if there's a chance they'll not be available after launch due to whatever changes.

    I entirely agree that we are spending way too much time fixated on the Balance for the beta. Numbers tweeks can be done in half an hour and completely turn balance on its head. I think its way more informative to talk about how each playstyle feels and if there are a variety of build options for doing different types of content.
    Personally, despite being arguably the strongest in beta, I felt the sorc lacked interest as the entire class boiled down to Light, Cold, or fire, and pretty clear build paths beyond that, where the two new classes (druid and necro) had entirely different feels depending on how you chose to build them out. Now that is a subjective opinion, but its a comparison that seems lost in a lot of discussion about DPS or clear speed, and I'm glad you eluded to it.

  • @basicallyimhilly
    @basicallyimhilly Год назад

    while I do think balance is a crucial part of gameplay, I'm not too opposed to some classes having a somewhat harder time than others getting through stuff. I played the druid through the open beta and while it was definitely generally weaker than other classes, I still had a blast with the genuine difficulty of each boss that I encountered - every boss was memorable because I had to actually try to win. On the other hand, the sorcerer is the classic starter character where the game comes easy to them, and I think a basic and powerful class like that existing is good for speedrunners and just those new to the franchise that want to dip their toes in without a significant challenge. I do wish the Druid could better compare to other classes but at the same time it's neat having a playstyle that puts your ARPG expertise to the test.

I had to choose between corpse Explo or summon when my minions fell to bosses (all the time, even with the Master perk) as both abs consumed the corpse. The Rogue and Barb just steamrolled over bosses, no challenge there, and sorc was really squishy and weak on alot of the bosses with adds(Spider boss).

    There were several legendaries that fundamentally improved the druid. For example, I found one that gave me 25 life (or fortify) every time I switched to a human form. When you combined bear and earth, it was quite powerful since you would get damage bonuses and stun/immobilise bonuses from being fortified. Before this legendary, the druid class felt extremely derpy where none of the skills really tied well into other skills even when they were in the same "category".
    From this, I feel like that some of the legendary effects should be just class skills that you can put points into. The existing effects are just plain meh and have little to no impact.

    Regarding the comment "sorceress has no unique play style".
    Perhaps many of them are similar, but I went a high crit chain lightning/crackling energy build that worked best in melee range of enemies. The build didn't feel as good as some of the hydra based builds seemed to be, but it felt unique in my opinion.

    I enjoyed druid, barb and rogue, my least favorite when the necro and sorc because they are too stupidly easy, there is D3 for this. I would hope that they go the other direction and slow down these two classes as I really enjoy the slower leveling process. IMO. The other issues is that this was only to lvl 25 and there is so much more to be discovered.

    People really need to hold onto their panties. This was a lvl 25 beta where not every class has access to the same stuff. Barb and druid had neither of their specials. Not only that, their trees appeared to be geared towards higher levels. Their skills were ok, but there is tons of amp damage on the trees. At first, I thought cataclysm was pretty terrible. There is a whole tree on the other side that boosts lightning and that skill. There just want enough points to put into them. The other skills were strong early. Not only that cataclysm was constantly hitting ashava for damage because she was in the screen the whole time. The barb bleed build will be pretty op with the 100% bleed damage and blood explosions capstone. You just didn't get points to put into it.

    I found the Druid the most fun to play. Loved the variety of skills and the flavor of them all. I agree with you it does feel less powerful than sorc, but so did all the other classes. Should be slow down make you feel some effort to get that last skill

    • @pursuitolikes5217

      It's fast because the legendary drop rates were increased by 3x for the beta, thus the early power creep was obviously amplified...leveling with a lot less legendaries will be much slower.

    Storm/Landslide Druid is really solid for all the haters out there. Is the start a bit slower? It definitely is but lots of games start slow (D2, WoW classic). Arc lash for sorcs is an OP starter and then necros having skeletons right out of the gate was just silly

  • @brenosulzbacher

    I didn't like the effectiveness of corpse explosion at all. Maybe the damage will not scale so well later in the game, but I doubt It. It just made almost completely irrelevant to test the other skills. It doesn't make any sense that the tiniest of enemies can produce a corpse that detonates with no resourse cost whatsoever. No mana or cooldown! You just procede to chain CE and that's a wrap. Meanwhile any melee is being completely miserable trying to attack and manage resources. I don't know If it need chance, but I would make so that certain enemies didn't drop corpse large enough, or even give the corpses classes like"small-medium-large" and scale the damage based on the size. I see that a lot of people loved necro, but for me it felt too "cheap".

  • @jwest88
    @jwest88 Год назад

    That barbarian game play hurts me. All those" immune! " constantly popping up and the conduit shrine, I really wish the conduit shrine had died with D3. Just an utterly ridiculous thing. I'm not a fan of a bunch of cooldowns and resource generator/spender builds/mechanics. I found a lot of my skill choices when leveling were based on if it has a long cooldown choose something else. I do admit that the Necro was really fun to play though. The Reaper class of skeleton summons spawned corpses when attacking enemies, that's what I used on bosses and in general. Having no resource cost felt kind of busted for corpse explosion, but I'm not sure how I'd change it. I'm scared they'll slap another cool down into the game for "balance".
    Didn't get anyone to 25 besides the necro; I was already tired of having to follow npcs around and wait to talk to them in the position I was allowed to talk to them in then hit escape to skip dialogue or cutscenes. I got the gist of the game, the break in pace and combat of how the story is implemented put me off wanting to get them all to 25.

    My problem with druid is the leveling experience. If you tell me that crappy, slow and weak leveling is intended then the game has a problem because most people won't willingly get themselves a class that give them a shit leveling experience. Not to mention, the gear addict that seems to be the druid after the devs said something along the lines of "characters won't be as gear dependant as in D3"; seems to me druid didn't get the memo.
