You can release all the 11mm bolts on the intake and lift it up just enough so you get a little room then you'll need a swivel e10 with an extension to get the bolt out. You dont have to remove the whole thing.
This is a way better setup than even the upgraded coolers on the stock location. Oh, and get an in-line 180 deg thermostat ASAP. Cold oil and boost is bad.
Great vid, as always! And very timely for me as I'm about to do the exact same install on mine. FYI, there's a lot of misinformation floating around about what cars had an oil cooler from the factory, i.e. sport package, manual trans, '08+, etc. Well, my 2009 with a manual trans and sport package had no OEM oil cooler. It sucks so that's why I am doing precisely what y'all did here. Really glad to see such a drop in temps! It gets kinda toasty here in Texas. :)
Making it look easy of course but still didnt seem to crazy to do cuz some of us didnt get the sport package ..very cool working on your boys car after all he did get you those shorts im sure.
There seems to be a lot of aftermarket support for the N54’s and N55 engines. I wish there was more upgrades like this available for the M54 motors. Kind of sucks. I’ve searched the web everywhere and there really just isn’t much available. Enjoy watching you guys do your thing though! You’re really good at what you do. Keep it up!
Hi guys. I thought the new housing has a build in thermostat . So it will not open untill a determined point is reached. Btw on E85 you have to make sure the oil is at operating temperature as soon as possible, to get rid of the water the engine oil contains, by running on E85. Don't know if his car runs on E85.....Keep up the good work, Dutch regards!
You only have to disconnect the charge pipe from the throttle body, push it down and then you have enough space to pull out the manifold about an inch that’s all you need and a socket with a swivel will fit. Took me an extra 5 minutes
The exact setup I was planning to buy from Dusty. Thanks. Quick question, the mounting bracket the oil cooler sits on is that resting on anything or do you need to place it at a height that reaches the top brackets? Couldn't see it much in the video.
does the oil pressure drop from installing this big oil cooler. Looking to upgrade my stock oil cooler to a bigger one. With normal driving around my oil temps sit at 220-230,
I'm a mechanic and I would definitely not put that on without a thermostat. That's a gigantic oil cooler and it's unregulated. You can do much more harm than good.
Why would you loosen up the housing bolts before the coolant hose you literally let the coolant and oil mixed together inside that gasket when you lifted it up
I have a tuned 2011 X3 xDrive35i, how do I know if I have an oil cooler and if I don’t, where can I get one? I know it’s not meant to be raced, but I do anyway, (I’d race a lawnmower if I had a willing competitor), so where can I get one? :)
The Sport package needed to come with 18 inch wheels from the factory to get the oil cooler. Any 335 with the Sport package and 17 inch wheels didn't get the oil cooler. Kind of ridiculous.
SuperManley1 Yeah, I was hoping he would mention checking the oil level after it was running. There’s prob .5 to 1 qt of oil in the cooler and lines. Also they need to run an inline 180deg thermostat to get the oil temps up faster. Driving 15 min on cold oil no e bueno.
I have been getting a loud buzzing noise from my engine when I shut it off. Or even when I put my car in accessory mode. It will last sometimes a couple minutes, any idea what it could be?
guys, my n54 just threw me a code that says combustion misfire in 3 cylinders and there’s an excessive amount of smoke that comes out of the exhaust and it shakes so much, do you have any idea on what it could be ??
Alberto Garcia if you contact psp they can give you everything or just the kit to upgrade a car that already has an oil cooler. If you live in a climate that sees winter you should opt for the one with a thermostat.
i mean it's probably smart to prime it to ensure its running through the system before you add any heat. he just took the spark plugs out and and cranked it over a few times so the oil wold travel to the cooler before he actual started it.
Any before/after data logs of water temp? I agree, this location isn't optimal... especially if you're not already using the driver/passenger fender locations for other cooler cores. Plenty of space on the 335i for the oil core to go in the OEM location or driver side fender. I had to also use this location for a custom tranny cooler on a track car but the core is much smaller. The fan doesn't come into play at high speeds, it's more for keeping water temps in check during slower driving.
@@spx.garage Can you direct me to where exactly the stock oil cooler bolts on to? I'm trying to install an OEM location cooler but I can't seem to find where it bolts on originally.
hell ya love to see a local shop getting some love on youtube. dusty is a awsome guy who is heavily involved in the utah bmw scene.

this is such a much better channel than those other e90 punk kids focus on vinyl wraping and shit. keep it up

Every time I watch this channel within 30 SEC's I want a 325i

:( poor m3... tired of getting messed up by the 335i' :(?
N54 swap and upgrade twins to big single or like legit boss twins and you have best of both worlds.
finally u uploaded again omg please don't late that much :(
Best thing to do is put an electronic thermastat on that si the oil temp can get up to temp asap
Dat wadu sound clip tho
I literally just picked up an OFH yesterday from a part out, so i could retrofit one to mine... early 07 build sport pkg auto
engine takes 7 litres, how much extra you add thanks.

yeah for sure needs thermostat else hes gonna fuck up that engine real good

Love the videos, man! Keep them going and the good work as well :)
Should run an external T-stat
Another excellent video really look forward to your videos I’ll say it again the best channel on you tube 👍👍
thanks for mentioning priming
Next time just undo the manifold bolts and move it to the side...no need to remove the manifold completely to do the oil filter housing
its on studs dont know how you can move it to the side
It can clear past the studs you will see
i love your videos and your 335 been watching since day 1
so for the housing, would you just need to find one that’s with the oil cooler slots (like one from a factory n54 that already had the oil cooler?)
Holy fuck I died at the wadu hek 😭😭😂😂😂😂😂😂
why the thermostat delete? Please explain..
Been looking for this DIY ~ thank you...now if o could just find a OF housing with cooler....
That's a really big joint in ear bro @ 5:38 puff puff pass
should have an external thermostat for oil cooler
The exact setup I was planning to buy from Dusty. Thanks. Quick question, the mounting bracket the oil cooler sits on is that resting on anything or do you need to place it at a height that reaches the top brackets? Couldn't see it much in the video.
Quick question hope i can get a answer quick can u run the after market oil cooler direct? With out needing a oil thermostat??
does the oil pressure drop from installing this big oil cooler. Looking to upgrade my stock oil cooler to a bigger one. With normal driving around my oil temps sit at 220-230,
When priming can you not just pull the fuse for fuel pump? or is that bad for hpfp?
Bro!!!!! You should've used a 1/4 e10 torx with a tiny swivel head and you wouldn't need to take off the manifold.
123456bmx I think that's N52's you can bypass the manifold but not N54/N55's.
Might be a little late. But about how much did this cost?
Need a racing thermostat bro. No thermostat poor combustion and engine performance and wear.
glenn chapital I was curious about this as well. Is a thermostat absolutely critical ? What do others think?
I'm a mechanic and I would definitely not put that on without a thermostat. That's a gigantic oil cooler and it's unregulated. You can do much more harm than good.
No oil thermostat?
How do you install the aftermarket oil cooler fitting that comes qith athe aftermarket oil cooler, I heard it connects to your oem oil cooler fittings
Why would you loosen up the housing bolts before the coolant hose you literally let the coolant and oil mixed together inside that gasket when you lifted it up

tonytube27 if your oil filter housing looks different to the one in the video then you can bet you have the oil cooler
Are u gonna upgrade your oil cooler?
Hey guys. Does your e92 have index12 injectors ? If not then what does it have ?
Anyone here knows where you can still get this or something similar? This item has been out of stock for a while now from the website.
Hey man, the song name? Btw top work you 2 are the funniest jackasses RUclips have xD

Any issues with leaking or sweating? @budgetbeemers?
how long does it take to get up to temp in the north east during winter?
hey what year is tristans 335 and could you provide a link for the m3 rep bumper thats on it
shit, just read the description
Did you have to add any extra oil? How many quarts do these cars take?
SuperManley1 Yeah, I was hoping he would mention checking the oil level after it was running. There’s prob .5 to 1 qt of oil in the cooler and lines.

cvanselus you have the psp front mount?
Waterpump failed. Or tstat
It’s the water pump running to keep everything cool after you shut off the car
guys, my n54 just threw me a code that says combustion misfire in 3 cylinders and there’s an excessive amount of smoke that comes out of the exhaust and it shakes so much, do you have any idea on what it could be ??
Shitty coil packs or spark plugs maybe. That or your fuel injectors just shat out :(
how where the oil temps after this?
Did you have to buy anything besides the kit ? Did psp give you the new housing assembly and the gaskets ?
Alberto Garcia if you contact psp they can give you everything or just the kit to upgrade a car that already has an oil cooler. If you live in a climate that sees winter you should opt for the one with a thermostat.
Indiana Street Scene thanks !! Appreciate it a lot .
Hey I need Your help. U had some ignition coils ... the blue ones with zebra cake. Remember?? Where can I buy These. I need Powerful coils asap
Eli Varela precision raceworks
I believe oil temp should be right temperature and stay same, not too cold neither too hot. Isn't it too low?
eimantas28 my friend always said the car runs better if the oil is cooler
Are you sure? I will consider also doing this.
eimantas28 i'm sure, yes
do you have to prime it when you install a oil cooler? i didn't get what you did there
i mean it's probably smart to prime it to ensure its running through the system before you add any heat. he just took the spark plugs out and and cranked it over a few times so the oil wold travel to the cooler before he actual started it.
hey why did you prime the car ?
Bruh sick
This works on cars that have the stock oil intercooler too?
Yea
Sick
Couldn't this be mounted in front of the wheel on the passenger side? This way it doesn't take away cool air from the radiator behind it.
BEARmode if your cooling system is working properly you will be fine. The fan pulls a metric fuck ton of air.
BEARmode no this kit is specifically designed for front mount radiator setup. You could go the oem oil cooler route if you're worried about that.
I see. Thanks for the answers!

12:40 What kinda intakes are those??
I have a cooler in the front right wheel well, does anyone knows if that's an oil or water cooler?
Agustin Cuenca oil cooler
thanks random dude!
where do you gwt the 8.4o adapter plate
8.40
Would ur AC suffer now cause of cooler in front of condenser
Definitely not
Anyone got the links to the lines and fittings
Tell guy to turn his burble down, that does not sound good lol
Great I'll add this to my £9000 list of parts I already need to get. I'm starting to hear a m3 calling my name
XD still wont beat the 335i tho
But I hear what your saying
16:36 😂😂
do an engine swap video
I have there intakes :)
👨🔧🤦♂️
Why no Cristian in the video? It’s boring like that...
Oil it up! Faaaakk
Good video, bad language....
