When you state "when an idiot installs" all I thought was how perfect that is. Thank you for this video. Videos like this keep girls like myself from getting screwed over by greedy shops.
Thanks for this video!!!!! I had no clue the lower air dam was removable...I was easily able to remove it sliding into a snow mound during a storm. While looking up replacement parts and what I need to do I was ecstatic to find out it was easily replaceable. That said i took it one step further, found your video and figured, why not reinforce.
Just discovered this channel, and wanted to say thanks for the videos. Looking to install the Chief Front Guard, Sump Protection Plate, and Nudge Bar when they arrive later this month.
Noticed someone linked your video on chiefs website in the reviews 💪I have been watching it on repeat for the last three days, about to put on the lower front guard after work today.
@@ProdigalOverland Good cause I was looking and those were so not grade 8s and I was thinking of catastrophic failure if you had to use those hooks for a real recovery. Structural integrity is key on those points.
Looking at getting one myself, just have to see what all the previous people did first since it currently has a currently unknown brand lower front fascia guard and bull bar. But previous owner partially ripped off the plastic cover for windshield wiper fluid bottle
I wonder how the rust proofing of chief products stuff is. As in, how's it going to look after 10 Wisc winters? I keep vehicles. I've seen a lot of aftermarket step rails for pickups that rust almost immediately while all the OEM metal is fine.
A lot of people will just take off the front fascia when they go offroading and then put it back on when city driving. The whole process takes 5 minutes.
I don’t think that would work. It’s the chassis bracket that is blocking it as well as the front center section. I found it much easier to buy the shorter bolt. Again I didn’t have the tools to easily cut the bolt.
Good question! So I had a hard time getting all of the plastic trim. I was able to do the install all the same. So no it didn’t affect the installation. However, I have since removed the pieces. Because I had to take the front end off when I did the hidden winch mount. I could still see some of the plastic after I was done with the installation. So it wasn’t a very clean look. Some folks got in there using a small socket wrench. Hope that helps. Good luck
@@ProdigalOverland Thx for the quick reply. Got it. Can u please help with another question? Were u able to easily re-tighten the 30mm OEM tow hook nuts once the OEM plastic sump shield was re-installed? Just trying to figure out how to get access to the nuts again before I re-install the plastic shield. Looks like I may be able to get to one thru the oil filter opening in the shield. Thx!
It goes back on the way it came off. It will fit over the guard. But no we didn't put it back on. I trashed it. I didn't want to deal with the on and off every time we go out off road.
Will do. You might be right about the bumper. I wasn’t expecting to have to do that. I guess I wasn’t mentally prepared. Thanks for watching and for the feedback

Great video! 👍🏼
Great videos I started watching them because I was thinking about getting a Gand Cherokee very informative and great content 👍🏼
Would like way more video of the finished product
You have guts doing this stuff in the field. Hope the bolt you bought for the tow hook was grade 8. Up here those are yellowish.
It wasn't but it's been replaced. Thanks!
Thought the same thing
Are you going to add the new upper fascia kit?
What grade bolt is that shorter bolt in the tow hook? For safety it really should be at least a grade 8 or better.
Good question. I’m not sure. But they are currently off and being swapped out for some recovery points from Chief Products. Thanks for watching!

@@TiredOfApathy Yep Different recovery points on now. Thanks!
About to do my install today… so glad I came to the comments about this. I’m going to go the bending and new bolt purchase route.

this interesting. Good luck sorting everything out. We have been very happy with the lower front guard from chief
Keep up the good content.
I was able to get plastic corner guards off without cutting or taking bumper off FYI
How did you do that?
I wonder how the rust proofing of chief products stuff is. As in, how's it going to look after 10 Wisc winters? I keep vehicles. I've seen a lot of aftermarket step rails for pickups that rust almost immediately while all the OEM metal is fine.
This will rust if it loses its powder coat
I'm a bit confused. If the front fascia goes back on, what did you gain in terms of clearance?
So. I just threw out my lower front fascia. But you are correct, with the fascia on there is no change in approach angle.
A lot of people will just take off the front fascia when they go offroading and then put it back on when city driving. The whole process takes 5 minutes.
@@ProdigalOverland Are you able to keep the fasica off without any negative effects during normal driving after installing the lower front guard?
@@departfl Yes absolutely.
Great video, dose anyone make an all steel replacement bumper(s) for the WK2?
I would contact 6 monkeys.net. the half a full steel rear bumper and can do custom jobs
@@ProdigalOverland I guess the website is wrong.
Can you reinstall the tow hooks before putting the guard on so you don't have to cut the bolt for the tow hook?

Nice vid. Just got my guard. Quick question: did cutting off the plastic trim impact anything? Thinking of doing the same. Thx in advance!

Was it worth it? Damn... kind of discouraging with that amount of work involved.
and what about air dam - did you install it?
It goes back on the way it came off. It will fit over the guard. But no we didn't put it back on. I trashed it. I didn't want to deal with the on and off every time we go out off road.
i had no idea the stock facia can go back over....
Yep. It sure can. But honestly I leave mine off. Threw it away actually 😉
@@ProdigalOverland yeah i was thinking if you had the nudge bar on, you probably couldnt put the facia back on/off easily
@@ProdigalOverland Oh wow, those aren't cheap. I would have bought that fascia from you. You threw away $300+
Should have took off bumper would have been easier. Great video let us know if it was worth the money

Yeah bumper comes off so fast too.
???? Zero video of what the installed product looks like????
Interesting, but looks like too much trouble.
I truly regret buying a wk2
