Looks so much easier than the old Mopar rock rails that I have on mine. They were notoriously difficult to install. When I end up replacing them I will definitely be ordering these Chief Rails.
My Jeep didn't have the mopar rails on them. So I can't compare. I have taken a few scrapes on these and they are holding up well. I also like that they can be used as a step.
AWESOME Video! I have been looking at those Rock Rails for my 2020 Grand Trailhawk and you Sold me on Getting them! Great Videos Keep Up the Great Work!
Did you have any issues with the holes on the rock rail not aligning with the oval slots on your vehicle? I got 5 to align, but the very front hole on the rock rail is in front of the oval slot of my vehicle. I can’t even adjust it because it’s not within the area of the oval slot. Also one of my M6 U-Nuts doesn’t align with one of the pre drilled holes on the rock rail because the hole is next to a welded piece.
Same here 5 out of 6. The very front driverside bolt was out of alignment by 3-4 mm. I credit jeep for this. I gave up on that bolt. I doubt it will make a difference in the long run. Thanks for sharing your experience. Glad it wasnt just me.
Loved the video, very useful perspective. Especially liked that you included your son. Keep doing it.My boys are now grown and those memories are forever. Did you use a US distributor for the Chief products? If so, which one?
I ordered the rock rails directly from chief products. However I have also used www.justforjeeps.com as well. They are an official distributer of Chief Products.
Great video! I used it as a reference to do my install recently. I now certainly understand why you said "we did this side today and will do the other tomorrow" :) Used your firewood trick to bend the clip - worked like a charm! Did you ever get an answer on the jacking points with these rails in place? I am talking about a factory jack, not a high lift?
May be a dumb question but doesn’t seem like the factory piece could be reinstalled? So years down the road if you trade it in I’m guessing the new rails would have to stay on the jeep?
Yes the passenger side plastic harness covering is lower than the rock rail, but only at the rear half. The front half of the harness is higher. Looking at mine now and it doesnt seem to hang low enough to be of a concern because the fuel tank plate is lower than both the rail and the harness.
This is awesome with the extra benefit of safety if you ever get T Boned! I found that the Grand Cherokee did very poorly in crash testing which is why I looked at this video (side pole in particular) It shouldn't now!!
So as far as ground clearance goes. My rock rails are definitely not the Lowest point on my rig. When I get hung up it’s not from my rails. So in that sense you don’t lose ground clearance. They won’t help you gain clearance either. I would consider them low profile in the sense that they don’t stick a lot down the frame. Although the Mopar rails look to hug the body more. Thanks for the question. Hope that helps
Honestly I forget how many hours. But it was done in a day. Not sure you’d want to base your installation times off of me though. A bit slow over here. 😊
These are very nice sliders, I can’t wait to... how much? No thanks, way too much for me. You can get a piece of metal to protect a JK for a couple hundred bucks, but can’t touch a piece of metal for a WK2 for under a grand. 🤦♂️
Does Chief products actually sell anything. If you gor on their sight everything is out of stock. If you say contact me when available you will never hear from them.
Yes they actually do. I know it seems like they don’t sometimes. They are a small business that has had extremely rapid growth. Right now there stuff sells out very quickly. They are working hard to increase supply. Hang in there
Great to see Dad letting his son work with him! Helps to build confidence, skills, and bonds between family members. Great looking rails too!
Thanks! They like to help out!

Hey you ever replace your mopar rails? Looking to find me a set if you’re looking to get rid of them
Thanks for taking the time to put this together. Mine shipped yesterday and I am prepping.
happy to help!
Your helper is very helpful.
Re-watching this February 2021, your videos have come a long way! Keep it up man!
Thanks Buddy! We have grown
I like these rails, I was surprised to see no nutserts in the install unlike my JK's. I drive a lifted WK2 as my DD.
they have held up well for us. Getting them in stock can be an issue sometimes
Great to see kid getting involved. Spending good time together. Looks pretty good. Any difference with mopar rails on build quality?
My Jeep didn't have the mopar rails on them. So I can't compare. I have taken a few scrapes on these and they are holding up well. I also like that they can be used as a step.

Mine came miss manufactured making installation only harder
I feel like mine had manufacturing issues as well. What was your issue and how’d you fix it?

Man I want to get these so bad. Rock rails plus the step. 👍🏼
They have performed very well so far!

Can you safely jack up the jeep with these and use them for stands as well? Does chief back that?
Good work, I have 2013 grand Cherokee crd limited I want that rail, how can I get it I am in south africa very nice 👍👍

I'm glad the firewood trick worked and that the video was helpful. I'd suggest reaching out to chief about the jacking point question.
May be a dumb question but doesn’t seem like the factory piece could be reinstalled? So years down the road if you trade it in I’m guessing the new rails would have to stay on the jeep?
Hi, great video thanks for sharing. I would like to know are these rock rails strong enough for the car to be jacked up on these rails as a jack point
Yes. We have done it several times
@@ProdigalOverland thanks buddy
Glad to see the next generation getting their hands dirty. Great parenting.
And thank you for showing how these attached to the GC
Absolutely
Do you have your grand cherokee lifted or do you just use the air suspension? Thanks for your channel. You and your jeep are animals!
Is the audio on Prodigal's videos like 10x louder than other videos for anyone?
Looks great. What size tires are you running? Do you have wheel spacers?
We currently are running fallen wildpeaks 265 65 r18. No spacers
I was told my 2018 grand Cherokee trailhawk came with the rock rails but they have that plastic trim yours had that you removed????!
I believe it was standard on the 2017 trailhawk and it’s an optional upgrade afterwards.
Is the right rock rail lower than the black plastic wires harness that runs on the underbody right side (between the right fuel tank and front tire)?
Yes the passenger side plastic harness covering is lower than the rock rail, but only at the rear half. The front half of the harness is higher. Looking at mine now and it doesnt seem to hang low enough to be of a concern because the fuel tank plate is lower than both the rail and the harness.
Any issues regarding legs hitting the rock rails while sliding out of the car ?
No issues there

What tire do you have on the Jeep? You didn't like the stock tires?
These tires are Falken Wildpeak AT3. We wanted a more aggressive tire tread in the all terrain tire.
Hello can you help me out, what is the size of the tires please let me know thank you.
In this video they were 265 60 R18. We currently have 265 65 R18. Hope that helps
Hi Brad, how long did it take for you to install your rock rails, start to finish? I am thinking about installing the bare bones model, no step.
Honestly I forget how many hours. But it was done in a day. Not sure you’d want to base your installation times off of me though. A bit slow over here. 😊
@@ProdigalOverland perfect, thanks Brad!
Where can i find these? I’ve looked and looked can’t find them anywhere. Thank you
It looks like they might be out of stock currently. But here is the link.
usa.chiefproducts.com.au/products/wk2-rock-rails
What size of tires on your jeep? Look nice!
265 65 R18. Thanks for the question
im having a tough time finding that exact rock rail do you have the link by anychance I tried going on the Chief product website but no luck
usa.chiefproducts.com.au/products/wk2-rock-rails, Under the options choose: no tread. It doesn't look like there in stock now.
Way more complicated than installing rock rails on my Wrangler but look good and will offer lots of protection...
can you use a high lift jack on it?
Not sure, I checked their website and the question is there, but the link didn't take me to the answer. Id just send them an email asking
@@ProdigalOverland cheers mate

I love the Falken Tires, both on and off the road. They are quiet at highway speeds and have great grip off road.
