  • A quick test on the Yaesu FT757GX with just a mobile whip on the side of the shed turned into a couple of great contacts into vk2 and vk7. This unit actually did a lot better than I thought in how it performed, it really has a load of output. Rf amp has a load of gain as well, probably very helpful but on the vertical mobile whip, it was bringing up the noise as you will hear. Overall, its a practical radio for hams whose wives have them on a budget🤣🤣🤣 Im a bit lucky, my wife still believes all my radios are under $50 each. If I die, come to the garage sale, Im sure there will be a few bargains 😁...ok, back to cleaning up, cheers brenton vk3cm ps pls subscribe to our RUclips channel and feel free to join us on Facebook at Aussie Radio Pickers or vk ham sales and service anytime.

This is really great radio. Compact but quite heavy-because it is very solid built, no plastic junk. Everything you need is there built in, CW keyer, 500Hz CW filter, FM mode. It goes 150W continuously without any problem, the cooling is designed well. Lots of other buttons and pots on the backside. Easy connection for digi modes. If you will find this radio in a good shape for sale, don' hesitate and buy. With the FC-757AT it is even better, great combo.

*_Brenton, I owned an FT-757 GX in the 80s. An outstanding rig. Did I hear you say you had some 757 gx's "new in the box." Do you mean an actual 757 gx never used still in it's original box?_*
