  • Metro has simplified the way you pay fare on bus and rail. Just pay for each ride until you hit the 1-Day or 7-Day cap, then ride the rest of that day or within those seven days for free.

    I'm going to end up spending more. Go back to monthly passes. It was easy and simple.

    This has made it complicated for me. I only take 2 busses to work ( 1 to go, 1 to come home) 3.50 a day, 17.50 a week, just below the fare cap. The whole month will cost me $70 now. As part of the low income LIFE program I was only paying $24 for a monthly pass, but now I will have to pay $70 I do not have

      If you have LIFE, you have reduced fare capping so it’ll be the same as the old price.

      With the LIFE program, you qualify for 20 free regional rides every month. So, if you take 2 buses a day your 20 free rides should last about two weeks. So, you'll basically be paying for the last two weeks until the following month comes in and you're able to request your 20 free rides again.

    • @CityLifeinAmerica
      @CityLifeinAmerica 11 месяцев назад

      @@sandraralda1871 You don’t request it, the 20 rides gets loaded onto Tap automatically every month.
      Also, the 20 rides include transfers.

    Just move to cheaply rated distance based fares like all the best metro systems in the world uses. It's doesn't make sense that everyone is paying the same price with the Regional Connector is open. You can ride 48.5 mi full length for Long Beach to Azusa for only $1.75! But the people most reliant on Metro aren't doing that, they're doing short trips like living in an apartment in East LA and working at the Citadel Outlets about 5 mi away. The only way to have fare capping make sense is to make fares cheaper for shorter trips like have it start off at $0.50 for the 1st five miles and have the fare cap at a daily maximum.

    • @ellvtv2314

      Sounds more complicated than fare capping. How are you going to track how far a person has traveled? Are you going to force people to tap twice, once for entering and once for leaving a bus?

    • @kilojoule_kj
      @kilojoule_kj 8 месяцев назад

      @@ellvtv2314 That's exactly how it's done in Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, Hong Kong and Singapore, all cities with far better transit and deals with far more people using transit everyday that puts every US and European city to shame. If they can figure it out how to move MILLIONS everyday without any problems for the past 20-30 years, what excuse does Metro have? 🤷‍♀️

    This is so stupid and ridiculous. I get discount where my weekly passes are 6 dollars and I am spending more per day to ride the damn bus. This is the stupidest thing metro has done. I ride at least 5 buses a day to get to work and I have spent way past my 6 dollars I would a week for my weekly pass. So how is this saving me money ITS NOT

  • @basedgod3941
    @basedgod3941 3 месяца назад

    I thought it said tapping at metro stations will grant a discount or a free ride once you board off? But they never work. Then again I never pay to board them to begin with so idk. Just lower the fare cost so people can use it daily while having no excuse to let base heads ride for free if they can’t scrape .50 cents

    3 rides = $5.25, so why state $5 in a day? 11 rides = $19.25, so why state $18? The administration of Metro has always been a failure. When will there ever be clear and concise information on how to add day passes to Tap cards online/app/Apple Pay, etc? Nothing. Read the confusion and complaints by those on LIFE! Add to that the clear underhandedness of expecting day passes to be used before stored value - THAT is a crooked line.

    I just want to say this is absolute garbage! Before I paid literally $0 ALL DAY, EVERYDAY "once" I paid a flat price for my tap card and being a LIFE member. NOW! "blah blah 5$ a day and blah blah $18 a week". That's just atrocious and it is definitely a scam to actually get more money. Now I only have "20 free rides" and have be forced to participate in this crappy fair capping scheme. 👎👎

      Participation is optional. The cost of each ride remains at $1.75 with 2-hour free transfers. However, the only difference is that you will not be charged more than $5 per day or $18 per week. If you take more than three rides in a day, rides are free from your fourth ride. Previously, taking five rides in a day would cost $8.75, but now it is only $5, regardless of how many rides you take in a day (even if you took 500 rides it would only be $5). Even if you only take one ride, the fare remains $1.75 (you DON'T have to pay $5 every ride) With this change, you also no longer need to pay an additional fee for the J Line (or other freeway express routes). Although fare changes can be confusing and it can be frustrating, it's worth noting that Metro is not increasing the base fare from $1.75.

    • @Todents
      @Todents Год назад

      By J line, do you mean the silver line, 950 or 910? I've been so confused lately, I usually get a transit EZ monthly pass that would allow me to take that bus. Today when I went to the Metro tap card machine the options have changed. Their is an option for EZ TRANSIT ADULT 1, 2 , 3 with a prize increase starting at 120 if I remember correctly. Do you know what the difference is? Or if the normal metro monthly pass now works for the silver line I'm mentioned earlier. Any additional information would be very helpful!

      I was paying $12.50 for a weekly pass, now I have to pay for $18!!!!! The worst part of this is that many bus drivers are not enforcing people to pay. Lots of people still board through the back doors. So I guess this is the way Metro is trying to recuperate all the money they lost during covid. Shame on Metro

    • @peterbrassard38418
      @peterbrassard38418 Год назад +2

      @@moisesmeza2974 I know it sucks, but that $12.50 pass was just a temporary 50% discount Metro had during the pandemic. The regular price before the deal was actually $25. Also, you DON'T have to pay $18. That is the MAX you can pay in a week. If you go on only 4 rides weekly, it would only cost $7. If you go 20 rides weekly, it would be $18 instead of (originally) $35 because you can only pay $18 a week. That means you can go on as many rides as you want and you won't pay more than $18.
