So much fun! Something for Nothing falls into the Sheckley category I think of as a joke somebody told in a bar.
At least after 30,000 years, he will be able to enjoy what he ordered!

This is one of the few good stories ever required as reading when I was a kid. I think it has a good moral that no entitled person of the current generation has read. Don't worry I'm not picking on the current generation - it is my idiotic generation that raised them to believe the world revolves around them.
Let's make it so once again. I've always loved those "punishment-fits-the-crime" stories, and Tales From the Crypt comeuppance yarns.
Who knows...

Excellent story, I believe that I’ve also seen a version of this story on a US TV series in the 90s (some anthology like series similar to Twilight Zone or Ray Bradbury theater). I would love to find that series again. Thanks for posting this.
It was a short Film on the SciFi (now known as Syfy) channel called The Utilizer. I had been looking for it for over 25 years. Just found it today. :)
