The creator of the lament configuration was the master of chaos. In his early years as a toy maker he made a board game called Jumanji...

So Clive Barker wrote a script to reboot his original movie, which was also based on his own novella. That must be amazingly unique in the movie world? I would so watch that. Such a shame it won't be made. I saw the original movie in 88 on VHS, aged 15, I fell in love with the aesthetic of Pinhead and the Cenobites. Clive Barker has such a imagenation.

An artist will often revise works and work on it again. Not to the high profile degree George Lucas has.
In film there are a few directors who direct remakes of their own works. Clive Barker felt the film was in many ways an improvement on the book and the film was his first film and was given a much smaller budget to realise Barker’s very epic ideas.
Some of the second film started to get that right.

With the success of Halloween and It a high budget reboot is still possible.

I'd be worried about too much being explained. It's definitely fun to read/watch your videos about the Hellraiser lore, but the original 2 films worked because of their mystery. The dark fantasy behind the tale was so intriguing and the way the first 2 films committed to the outlandish concepts really made the whole concept work

"Take it is yours!" "It always was" Love that scene at the beginning of the first film, as Frank pays for The Lament Configuration, and seller said it after Frank Leaves. The seller knowing what he had in his heart as a matter of fact/judgment. Desire is the motivation for Frank to explore new sensations beyond the earthly carnal excitements he growing dissatisfied with, leading his heart hellbound into his own Hell! Great video!

Any thoughts on whether the the movie Event Horizon could be connected to the Hellraiser universe? How they describe where the ship went always has resonated with me about how the Hellraiser world is set up. And then when you take into account how Sam Neil's character is "transformed" after a few minutes in that dimension, it would seem to line up. (I do realize there is no real connection, but yeah, seemed like it would be a fun connection).
The drive on the Event Horizon reminded me of the puzzle box, in appearance as well as job.
I believe I´ve seen an essay mentioning the subject here somewhere. Could it have been on Good Bad Flicks perhaps?

Wow between the content and your narration I totally imagined that whole sequence of events. I could literally see the box come to life as the " Toy Maker" is cut and slashed and we all know that sound like a death bell that tolls it's deep dark tone. I need to see this movie. I wish I had the finance to make a hellraiser movie myself and you would be my director we would make a bloody masterpiece!!!! Mr. H your channel is the best by far you are totally invested as am I in all things horror and horrible. God bless and best of everything to you my friend from across the pond.
There being more than one box does make sense. In Hellraiser II we see pictures of different boxes and at the beginning the narrator eludes to their being different types of boxes

I like the Lemarchand/Pinhead origin as it gives the creator of the box more status as opposed to just being 'the toymaker.'

Who better than a toymaker to hold the key to Hell? We play with toys because we WANT to, and Pinhead/Toymaker knows just what me want :). If they do a reboot I hope they keep the lawful Pinhead, Order above all else. I'm personally waiting for the day that Kristy because the next or "true" Pinhead. She has much to teach the minions of her soon-to-be realm.

I like what i hear here brother ... sounds like a pretty good opening ...
I remember when I wrote a story for a 40k RPG and included a little rubik's cube that when solved would release a daemon of the GM's choosing. Took me WAY too long to realize I just included the Lament Configuration into the story. Luckily the person I wrote the story for figured it out quickly and was able to make it work without seeming forced/obvious.
This plus the Hellraise Origins please ... cmon Hollywood do it!

The Puzzle Box is a Bevel/Rubik hybrid with moving sections and gears tinkering which is unique..!! The 2022 box is a shapeshifting puzzle box which is solved after five sacrifices are made….

I’d watch a movie about the making of lament configuration, the backstory of each cynobite leading to the reimagined story. Or possible a 30min to your tv show at the end of each season they give us a new movie
