I love the nuanced comparison here. As an RS 6 owner, I prioritized a comfortable and luxurious daily, that can actually be fun on a weekend drive. The M3 is definitely more dynamic, but you lose some of the refinement and luxury kit. Both amazing cars no matter how you slice it.

Yep. Another C8 RS6 owner here. I love the car to bits and it’s a V8! Need I say more? As Joe says - you feel all of the power all of the time.
I do like the M3 touring. In fact when I get a ‘weekend car’ and swap my daily I’ll probably get a 340d; but the RS6 is just so much more refined. Although it should be - it’s another price point and not really comparable.

I’ve never driven an Audi that’s anywhere near as good to drive as the equivalent bmw. Im just not an Audi guy. I’ve had 3 BMWs in my time but I have to say that the design direction bmw is going both inside and out means that I’d actually choose the Audi. Your car is epic and I’ve no doubt it will be superb to drive but I just can’t get past those looks.
In fairness, if someone gifted me either car, I’d happily drive both.

Drive an s or rs car then. Better handling than its bmw equivalents. Bmw was never better than audi because they are a cheap car. Bad engines bad suspension design and mediocre chassis. Audi uses multilink which is the best suspension whilst bmw always uses struts in everything. A Fiat punto uses struts. Because they are the cheapest but also worst. I'm guessing you're American so the typical person who doesn't know anything about the car.

@ no I’m British and I’ve done the nc500 in a stage 1 tuned Audi S4 Avant. Audis tend to put heavy engines directly over the front wheels so even the all wheel drive versions tend to understeer badly. The S4 was very quick but nowhere near as dynamic as my 540i xDrive or current 340i.

    • @DudeThedudesky
      @DudeThedudesky Месяц назад

@andrewyoung5126 oh british even worse 😂. And no audi doesn't. The v6 that's in the s4 and other models sit on the axle. If you want it to handle more dynamically you need more negative camber on the front and rear. Bmw come with more stock and they can't handle better because of the inferior suspension and awd system. Audis have better lap times and cornering speeds. Bmw is the brand for less intelligent people who know Jack shit about cars. Bmw has no excuse to use struts in their cars that cost even over 100k euros. They are cheap and they know it. They know they have a cult following and low traction rwd making them feel dynamic. I've driven most m models on the nurburgring and many other cars and bmw is a joke. Compare a m3 cs to a giulia quadrofolio for example. The giulia 8 years ago was made and has dual wishbones on the front and multilink on the rear. It hit 7:32 on the ring 8 years ago whilst the m3 cs costing almost twice the amount and only recently it hit 7:29 on the ring and it had alot more power and way better tires. It also had awd which is better for the ring for a sedan. There's a lap time battle between a rs5 sportback comp and a m3 comp xdrive. The rs5 won by 7 seconds on a short track. I can link you the video but I don't think you understand german. Anyway bmw makes money from people like you. Clueless.

Joe your reviews are always very unbiased. A lot of the time Audi's get written off bc they're not the most dynamic cars, but that's the whole point of the brand. It's not the most dynamic but in turn it offers better daily drivability. If you only care about driving dynamics go BMW (not say they can't be daily driven). If all cars were trying to be the most dynamic driving the market would actually be so boring since the cars would all drive the same, so I can see why there is no clear winner in this comparison. Its more on what your values are, for me I don't mind trading off some driving dynamics for daily drivability that's why I usually go with Audi's but I can definitely see myself in a BMW in the near future too.

The huge rivalry between them makes Mercedes, Audi and BMW build such great cars. As a BMW driver, I love the smile that all BMWs, from the 1 series to the 7 series can put on your face. The sound of the Audi RS6 is the reference for me, like a huge army of Huns with war drums announcing their arrival. Both great cars the RS6 from the side is the most beautiful estate car you could wish for. However, the rear of the M3 is even a touch nicer than the Audi. As for practicality, I myself am not a fan of big cars. For transports I rent a van, and with a car I just want to be able to park easily anywhere too, I like agile cars. My situation: I am on the road alone or together with my wife 99% of the time. These two cars are two delicious monsters, I choose the more compact BMW thats suits my situation the best. Not a capitel overhere, I suppose the maintenance costs as well as the fuel consumption is a bit better with the BMW, as far as people concern ofcourse that have 90k to spend on a car.

Neither has enough power or weigh enough, could well blow away in gusty conditions. Will wait for next generation personally, should be over 2 tons by then and closing in on 1000hp, oh and hopefully big enough so there's no unsightly unused space left between those lines of the roads/parking bays etc.

So even though I havent watched this as I type - I know this is exactly the video I want to watch for a quality comparison!
So Now I have watched it - Quality as usual Joe! I do love an RS6 and today I had a RSQ8 (not my cup of tea) motor past me in my F82CP and it was obviously tuned with a quality exhaust as it sounded epic. So I agree with all your points on the RS6 especially since I havent so far had a V8 in my stable.
But then I see just how much you are enjoying the G81 and it must be an absolute riot - looking forward to seeing what you do with yours going forward (obviously you have all your other kit to go on), and I am very sure I will be in one of these in the future when they start appearing on the second hand market.
Cheers for the quality content Joe - Awesome!

As a BMW owner for many years and fan. M3 is superb if it wasn’t for the front grille. Which does look better in real life than photos and more so in darker colours - black front grill - darker paint colours. Black paint is the best colour to blend into the grille. This and I have tried so hard - I really do not like and on a car costing 80k plus - an M car SHOULD be WOW …really want one. Whomever designed that grille and moreover those who allowed it to production as a finalised design - I really do shake my head in disappointment. On the looks the Audi wins hands down.

Ughhhh such a hard choices... Rs6 better looking from outside, interior and multimedia i prefer M3 ( except how they install this LCDs.... ). Engine... with all the love to B58/S58 I think this Audi V8 is beast and have massive potential. Handling M3, everyday usage hard to say from one side smaller car - M3 from other bigger comfort on RS6..... Personally I went from Audi A6 C7 to BMW 3 but I think in this situation I will go for RS6 C8.

And a .2 difference in quarter mile times from a car thats 6 years old. How are they dynamically in different leagues?

It was hard to justify the petrol against the diesel.
