It’s why I hate fans asking developers for an arcade game. We liked those games because they were what we had at the time and the product itself was hot. We’ve come a long way, added some good and some bad, but asking for an arcade game without also asking them to modernize it with the improvements of the last 20 years was bound to end up this way.

if there would be atleast 6-8 in the ring becouse i play mostly only big matches , i was thinking the ai and even player targeting in last 2 2k games was annoying but in aew is only 1vs1, even if u do anny 4man match.dont bought it only 4 in the ring is groundbreaking lol and the ps2/3 looking models lol ,thats not for what i play with a 4070.this deathmatch looked from my first time when i saw it so boring already and both get hit from the explosion (inferno match was probably much better).And customization looks bad .In wwe2k23 made i a movesett for like 15-20 hours just for the movesett , i watched every single move,taunt and everything and was long thinking what i do.

What I love about WWE 2k video games is you can kick out of when you're doing the pinning the computer so you don't have to finish the match so fast
You can cancel a pin with the right bumper I believe
crank the difficulty up to legend, but turn the reversals alllllll the way down. You'll get everyone kicking out of 1 finisher, and every match will be 5 stars. I really do like how you can hit up on the d-pad and the opponent will kick out though!!! I dont see that listed ANYWHERE in the manual either, it's like a hidden command.

I kept my expectations at a low because it's been a long time since we had a Wrestling arcade game I hate to say this to it's seems to makes sense why 2K was challenging THQ and Yukes because they know it's been a long time

I like the gameplay a lot. Some tweaks to the pin system and more match types will take it to the next level. The new stadium stampede mode also looks fun af. They said they don’t plan on making sequels but to keep patching and updating this version of the game so I feel like they can only go up from here over time.

They need a complete overhaul to even make it look decent!! Better graphics, needs better mechanics, more modes, better creativity etc, less of the arcade crap.

I wish they included a mode where you select a belt to go for. Just simple wrestle your way up to the champion to win the title. I used to do that in WCW vs NWO revenge all the time. The closer you got to the title the more difficult it got.
They should do that and make it like No Mercy with branching paths and letting you defend the title with additional storylines there

After a couple months and after playing AEW FF, I revisited 2K23 (I uninstalled it because my data got corrupted... Ugh), but the gameplay felt so much smoother and I felt like I had way more control with options; That wasn't the case when I uninstalled it originally because the game was totally broken upon release. Now that 2K have sorta fixed those issues, I'm kinda gravitating to 2K again (my god, I didn't expect that)
But in all fairness, FF is a bunch of fun... for a while
Creation suite a big one for me too. I can make my own fight forever in 2k 😅
@deademcee down the line when you play AEW again it will be the same after a few updates it will feel better.
I still use button mashing in 2K23 over the timed meter, the problem with FF is that there's no gauge to let you know how good are your chances of kicking out or escaping a submission hold. If they added one it would make a massive difference, right know kicking out at 2.9 just to get pinned right away after a bodyslam completely ruins immersion.
Same. I hope they always leave that as an option in 2k. I personally still enjoy button mashing kickouts.
That happens in the 2K games as well pal. That strip will be small as ever after you’ve taken multiple finishers and you can get beaten from one move after that

This. Though I think they make the... Forgot the name of it, but that bar that shows your energy level is supposed to be a gauge.
I've been pretty sure when I will or won't be able to kick out but something more would be appreciated.

They revealed the roadmap before the release of the game so I don't get this same " lack of content "argument under every AEW Fight Forever video.
If you don't like the game in its current state, then you can just wait and buy it when they release the planned content in upcoming updates. It's really that simple

@Mannyisdatnigga Because releasing new game modes without testing can introduce hundreds of bugs and that's a lot worse than taking your time and releasing them when they're ready to be released.
You can tell that they created the game with passion and needed more time to complete and polish it but they had already taken a lot of time and people couldn't wait any longer so they had to release the game in its current state which for many people including myself is totally acceptable. Of course, not everyone was gonna be fine with an unfinished project, which is why they revealed all the details before releasing the game so people can know what they're getting before buying it.
And it is also their first game while WWE 2K games took almost a decade to reach a point where they are at the moment.
So, you can either wait for your favourite game modes to be released or decide not to buy the game altogether.
But I personally hope that the game reaches its full potential in the future and receives the respect it deserves for trying out something new and at least trying to bring back the good old wrestling formula.

Y’all keep making excuses for AEW. “It’s the first game”…….1) it was financially backed by a billionaire. 2) Kenny Omega was touted as some video game genus. 3) The N64 games came out over 20 years ago and they’re BETTER. 4) THQ has made wrestling games before, so their should be no excuse at all as to why the game leaves so much off the table.

Its a lot of fun, with a lot of room for improvement. AEW Games is planning to release frequent updates to keep the game fresh for the next 12 - 24 months. Stadium Stampede is coming soon! The Acclaimed have also confirmed they have taken photos for AEW Fight Forever.

happen as the active player numbers are really low. Think you will get SS and the set DLC characters and that will be it unfortunately.

They're trying so much to make the game ''different'' that they completely forgot it's a wrestling game, when you play the career mode it's like playing The Sims, why would anyone want to go out and eat or workout in a wrestling game? They add all these different kind of weapons and all those minigames that absolutely NOBODY likes but they neglect the basics, the controls are bad, they don't even have something as simple as a cage match, no community creations, the caws look horrible, the roster is lacking, the game has like 3 game modes and the first new on they're adding is a 50 player stadium battle royale mode with guns and all that stuff, just imagine if WWE 2k came out and asked people to pay 60$ for this
Working out makes sense since wrestlers work out. But let me play devils advocate real quick. Why rap in a basketball video game.
The thing id like to see added more than anything is to have a match length option that would say adjust wrestlers health pools. So if you wanted to have short squash matches you can or if you want a big long epic match you can. Not every match should be a 3 min squash. so they need an option for a long epic where you can pull out all the stops and can kick out of even the most brutal spots.
Exactly. I mean, kicking out of dozens of insane moves is a hallmark of the real AEW product.

They took 4 years to get this to market, used an outdated game engine, game modes are limited, skimped on the graphics, & charged people $50-$60. Sounds like a game I’ll never buy.
For a game so set on being like the N64 wrestling games, it's like the people making the game made it off of memory alone and didn't actually go back and play the games. The "career" mode No Mercy was based on you picking a title and following a path to chase it. Ups the downs the wins the losses but ultimately leading to a shot at the title. This career mode is just "shit happens." The only enjoyment I get from it is building my character so I can use him in the regular exhibition and maybe just fantasy book my own stories. I will give them credit, playing Road to Elite is like watching AEW TV. Nothing really seems to matter, things happen in matches that don't matter the following week. So they nailed that.

@@Richboyfresh09Gamestation No Mercy was the last version of those games. This game could at least have what that game had but it doesn’t. My favorite games from that series being Virtual Pro Wrestling 2, fantastic game with awesome features not found in AEW FF. The AEW game is fine, it has a solid gameplay base but lacks basic options for wrestling games that have been around for decades. You can’t even search moves by type or damage type. Also, acting like other people are too demanding for asking for basic shit from the genre is nonsense. This game is like buying a new car without a windshield or rear view mirror. Yeah I can drive it but it would be nice to just wait and have those things. For example, the create a wrestler shouldn’t even be in this game yet. They should have done it as a game update when it was a viable addition. The game updates should be additional wrestlers like in fighting games. I’m well aware that updates are coming but that doesn’t stop people from assessing what they got upon release. The arguments against complaining seems to just be “Don’t complain, things are supposed to get better.” We’ll see. First thing they need to do is fix the terrible bugs in the game.

The pin system worked on the old AKI games they just seem to have got this wrong, also AKI games would auto kick out when not enough damage. You haven’t got a chance of kicking out once in danger in this after one finisher that sucks. I like button mashing but this needs setting up better and tweaking.
yes. After playing since it came out, it needs tweaking and it would feel sooo much better. There is a lot of stuff to like in terms of what you can do in the ring, it just needs better match flow.
Could they fix the Road to Elite with updates? Is there away to do so. Could they fix the pinning system? Can they add new modes with updates because from what I’ve heard this isn’t a yearly game.
5:15 it's funny because that is just like it is in real life. winning a championship really doesn't mean much in AEW. Once someone wins a championship, they disappear, their momentum chasing the championship is gone and rivalries and storylines involving champions doesn't really happen. the spotlight is mostly on those who are chasing the champions, not the champions themselves. that's a big problem with AEW. examples of champions being used poorly, Adam Page World Champion, Wardlow TNT, Jade TBS, PAC All Atlantic, etc.

The Stadium Stampede mode looks promising and the perfect addaptation of an older arcade style to the modern games. I think they went a little too much with the No Mercy tribute

It will give it some renewed hype and fun for a week or so until people get bored of the same old rinse and repeat over and over again.
The game holds no depth and little replayability.
Online hackers are already prevalent in the game on all consoles, won't be long before they start cheating and ruining the stadium stampede mode for others. But it will get very stale very quickly.
There not enough in this game to keep people interested, the stampede mode will fizzle out too. If it was a match type, like the actual event, like an all access backstage hard-core match type and not an online battle royale mode I think that would've been a little better. But still not enough to bring back its already massively dwindling player base.
The player base is dwindling too much, I think this online mode may bring back a few of the people who already own the game and that’s it. I worry that it is not going to be supported after the planned DLC as the player base is soo small
@@georgeh4171 I agree, it's sold just over 30,000 copies since release, that's a disaster for aew and thq. Once the updates are sent out this year the developers will give up om this game just like they did with elite gm mode. There's no money in it for them.
And the stadium stampede match is already a guaranteed fail. With online averaging around 70 to 100 players online per day globally, compared to the 2000+ players at release, there won't be enough people playing aew to start a stadium stampede match. I find it very difficult to find matches online now as it is. It's impossible to find a 4 way, battle royale or minigame match because you can never find 4 people playing at the same time.
This game could've been something great, but the danger signs for aew are already here. This game will be left in the dust by January.
Compare it to SvR or DoR which I consider top tier in wrestling gaming. How does it hold up? I haven’t played yet
I just got it on Thursday and now coming to Monday Im almost 100%. Within a week most gamers would move on from this title. For full price its not worth it. I do hope for a sequel, hell an AEW vs TNA crossover would be dope but only time will tell.
I am someone who actually creates his own superstars instead of playing with existing ones , the lack of creation options were a total bummer for me. There is nothing like a universe mode and I did not find the story mode interesting at all. It felt like it was a game made for a phone.
I'm with you. I have a lot of fun with Exhibition matches (Lights Out is amazing and thumbtacks are one of the best things ever added to a wrestling game) and the game has limitless potential. But it needs SOOOO much dumped into it from updates...I'm talking like No Man's Sky level of stuff that, a year from now, won't even look like the same game anymore. The upcoming Stadium Stampede could be a big deal if it all plays out as good as it looks (and I'm not an online guy, so that says a lot). But I'd honestly prefer if that was just our backstage area for Exhibition. Can you imagine playing Falls Count Anywhere or Lights Out and being able to go backstage and that ENTIRE stadium area was our playground? Would be insane. A lot of people want more wrestlers, which I'm not opposed to, but I think new features needs to be the priority...I think the roster is solid right now, we can wait on that to get more meat on the gameplay side of things.

110% agree. I've been blowing up their feedback that was up on discord about all of this. The game has such good bones but the match flow is not good but could be amazing. Even in HCTP which is very arcady could a match go on for much longer. You could kickout of several finishers if it was earlier enough and whatnot.
Unless you faced Brock Lesnar 😂 then even if you're whooping his ass he hits ONE F-5 and there's no kicking out 😂

For me the worst thing about the game is the button mashing and no free run. I know those were the days but it feels different now.
You should do a video on the pros and cons of the game to give it a view from both angles
I think they're going to add a lot of stuff afterwards, the game seems like one of those group projects where everyone's working on something different and then the time runs out so the overall group mashes together the bare minimum because they have to present "something". I'm hoping over time they will add the things that weren't ready at launch time (just saw the stadium stampede trailer, that's definitely a good direction). Ideally they're free as well and not DLC because nobody in their right minds would pay 60 bux for what we have now and call it complete.

Although I think the damage has already been done now. People are already losing faith in this game and it's already lost a huge player base. Pick up and play became put down and forget about.
It was released as an empty shell and they took too long to fill it. 4 years to make this game with big promises and massive hype, what we got for £60 was an early access demo. Not good enough.

Turn off your system, turn the lights off, then go to sleep
The reason you run like this in this game is wrestling logic. It means you have to run threw the ropes to get a running attack. (Same system in Fire Pro Wrestling) And this makes sense. But outside of the ring I agree its bad.

You were still being a bit too positive but yeah you have to give the game time…personally I’m just waiting for the additional modes to drop hopefully they extend road to elite because once a story mode is complete you can only go back for exhibition matches so many times before it gets old regardless of who is added to the game.
The game is really fun but not worth 60 considering battlegrounds was 40 somthing like 45 then charging for dlc would be reasonable also the stadium stampede mode looks really fun

the game is fun, they need to tweak some things, I hate not having a kick out system, maybe make it a bit harder to fill the spirit meter, but they have been very transparent about this game being built upon over time, with new modes, match types and customization, I don't thing custom logos will ever be a thing, because this game will live and die with dlc, since it's not filled with micro transactions, as for road to elite, I think it depends on who you use, played it 3 times, 1st with cody, 2nd with ricky starks, and then with jericho, 1st play through, had a feud with death triangle, 2nd play through, had a feud with inner circle, and the 3rd I joined the dark order, I had handicap matches and a multi man ladder match, so those matches are already in the game I just don't know why they aren't available in exhibition yet, but I do like what I saw when they showed off the stadium stampede match today.
The reality is that the game is bad. We all wanted it to be good, but at a certain point the optimism becomes denial. You don’t have to be a WWE “shill” to point out the huge and numerous flaws in this game. But you do have to be an AEW shill to defend it as it is.
i think they focused to much on being no mercy, had they added a little bit of elements from no mercy, but still had updated features. It would’ve been a banger. gonna wait for this game to go on clearance
eh, They didn't make it enough like No Mercy. The signature rework and how the spirit meters works is all changed from the AKI formula. A lot of the FF gameplay is anchored around someone landing a signature and it snowballs after that. A lot of the complaints about the matches ending too quickly after a finisher has to do with the changes they made, the older games weren't like that. Signatures shouldn't be match ending moves and the spirit meter should fluctuate more.
The running and all that is fine, they don't want people to be able to run around in circles and be cheesy.
I expect (hopefully free) updates for this game. Maybe new superstars and match types along with quality of life changes like custom logos, but my hope is that we don’t get another AEW game for a while (maybe 3-4 years) and once we do it’s a simulation game and they go back between simulation and arcade every few years or so.
One positive thing about career mode being short is that you have to beat it 15 times to unlock all minigames, elite mode and the alternate barbwire death match explosion. It would've been hectic playing it 15 times if it was super long. Even that positive thing isn't that great because most of the minigames are lackluster.

It would've been nice if there was more for the game to offer. For example, more match types.
I know they were trying to have the No Mercy feel to this game, but No Mercy had more to offer. Backstage areas to fight in, a Steel Cage match, etc. Would've been nice to have stipulations like that added as well. Tables match, Last Man Standing, etc. You can only do the Lights Out Match so many times before it feels a little dull.

Button mashing to kick out is fine. Then we feel the struggle to really kickout
I've enjoyed AEW Fight Forever, but compared to WWE 2k23, it really does feel dated by the controls, but once you get used to it, it's pretty fun. Hopefully AEW's next game will be better, like some kind of hybrid between Fight Forever and WWE 2K, I wouldn't mind. Yuke's owns the schematics for the WWE 2K control scheme up until 2K19, which if they implemented that control layout, they could be better than present day WWE 2K in my opinion. I really like WWE 2k23 but the control scheme from WWE '12 to WWE 2K19 was better and easier to remember.

It's decent. It's a mix of former TNA/WWE with two or three AEW guys. Customizing sucks. Not enough content but I still like it.
I think I’m the only one who doesn’t mind massing for a kick out, I always hated the mini games for pins holds submissions once wrestling games started coming out with mini games I was outs.

The pin system is the thing that I fucking DESPISE. I get knocked down from a punch and I get pinned after mashing the shit out of my buttons.

One of the biggest reasons I won’t be buying the game is cuz it seems to have a massive quantity over quality problem. Like they took a bunch of stuff the fans have requested 2k to do for a long time and bundled it into the game but they put more focus into that at the same time as putting low effort into the functionality of the game. The pin system is heavily flawed the game glitches n messes up quite often from what I’ve seen and the negatives seem to really outweigh the positives. Hopefully they take the criticism and try to work on making a smoother game with a pinning system that doesn’t ruin the whole experience.
The mashing buttons is something i definitely agree with. I would've preferred gameplay similer too wwe 2k14 or svr 08.
Yeah, if they were going to go with the button mash, at least give us a bar slowly going towards the kickout the more we pressed like how it was done in the early SvR games.

My brother bought it and I played a few matches at his place. I really didn't care for it and it's far inferior to the WWE games. I agree 100% about describing it as "outdated".
Start from ground zero (WWF No Mercy) and update. Which is why Ill wait for additional content. Smack down( HCTP and SYM) were my last enjoyable wrestling games; I hope the Developers of AEW learn what made early Wrestling gaming so much fun and create a phonemical vision for future content.
Why ask for a sequel? THQ can still add timed kickout and submission if they update the game

Wait for updates. It has so much potential, it really does but it needs tweaking and more content. The core wrestling has a lot of fun things in it and definitely a step above the AKI formula, but the pacing of matches and pinning is off. They've been gathering a lot of feedback, as well as a new battle royal mode coming to the game, so things will probably change.
I don't think they're afraid to rework the core gameplay either based on feedback. Like, reworking the pin system a little bit so people are happy. That's just based on what I've read from their community manager.

I think its a travesty that it took them 4 years to make this.
They got the core game to a certain point and then started making the Stadium mode which is like a separate game. I had heard there was infighting between people around the direction of the game and I can see that the rumors were true. They should've just stuck with the plan and made a true No Mercy successor/sandbox wrestling game with the AEW theme.
It’s annoying about AEW, soo much potential and they always manage to mess it up. Tony needs to take a step back

In no mercy felt I could do moves and easily do what I wanted to AEW not too much I bought the game because of people playing it and because Chris Danger looked like he was having fun but gameplay I’m just not really getting into it I’ll try it again but I keep going to other games instead

This game feels and plays somewhat similar too a 3D version of Fire Pro World they definitely need to fix a lot with the game but if they add more customization it could be even better

No Mercy was a better game and had more modes. Getting sick and tired of hearing people giving the lack of modes a pass because it is their first game. AEW could of used No Mercy as a template. Sad that a game from the N64 era has more content than this game.
Tired of those excuses as well ! They act like its not 2023 with years of knowledge on how to make a wrestling. Only 7 match types is insane

I HATE hate hate hate the button mashing mechanic, and I don’t love the reversals either. BUT, I would at least be able to tolerate them a little if they gave you some sort visual indication of the timing or how close you are to filling up a kick out meter. I just feel totally in the dark as to how I’m doing.
