4:03 I mean this is starting to apply to a number of "medium-form" RUclips channels as well. You can look up YT growth "guides" and practically all of them boil down to "Stall the video for more watch time" and "Don't use accurate titles/thumbnails or even use cards because they give the answer the viewers want more quickly". It's sad.
Those guides are a bunch of bullshit. the advice they give is laughably untrue. There's a difference between "going viral" and actual success through social media. Besides, why would you trust a "guru" who knows "the secrets of YT" when most of the time, they barely have 50k subs??
i saw this post the other day where someone had stitched a tiktok of a man pouring like, a gallon of maple syrup on his pancakes for a quick gag with this stupidly haunting dialogue - something that referenced the physical irony of scrubbing that syrup of the floor 10 seconds afterwards as if worshipping some sort of unloving god. haunting shit, your point about popularity being the goal nowadays reminded me of that pretty heavily.
I think something that makes a BIG diference between "shorts" format and normal videos format is how you watch the things. In normal videos on youtube, you can at least CHOOSE what to consume. You search what you want to see, you can see what the video is gonna be from watching the thumbnail and title, you are the one who decide which videos are gonna play in your screen, having an oportunity to watch things of quality. But with "shorts" format, the algorithm is the one who decides what you're gonna look at. Sure, you can choose the first short you're gonna see, but the moment you swip the short the algorithm is the one who takes the control. You don't know what you're gonna look at until it plays itself, you could stuck watching a lot of shorts about things you don't like because the algorithm is the one who decide, not you. And most of the time you just see popular things, not things you like. And most of the time, those popular things are lazy and low quality things like some attractive person doing a simple dance. And the shorts format makes you feel that you should keep swiping, even if you only find trash. It makes you think that "oh, if i keep scroling i will find something good", thing that doesn't happen with normal videos, thats why its so addicting. I used to have tiktok and always had that problem. And let me tell you something, the "for you" sistem sucks anyway. Every time i tried to make the algorithm show me tiktoks about things i like it would for a while, but then it would show me things im not interested at all with music i really hate and people doing unfunny/dumb stuff just because its popular. Even when i block that content and the app tells me "ok, we will stop showing you things like these", it still doing it! Well, sorry for writting too much, i just wanted to vent because i also really dislike the "tiktok" format (mostly because it makes my phone stop working lol), good video man.
This. the youtube homepage that you could scroll trough is still okay, like fuck yeah i want to watch some 25min video of a Pakistani man building a motorbike from scrap, but the fact that when you (or then its js me idk if it happens to other people ;-;) click youtube on my phone, the first thing that pops up is the shorts page. And anyone could just subconsciously scroll through that for like 30min and then realizing that you had to watch a tutorial on how to tune a guitar, even tho theres nothing to blame on the consumer, its just how the brain works. Making a multi-million dollar business based purely on short dopamine release isnt fair imo Hope you get what im sayin english isnt my first language lol
I cannot express how much I agree with you, man. FINALLY a creator that expresses this stuff and doesn't make the same clickbait short stuff. Instead people like money and popularity, instead of actually making stuff that they themselves and their fans will actually enjoy by exposing them to real content. You're a legend, man.
I don't understand why RUclips tries to copy everything that's popular, instead of just building on top of the stuff that made this site great in the first place...
Just like that one line: You either be like vine and die being a hero, or be like tiktok and live long enough to see yourself become the villain of the story.
To be fair, people are doing this because of tiktok's algorithm. I think things would be very different if vine is still as popular and tiktok never existed
I don’t like when it’s just a repost of a crappy TikTok on RUclips, or even most crappy TikToks, I like when people put genuine effort into their shorts. I personally try to put as much work as I would into a full video into a short when I do them which I wish I saw more people do
Content on the internet is now either shorter than a minute or longer than an hour. I think you can figure out which one usually has more "passion" as you put it.
you aren't the only one that feels this way foekoe. i try my hardest to make the best content i can, only to see other small creators get a rise in undeserved fame through little to no work by making shorts that just say " make me popular" i really hope quality content comes back, and that these shorts will die down.
I can’t help but agree with this. Flicking through a bunch of shorts just feels like I just cut a chunk of my brain out and melted it down to mush. I know that watching videos as a whole isn’t much better, but at least some videos have something to take away from it.
I'm the same way as you. Laying in bed scrolling through shorts for literal hours losing sleep and feeling awful, unable to put it down. Wish there was a way to disable shorts somehow
1. Go to the Shorts tab. 2. Click on the three dots in the corner of one of the shorts. 3. Click "Not interested." 4. Keep doing this until the tab is completley gone. This method worked for me when i tried to get rid of it and it is super easy. I only to remove two tabs of addicting content until it was completley gone. Hope it helps!
I am the only person in my class who doesn't have tik tok or uses yt shorts purely because I know that it obliterates your attention span and I love rt game's long form content way too much to go the opposite direction
I’m the only person my age I know who doesn’t watch it or really use any social media except discord or RUclips but I don’t think they are social media
What sucks for me is that I totally agree with you, but I can’t stop consuming this content because it’s so easy. I want to play more video games or make art, but I’m so unmotivated, and this content is just so addicting! Great video, dude.
Remember when creators actually tried to make their content unique instead of copying everyone else with a few tiny modifications? Feels like forever ago at this point.
@@VeraVemaVena gameplay channels are copies of each other technically like "oh this person recorded a gameplay and commented on it with his voice and face,I'm gonna do it too" and everybody copied the same way.
every time i get off a youtube short binge i think "i could've been doing work or gaming. i just forgot what i was watching faster than i could forget the best dream of my life after waking up."
Y know, you do inspire and remind me that I should try to make a genuine passion of content if I ever have time, and not join the pile of trash and crappy pranks
Honestly I am both surprised and glad I avoided getting involved in tiktok and RUclips shorts because of how it seems most people around me are obsessed with TikTok and hearing about this cycle people get locked into, it’s just shocking to see this all happen and not be in it myself.
Yeah, my friends are constantly like you should get TikTok, but as soon as TikTok came around I despised it and made a promise to never get TikTok, and I do not regret it lol
You know… some people are so addicted to shorts that when I try to convince them to quit, they lash out at me. They write in ALL CAPS and swear at me in every single sentence. It is like trying to convince a flat earther that the earth is round.
> hates short form content > video is 5 minutes Jokes aside, I completely agree Foekoe... I honestly wish there was a way I could just turn of RUclips shorts because I always end up saving a video to watch later, then when I actually have time to watch it I just get sucked into meaningless content for hours and it makes me feel weird afterwards. I will always love your content man, I appreciate the passion you put into your work.
There is a way to completely get rid of them just go to the browser version of youtube and it's completely gone although the browser version is kinda shit beacuse it's ment for computers not your phone
I wish this trend of "short-formed" content is just like any of trend and dies down, because it's sad seeing the level that people go down to to get temporary popularity on the internet. Not only does it motivate creators to make worse content but it also has an effect on the viewers. It's nice to see some people who are against it.
I do agree that the cringe will die down soon although my prediction is that in about 5 to 10ish years the government in England (where I live in) will ban all short vid cringe-milking platforms due to how much crime is happening due to people milking the algorithms to take advantage of new people to watch they’re cringe
Nicely done video. I want to point the "sad" moment from my viewpoint. I have made content creation like animation for about 2-3 years. A lovely moment with a lot of earned experience with programs like Vegas Pro, Clip Studio etc. At the middle of my career I noticed a strong, impassible sense of nausea and, yeah, sadness from the oppressing RUclips guidelines, which retroactively tells you to remake your most famous video with the trend of the moment to maintain the fanbase through their algorithm. This is why we see a lot of Poppy Playtime or FNAF in the style of Minecraft. I don't consider these videos bad, they just follow the average appeal. What scares me the most is the creator's passion stamina. Yeah, you earn money if you do a they ask, for sure. But the gap between your ideas and the RUclips requirements for success gets bigger and bigger until you are forced the just... Recycle. And if you are a content creator this is a bad thing for your creativeness, because content creators are artists, and artists have to express their design. If your mean to create art is extremely barebones like nowadays on RUclips, you either do like people do on TikTok or just quit, because these mediums are not for (all the) content creators. I definitely miss the old days for the fact that you didn't have to worry of these things. Now you do, and content creation isn't the same anymore.
I actually learned this myself from watching too much youtube. I stopped looking at hype or clickbaity stuff because it didn't give me anything in return making me feel feelings of : -Non-productivity -Dumbnes -And overall emptiness. Which made me reevaluate whats trully important to me And from then on from time to time I tried to unsubscribe from people whose content didnt brought anything worth to my life Thanks to that im more causious of what im watching. Tiktok basicly throws it all out of a window and does not let me control all of that I hope i got the message out clearly.
I feel genuinely uncomfortable watching TikToks and RUclips shorts. They make me feel like I'm wasting my time on this planet yet I go back to them at least once a day. There has been Soo many times where I have had a good video idea but I'm too lazy to do it. TikTok is slowly seeping into everyone's lives. I mean my friends will blast them into the mic when we are waiting to load into a game. They suck. Also watch Funke and Scott the Woz they are amazing
They both appeared in 1:18, alongside some other RUclipsrs I recognize, like Internet Historian, Alan Becker, Emplemon, Dolan Dark, Uncle Dane, and a few others I was too lazy to name.
As someone who loves to create, it really sticks out to me when someone actually made something that THEY wanted to make. And it also painfully sticks out when they make something just to be popular or some other boring motive. Look at the comments in this video, the pinned comment is a silly joke and the other hearted one is like that because Foekoe read through it, found it to be an interesting addition to the discussion, and decided to heart it because it adds to his own video. One thing that really bugs me about "Short-form" content is that it's a massive example of quantity over quality. I'd much prefer longer videos that have a central theme or idea instead of getting a seizure from tons of half-baked ones that cram it into a single minute. The only "Short-form" stuff I like on RUclips is stuff that's not trying to pass itself off as 'content', like shitposts, since they're just a silly low effort idea someone had and wanted to share.
Foekoe you are not small but you're so honest no sponsors its nice to see that there are still really good content creators you're up there with videogamedunkey pyronical high quality content keep going i supported my favorite youtuber done
Sponsors aren't all that bad, you gotta make some extra money somehow. If you're talking about those RUclipsrs who have every video sponsored by Raid Shadow Legends and other sewage sludge games then go ahead.
@@VeraVemaVena yeah its fine but it can be annoying if foekoe makes a shorter video he criticised raid so he probably wont get a sponsor im obsessed with foekoe every video watched twice to 20times lol
I honestly think the worst part about these type of short videos is how they're addictive to the point where they ruin our attention spans making us want short videos more than normal ones I may sound like a boomer here but I'm seriously worried about future generations
im also worried about future generations i bet there attention spans will be so bad eventually that schools will have to do some funky stuff to make the lesson more engaging to the point where they'll barley learn anything.
All of my friends who consume tiktok and other short form content have bad attention spans. I love them a lot but my god I cannot stand it when they start watching tiktok out of nowhere while we're talking.
@@teehee42069 I relate to that too, when I try calling one of my friends they dont even pay attention to me, unless their mother is around them or something.
The attention span problem was brought up since the days of 4chan, I did my due diligence and most studies I can find see no link between using social media and attention spans
i feel exactly the same about short form content, it's so addicting and so uninteresting at the same time, it's mind numbing really. the only shorts i don't regret watching are styropyro and nile red's but even those feel lacking compared to even their shorter videos
personally i have tiktok and i get sucked into watching shorts pretty commonly but it doesn't really affect my mood, it just makes me spend like an hour and a half in my bed and i do miss the passion youtube had as well. i haven't watched youtube ever since 2005 (because i wasn't alive back then) but i also grew up on this platform in a sort of way and i miss the fun stuff, and people who actually cared about making banger videos so i kind of agree with this video, keep up the good work foekoe! you are one of the last few people who put passion and love into your videos and i appreciate it!
Yeah I pretty much agree. The evolution from vine to TikTok is really bizarre. It just turned from funny talented people doing something funny and creative, to how can I make this guy stay on my platform longer? Like there are still cool people out there but the trash screams louder
As a content creator, I always try to avoid jumping on meme or content bandwagons, because to me it just feels like I'm getting undeserved views and likes for something I put very little effort into. There's a certain feeling of satisfaction I get after pouring hours of work and passion into a video edit and seeing it get even just 100 views. I wouldn't get that same feeling seeing a short-form shitpost I spent maybe 10 minutes editing get a million views.
I have the same thought as you, man. As a content creator also, it is VERY satisfying on a video you have passion on. It's kinda like the same feeling as finishing all of your homework. It feels awarding and makes me feel happy about myself :)
I have the same thought too as if I posted the same content in like 2013 i would have 300 subs by now or even more but thanks to shorts and short attention spans my vids arent exactly given their propers, even when I do something creative or put effort into something
One nice thing that came out of Tik-Tok's focus on short-form videos was people on RUclips focusing more on longer content, like documentaries such. One lad that is pretty much the king of long-form - and blew up in popularity last year - was a guy named Wendigoon. I know I shouldn't be shilling a lad here, but he makes some good stuff.
I remember going on my phone and just watching youtube videos and then I just see youtube shorts and I tap on the screen and never stop watching it. It was just too addicting for me great video Foekoe
I understand how you feel, I had people commenting on my channel saying "your animations would get more popular if u put them in shorts" and I always have to tell them that I'm not animating to be popular, I'm doing it because it's my passion it's something I enjoy I don't care about money or attention
I'm so glad I was around the golden era of RUclips, and it's very sad seeing newer generations thinking Tiktok is the best thing to ever exist and not knowing what they missed out on
This will be the "good old days" to them too and saying in ten years this exact same thing, with a youtuber like this guy talking about how annoying the new features are
i hate that because that basically means you can straight up steal someone's content for a bit and then be like "this is mine! make me popular now!!!" its like the same energy as tracing stuff and then passing it off that you made it like goddamn why.
As someone who attempting to pursue streaming as a career, shorts content is a pretty good way to kick it off due to its algorithm, and it requires less patience than youtube. Since videos get viral pretty much randomly and often, it's a good starting point before branching out into more long term options such as RUclips or Twitch. Edit: I do agree that most shorts content is very lazy though, and there's also a massive content theft problem on tiktok and probably other platforms too. It is a shame to see lazy content get so many views, but I have seen a lot of people with a genuine passion for tiktok.
If you study content creation for long enough, you’ll find that the passionate ones are the ones who have the most longevity and trust from the audience. If you lack passion and effort, it’s noticeable. Chasing numbers is largely arbitrary
I feel the same way with this short content. i'd rather watch a 10 minute video than a 60 second one and most of the good shorts creators have long videos on another channel.
@@SurmenianSoldier they could use mrbeast tho. Far more kids that would attack the troll= more attention, more subs that the reply is about= more attention, universally loved = more attention.
I wish someone would make a hacked version of RUclips where it just completely blocks RUclips shorts. A while ago, I decided that I wouldn't watch shorts anymore, but I still click on one when I see it and then I instantly get sucked into a loop of scrolling. I think that when it gets to the point where someone has to literally make the conscious decision to not use a certain feature, that feature is a bad one. I'm glad that I'm not the only person with this opinion.
So glad someone is talking about this. Anytime I fall into a bottomless pit of 30 second videos I feel my brain melting into goo; but man it's sadly addicting. Hoping this will just be a corner or phase of the internet, not it's future. Love your videos so much, they make my day 😊 (also loved the infinite gameplay :D)
Dude this is so accurate! The algorithms aren't designed with your happiness in mind, they're just designed to keep you hooked forever and ever. It just wastes your time and ruins your attention span.
Just wanted to mention one of the rare examples of a high quality channel that focuses on shorts and takes advantage of the medium: ANDYLAND is great and has created some brilliant animations that take advantage of the looping nature of shorts!
I somehow managed to stop watching shorts by just watching longer content and creators from my childhood, I can actually scroll past shorts without caring at all. It's surprising really helped with my health and I have more time to do homework and go camping. It's WAY nicer than youtube shorts.
2:14 It's not bigger than google The search you are using as a base uses the number of requests for access to main servers for information. The tiktok code is poorly optimized asking for multiple times access to the servers unnecessarily inflating this number.
although I do agree with the mental health problems of short form content I will say that these tiktoks and "shorts" are a great for starting a community and just starting to make videos because for new people it can be scary paralyzing even and habing shorter videos can help with that problem
1:31 That's a word I haven't heard in a good time, for the time I've been consuming content I haven't seen passion in the majorities of videos I think that content creation is suppose to inspired others instead of making them feel sad because they don't have the popularity or just feel nothing about the content besides a simple wow or giggle, longer videos that have passion make you feel something, extreme happiness or excitement that's something that I wish I could see more often out of short videos.
the thing about youtube Shorts is that there really easy to get into the algorithm and most shorts and very low effort and easy to make, it’s basically easy to get views and attention with such low effort content
@The Real Princess Daddy People really see a tragedy involving someone/something and go "I bet making fun of this will get me attention!" Well congrats, you got it. Just keep in mind that attention and clout are different things, and you're not getting any of the latter.
At this point I only watch videos that are up to or over an hour long, because the creator can actually iron out their arguments rather than spitballing them and not explaining anything.
3:45 I feel really identified with this, you are just procastinating watching shorts and you can feel the low-quality content, even when you are cringing about all of the garbage you are consuming you just can't stop scrolling, they are definetly really adicting.
I remember back in the day my parents would prevent me from watching Nick a CN because they were "a bad influence" and how "old stuff good new stuff bad". And based on this video, in a way, a similar thing is happening to us as well. Not saying that "our parent were right all along" and stuff, just you know, we can't agree with everything. BTW hot take: Vine was never that great.
I feel like the difference with vine if you are comparing it to TikTok is that for vine, at least of what I saw it was just people who had fun ideas for videos, and it seemed to be the majority unless I am wrong, since I was a kid(still am lol) when vine was around, but still, I feel like vine is at least better then Tiktok
I also feel horrible jumping down the shorts rabbit hole. Yesterday I watched a 6 hour Game Grumps video and loved every second of it, so it just goes to show how little I care for short form content.
I enjoy long-form content a LOT more, either as background noise or my primary focus. It just feels like it has more substance. There is high-quality short-form content out there (marioinatophat makes great payday memes), but it's way harder to find than the cookie cutter garbage. Also, screw that vertical aspect ratio.
I've been trying to avoid this kind of content but I too could not escape it, and have gotten sucked into it. But it's also gotten me to really appreciate good quality youtubers that I really enjoy watching and you're one of the people I like the most on this platform. Keep making the content you love, because I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that watching a good long video like this or like other videos you've done will for ever be more entertaining and more rewarding than seeing these shorts that are now overtaking everything else.
I absolutely despise Tiktok. I think its one of the absolute biggest downfalls of our generation. It just teaches kids that being popular and doing cool dances over music is fuffiling, and its leading to this massive brain drain on kids. I remember seeing this artist on tiktok that painted photo-realistic paintings. It was amazing, but he barely gets any followers. Instead the most famous person on tiktok is a girl who does funny things with overlayed music. It just makes me depressed man.
Worst part is the kids in my school don't even watch the videos themselves, they just scroll through endlessly. I actually hate TikTok because of this, it is literally feasting on our attention span
Everyday, I believe more and more that humanity has salvation and the outcasts of society truly don't matter in the grand scheme of things, smart people like you will make a true diference
Yeah I really don’t like shorts, but I think the new “react meta” on twitch is much much worst. It’s a complete spit in the face to the creators of the shows and content creators who spend time and passion on making good content, it’s lazy and takes no effort whatsoever.
I woke up, watched this video agreeing wholeheartedly, then immediately afterward got sucked into the RUclips shorts for two hours. The irony. Now I'm two hours behind schedule. What a cruel world.
RUclips Shorts shits all over RUclips. Instead of rewarding people who make original content, it rewards those who copy and paste videos off of TikTok.
I never really understood the "Short form content is addicting" thing since I get bored of them after no kidding like 2 minutes if I'm in a patient mood. I can however watch a documentary about some random ass subject for like 5 hours straight. I guess I should be happy that I can't give less of a shit about shorts, but for those that do get addicted I heard it sucks. Get better ShitTok and RUclips Shits (yes I know cringe names stfu ok)
I can't believe I became a boomer even before I hit my 20s. Truth is, we are out of touch, tiktok is disgusting, until you realise it's because we're no longer part of the new trends. The same "miserable" point could be said about binging let's plays instead of playing the game, or playing an addicting game instead reading something, or reading something instead of actually doing anything fun irl, or doing meaningless crap instead of accomplishing fulfilling goals. To each their own level of what disgusts you.
Emperor Lemon has been one of the longest running creators since RUclipss creation. Massive respect to him for standing this long, and makes good shit over the longest time despite how youtube turned into over the years
I just realized that one inherent problem with most social media is that when you interact with something (i.e. a video, a post, anything that you have to interact with to see the full thing) you're gonna see more of that because you interacted with it, and most of us know that. And, it's been getting to the point where we stop looking at things that deserve to be looked at because yeah, it's good, but I don't feel like having my recommendations flooded with it right now. This could actually be solved fairly easily by adding an option to say "hey, I want to see more of this kind of stuff" (I'm not talking about a like button here, that makes it quantifiable and therefore would be used as a reward for the individual creator of the content. They should be two different things) At least, I think that would kind of work. It would be better than just flooding my recommended with stupid videos because I was curious and watched that other stupid video for three seconds longer :l
RUclips just cares about money now. The reason i still use RUclips is to watch game tutorials, free to play games (i dont wanna spend $80 on a game right now) and that's all! Short form videos are: -addicting -low quality -repetitve -inappropriate
all of the kid friendly attention grabbing bs on this platform really leaves most of the smaller creators like myself hopeless. ive been doing the best content i can slowly improving over time. no matter how hard i try to make the vid as entertaining as i can it always gets like 70 views in the first 2 weeks and then it goes up to like 200 in the next months. i refuse to make constant shorts instead of long passionate videos bc i think its a really scummy way to get an audience.
Short form content can be good when you're not looking to be invested in something yet want to be entertained, but when taking in large amounts is when the feeling of sadness and laziness kicks in.
I do agree. I absolutely hate the "shorts" and the "clips" channels. I literally see a dude with and among us profile picture and a roblox smiling face slapped on to it get 100+ views on a very short video that is rendered correctly, he used to be at like 13 subscribers, i haven't checked in on him in a while
Watching RUclips go from cool, weird, and funny videos to the trash heap it is now, just reinforces the idea that the more people geting into something the more shite that something will become. We need to purge the kids off this site so they stop bloating shitty youtubers, it's really sad lmao

Finally someone says it
Just like that one line:
You either be like vine and die being a hero, or be like tiktok and live long enough to see yourself become the villain of the story.
To be fair, people are doing this because of tiktok's algorithm. I think things would be very different if vine is still as popular and tiktok never existed

Or be like tiktok and live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

2. Click on the three dots in the corner of one of the shorts.
3. Click "Not interested."
4. Keep doing this until the tab is completley gone.
This method worked for me when i tried to get rid of it and it is super easy. I only to remove two tabs of addicting content until it was completley gone.

deleting tiktok was unironically the best thing i’ve done for my mental health in years
Nicely done video.
I stopped looking at hype or clickbaity stuff because it didn't give me anything in return making me feel feelings of :
-Non-productivity
-Dumbnes
-And overall emptiness.
Which made me reevaluate whats trully important to me
And from then on from time to time I tried to unsubscribe from people whose content didnt brought anything worth to my life
Thanks to that im more causious of what im watching.
Tiktok basicly throws it all out of a window and does not let me control all of that
I hope i got the message out clearly.
Hmm me too but in a early age
Me too. Honestly unsubscribing won't work, youtube will still post more addictive things in your feed. The best you can do is just to not use it.

As a shitty meme RUclipsr (Who's 99%of its content is just stolen) , i rarerly jump on trends because of that
I have the same thought too as if I posted the same content in like 2013 i would have 300 subs by now or even more but thanks to shorts and short attention spans my vids arent exactly given their propers, even when I do something creative or put effort into something
One nice thing that came out of Tik-Tok's focus on short-form videos was people on RUclips focusing more on longer content, like documentaries such.

Tiktok and short are not good. They need to be deleted. Shorts are not content. And for the record tiktok is poison.

Just wanted to mention one of the rare examples of a high quality channel that focuses on shorts and takes advantage of the medium:
ANDYLAND is great and has created some brilliant animations that take advantage of the looping nature of shorts!

2:14 It's not bigger than google
The search you are using as a base uses the number of requests for access to main servers for information. The tiktok code is poorly optimized asking for multiple times access to the servers unnecessarily inflating this number.

1:31 That's a word I haven't heard in a good time, for the time I've been consuming content I haven't seen passion in the majorities of videos I think that content creation is suppose to inspired others instead of making them feel sad because they don't have the popularity or just feel nothing about the content besides a simple wow or giggle, longer videos that have passion make you feel something, extreme happiness or excitement that's something that I wish I could see more often out of short videos.
i might sound crazy but there is a lot of videos in yt shorts that have a lot of passion and hard work on it that is actually funny
the thing about youtube Shorts is that there really easy to get into the algorithm and most shorts and very low effort and easy to make, it’s basically easy to get views and attention with such low effort content

They should be two different things)
At least, I think that would kind of work. It would be better than just flooding my recommended with stupid videos because I was curious and watched that other stupid video for three seconds longer :l

Short form content can be good when you're not looking to be invested in something yet want to be entertained, but when taking in large amounts is when the feeling of sadness and laziness kicks in.
I do agree. I absolutely hate the "shorts" and the "clips" channels. I literally see a dude with and among us profile picture and a roblox smiling face slapped on to it get 100+ views on a very short video that is rendered correctly, he used to be at like 13 subscribers, i haven't checked in on him in a while
It feels like it was made to be the most addiciting thing and 70% is the same
Watching RUclips go from cool, weird, and funny videos to the trash heap it is now, just reinforces the idea that the more people geting into something the more shite that something will become.
We need to purge the kids off this site so they stop bloating shitty youtubers, it's really sad lmao
