I applaud you, Strymon, for going into the more experimental realm with your pedals. I’ve always wanted to hear what your company is capable of with more unconventional effect types, so this perfect for me. I’m really stoked to try this one out. I hope you all continue to venture into the unknown. :)

    • @leo.nordmann
      @leo.nordmann 2 года назад

Yea I agree, there's already sooooo so many options for the usual effect types, even by strymon themselves. So I don't get why people have to hate on this, as they could just choose something else from the plathora of options.
      Edit:
Well it seems like the reception on this video is rather positive compared to the sequencer demo I just came from.

@@leo.nordmann Hi! How do you like the nighsky thus far?
For me its my favourite pedal over the last year, man every time I play it I learn something new about it. I think one needs a lot of time with Nighsky and multiple manual readthroughs to fully understand it. It sounds astonishing and almost feels like another instrument added in, reminds me of organs or fafisas sometimes....
      Really creative.
Sequencer is maybe a concept not that developed, but I think its only a minor part of it and still a lot of fun. I use sequencer into complex delay lines and bigsky, that is some killer sound! Cant wait until I get a volante, saw a video where nightsky sequencer is fed into a fully mechanics cranked volante, UNREAL!

How to write an awesome sci fi soundtrack:
1.- Put Nightsky and Volante side by side.
2.- Feed Nightsky a SOS loop from Volante.
3.- Press record and place catnip and toys over and around the pedals for good measure.
4.- Go for a bite, put on a good movie.
    5.- Done!

I own a NightSky, and the one BIG thing you have to be aware of, you will need an external midi controller, it can hold 300 patches in 3 banks, BUT they have no librarian to keep track of this so you better think about it, also you can not access the next 8 patches from Strymond unless you can send controller, and PC messages, now you can create cool patches fast, but where do you store them? and how do you retrieve them? I reached out to Strymond and their words are you must buy an external control and figure out a patch librarian on your own, now that being said, I own a Morningstar MC8 and have begun to make and store my own patches, but at this price point you will have to invest in another controller to take advantage of this pedal...this is never mentioned in any review that I have seen yet, and its a BIG deal at this price point...Helix, Eventide H9 all have advanced editor/ librarian software to support their pedals, this does not...

Wonder if this will appear as a eurorack module at some point, like the eurorack Magneto to the Volante. There could be a load patch inputs to control the modulatable sections. You can a lot of this now in modular but you need a lot of modules which would cost a lot more and having it in one would sure be a great space saver. I like the quantizable tails and a CV input for an external sequencer input would be great too but by the looks of thing they can be played over midi which is nice :-)

All pedal producers realize synth players are an expanding part of the market. And this pedal was clearly designed (and marketed) with that in mind. with terms like 'reverberant syntheses", adding essentially a LFO section with multiple waveforms, and the featured promo vid for it is all synths/sound design, has no guitar at all.

I like a lot of what this can do but I'm not sure I have space for more reverb. You can really hear delay elements in this pedal and I'm wondering if the reverb reflections can be lowered. In other words, if I don't need reverb, can I make use of the rest of this pedals power somehow?

I've been thinking about getting a synthesizer, but I want it to give me the ability to deep dive on reverb, modulation, and such. I've also been looking at doing sequencing with a guitar pedal... and hoping that some such thing would exist. Two weeks ago, I had no idea this pedal was out there, or that instead of a sequencer within a synthesizer, I actually want a synthesizer trapped inside a guitar pedal.
    Weird.
    But I like it.

Good lord! How did I miss this? You guys basically designed this pedal for me (me, the guy who did a 25 minute youtube video of me just playing with my big sky making all kinds of noises guitars don't normally make). WHEN is it available? 2:18 sounds straight out of Eno's "Apollo" record. Gorgeous.

Critics: Sure Strymon conquered the market for traditional reverbs with the Big Sky but they could never create something unique for us experimental players!

Wished you all would have included the clean tone of the pedal steel "Floating" example. I'm going to try recreate that with my Big Sky,timeline and some of the octave generators in the hx stomp. If I don't get it I'm going to be so tempted to by this pedal for that one sound

Once my Effects loop is converted from parrallel to series I'll get a Strymon tape Echo machine.
I can't believe how much I get out of my Riverside.
    This thing is madness.
