Hi thanks for the video. At the beginning you show a few adaptors including the one for iphone/ipad. I purchased that adaptor for iPad but it appears that librarian ap only works via bluetooth when using an ipad/iphone. Luckily I already purchased a very cheap android tablet sole for using katana librarian (works great) but people please note you cannot connect your iPad by cable to your katana and make the ap work... you need either a blue tooth adaptor for the amp or one of those airstep things. Shame because I'd hoped that I would just be able to connect up my iphone for gigs rather than have to take the tablet with me.
Yeah, my apologies. I didn't have all of the information when I made the video and I've always used android. I didn't find out that OTG to lightning cable doesn't work until about a month after I made the video. I don't understand why that hasn't be resolved with iPhone/iPad yet.
The easiest cord that works for me on android phone was USB B (back of amp connection) to USB C. Bought online, sent the next day. Works perfect, get the 6ft not 3ft.
Everything I read said to buy some Bluetooth adapter. How has nobody suggested this. I just ordered a USB-B to lighting for my iPhone. Hope that’ll work and it’s only $10
Hey Scott! Thanks for doing such great videos!! You really do a thorough job-really appreciate you! I'm a new Katana MKii EX user, and have both the GA-FC EX and the standard GA-FC linked. I've been using the Tone Studio, but I'm having a helluva time matching the amp volume across all the 8 patches I have loaded. Also, I'm having trouble getting the settings right so that when I change between channels, they always default to having the Boost off. Would really appreciate some guidance, particularly on the 1st issue. I've had trouble finding any good reference material to help me with this. Thanks a ton~!
So addressing the volume. I set my master at a specific point and then use the editor to get my patch volumes to match and then save them to the channel. Once you do that, you may want to drag them back into Tone Studio after saving them to the amp and overwriting the old one. As far as boost, set the bosot you want to use and then turn it off and write it to the amp. Then drag it back to the liveset to overwrite the old file. Now when you load it on the amp, you should be able to toggle the boost on/off, with it being in the off position at first. I hope that helps.

I want to be able to use this app on my tablet in a live situation, but I'm not sure how to get my patches from tone studio into the librarian app? Any pointers gratefully appreciated, thanks.

I recently subbed to your channel and I'm very new to all of this so I apologize if I'm misunderstanding you, but I'm kind of confused by what you said in the last segment of this video. You were explaining how to save a patch to the panel of the Katana using the app, but you said that the patch would be gone ( panel reset to default ) once the Katana was turned off and back on again. Is there no way to keep the patch saved to one of the memory banks on the Katana's panel using this app? Hopefully I've misunderstood you on this because I was planning on buying the app and a tablet so that I'd be able to actually take advantage of the Boss Tone Studio ( or librarian ) and everything it has to offer. If I'm not able to save patches and transfer them into the memory banks on the panel of the amp and keep them there then I've had the wrong impression of the Katana since I made the decision to buy it in the first place. Your help is greatly appreciated btw.
Yeah, I see how that can be confusing. So you have 4 to 8 total channels, depending on the amp you have. Then you have the "panel" button. The panel button is what the physical panel of the amp has on it. So if you want to save/write a patch to the amp, you have to write it to one of the channels (from the library) and NOT the panel, because the panel channel will revert back to whatever settings are currently on the physical panel of the amp once you turn it off. If you write it to one of the channels of bank A or B, then that's where it is saved. Does that clarify it?
Definitely, it just dawned on me that you might've been referring to the panel itself vs the individual channels. I was actually in the process of editing my comment to ask about the memory bank channels specifically while you were answering my question apparently, lol. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my question and I appreciate the time you put into these videos too. What's the difference between the boss librarian and the katana man App?
I don't have the pro version of Katana Man, but I have also heard good things about it. I haven't used the free one enough to really be able to assess it, but the only thing I noticed was that it was all vertical and the short time that I used it, I couldn't get it into horizontal mode. Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. Perhaps I'll spend $9 on that one too and give it a shot.
Would this work for the Katana Artist Mk 2??
Yes, it works for all of the Katana MK2's.
So does this app work with the katana MK2 50 ?
Yes, it works with all of the Katana MK2's.
Can you use this to update the Katana's firmware?
Unfortunately not.
@@Guitarnivore thank you
is this app compatible with Boss katana 50 mkII?
It's compatible with all of the MK2s.
Can I use a Bluetooth usb receiver
I don't know if that'll work with Android, but I know the only way to connect a iOs device is with a blue tooth WiDi adapter. There is a facebook group from the creators of the app on Facebook. You might want to ask them there. facebook.com/groups/1048712059054887/
I need patches for pink floyd 🥺
Can anyone confirm if the app works with the new katana 50 mk2 EX?
It will work with any Katana mk2.
Is it a 1 time purchase
Yes! And you can put it on multiple tablets.
So here's my thing bro, I can go into system settings where I can change and set my global EQ's, but yours has the option to save or delete above it, up top. I don't know how to save my global EQ's because my iPad doesn't give me the save option above. Or the delete option for that matter. So every time I go and set it, every time I close the app it doesn't save it
I don't have any experience with ipad, but I would try setting the global EQ in Tone Studio if you can and that should save it right to the amp itself.
@@Guitarnivore my problem is I can't use Tone Studio with the laptop we have
@@wally-001 You have the paid version of Librarian, right? If so, reach out to Juca Neary on this Facebook group. he may be able to help you out. I think he's involved with it somehow. facebook.com/groups/2098357327092217
@@Guitarnivore will do thank you!
Will this work with the Katana Mk1
Yes. These are all of the Katans it works with:
• KATANA-50
• KATANA-50 MkII
• KATANA-50 MkII EX
• KATANA-100
• KATANA-100 MkII
• KATANA-100/212
• KATANA-100/212 MkII
• KATANA-HEAD
• KATANA-HEAD MkII
• KATANA-Artist
• KATANA-Artist MkII
• KATANA-Artist MkII HEAD
@@Guitarnivore Can this be used as a total replacement for Tone Studio so I don't have to use a PC every time I want to add or edit a patch to my amp? I'm very new to this so hopefully this wasn't a dumb question. Thanks!
@@MeR-md1jq Absolutely. If you don't like Tone Studio or connecting toa computer, you can just use Librarian.
You're rappin' off terms like everyone already knows what that shit means.
Does it work on ios IPads?
It does, but you have to get a bluetooth WiDi adapter and it seems like a big hassle from what I've heard.
Cost me the equivalent of $13.69, not $9 in the UK
Seems the price has gone up in the last year. $11.99 here now.
So youre not using it on your phone obviously
I was using it on my tablet, mirrored to my PC.
@@Guitarnivore changes everything when you're using a mouse to click on everything. Seems like it wouldn't work well on a cell phone
@@neilnolin823 use your finger. I use it on my cell phone too. I just did it this way to make it easier to record and demonstrate. This isn't my app. I am not affiliated with it in any way, so please don't think I'm trying to sell it to you. I just try to help people learn this stuff easier. I prefer Tone Studio most of the time I'm editing.
@@Guitarnivore sorry, didn't mean to come across that way. I'm trying to find a user friendly way to use this amp for jams. I tried the katana library before but it was a pain in the butt! Wish I could just use the front panel without any apps or computers lol
That’s what she said 🤣
You really didn't explain anything thanks
Maybe you're just a little slow. Thanks.
