It's nothing but insane how a game that came out in 2002 is still receiving updates in 2023. Thank you and the team for your dedication into continuing to make this game one of the best driving sims even 20 years later.
@@viliamvacula8111 People just don't remember what games looked like 20 years ago I think. Look at the oldest LFS video on youtube, LFS came out 3 years before that.. The lighting and textures were really bad compared to what they are now. The game doesn't look like a 2023 title, but also definitely looks better than a 2002 title.
It took them years to add headlights tho, like it is not ideal.I don't even how they survived tho because they don't have a subscription system or anything. maybe license sales were enough EDIT: maybe this game is a front for a drug empire.
@@beeleaveme Hell yeah, drifting was great in LFS. Shame they didn't allow mods back then, and banned people for using them, that's basically what killed the game for me - lack of a properly powerful FR car to drift
Every time I see LFS, a sense of nostalgia takes over me. I played it like crazy around 20 years ago day and night, and I'm happy to see that the game still lives on. Currently, I'm playing Assetto Corsa Competizione, but I still consider LFS to be one of the best simulations ever! !!!
I have over 400.000 miles driven in LFS over the years on multiple accounts. My favorite being the LTC and LC Cruise servers back in the day.. I have sadly moved over to other titles in the later years but LFS is what got me into simracing and its still the game I have enjoyed the most out of all the racing titles /sims I own. LFS holds a special place in my heart and always will, love from Norway,

I just love LFS. It is one of the most authentic immersive racing experiences without excessive bells and whistles. And because it is so easy on the specs, you can install it onto anything.
remember playing this as a kid, modding cars, using tweaker to increase car power and change wheel sizes Had a lot of fun just with AI races, custom setups and increased engine power Great to see that game is still alive :D
I tried the AI, tested old versions vs new version and the change is massive. Set a grid in reverse order to power. The AI controlling old versions will collide between them all times, on this version the powerful cars overtake with no prob
Very refreshing video! I'm really happy that you included the PZG Compact! Even though I still haven't uploaded the updated version for 0.7E. Yesterday I got myself thinking how much LFS has changed. Today we are taking the mods system for granted, but few years ago it was just a dream. Hope everything goes well with the development in 2024, so we can see Live for Speed continue improving and evolving. ❤

Man, remember playing it something about 2003. Mouse steering was a thing, many years after got my first wheel, only spring driven, without ffb. Then got T150 (Playseat challenge), build alu profile rig, jumped to T300 (both t3pa, added brake LC, DIY BMW M6 GT3 rim) and finally upgraded to CSL DD with Maclaren rim and CSL elite pedals v2. But LFS was the first game that got me into steering without keyboard, took my attention for steer input. Glad to see LFS is still alive and keep on going.
Still alive and kicking ;) I played it with my dad using my first wheel: Microsoft Sidewinder FF - it was the first time I felt immersion improving times by fractions of seconds. I was hooked.
I remember clearly that when I was a child, I used to refer to this game as a bad game because I didn't know that not all racing games can be played well with a keyboard. I can't wait to try it again with the steering wheel
Thank you for continuing to improve this amazing sim! I’ve played off and on since the early days, but really became dedicated about two years ago. I really appreciate the support and work towards improving the modding community. It’s revolutionized the game in recent years in my opinion!
Ah, this hits me hard in the chest. Was it20 years ago, really? I'm just so happy to see this game still in development. I've learnt so much from it, and it's still one of the best sim I think. You guys made me save up for a wheel, back then I've only used my garbage joystick for driving games, but I had to use heel and toe with this game to be competetive! Ahh, the memories :)
I have gone from a small boi pirating the full game to play it offline with all the cars vs. AI in 2003-2004 to now having this video in my recommendations and thinking I just should give them money (by purchasing the full S3) for their perseverance and all the fun times had online with the free version. MANY, MANY fun times. When bois in my class discovered it back in the early '00s, we played it even in the computer lab.

Great to see this sim still getting updates. Though I haven't touched in a while after moving on to more modern sims, everytime I do revisit it, I'm blown away by how well it holds up. It's a very immersive and realistic sim even for today's standards.

I'm so happy this game is still alive. Once I get my own place to live (I currently have no room for my wheel setup) I'm getting back into dumping hours into this game. It's been far too long.

This isn't going to go anywhere, but... why don't you work on bringing in new people? There's practically no one... an automatic racing system or something, some offer or cost reduction to attract new people. I no longer play LFS; it's a nice simulator but lacks races, only events... I want to race when I have time, not just in events. Regards.
i completely agree! a match making system like iracing or acc could largely benefit LFS as a whole, rn if u dont have time for events all you can do is race against friends (if u have em) or ai, and if the ai isnt ur jam ur stuck doing time attacks and going cruise servers
