Well done Fran on your skills in reversing You said that this is a boat yard but should that boat have been on the right side near the wall. Your left not the two together the single one. Great use of hand by the way did you hit the bricks alittle. Either way very good work
Thank you. The boats all belong to the boat yard and are being worked on. I think they had nowhere else to put it.

Often when I see some of those weirs along the canals I worry about chicks getting stuck, washed away or falling because of them.

Tend not to comment on old vlogs as I catch up through the back catalogue, but that reversing, Fran, was a piece of genius. Suspect you'll be even better on the longer boat particularly with bow thrusters.

Hi Fran and Rich, so I reached episode 100 yesterday! Goodness what a journey you've had! I have been absolutely gripped and love watching and finding out where you go next - the scenery looks so lovely! I'm also learning so much about herbs Fran. Ian and I are going to do a curry soon and tomorrow we're going to look for nettles with my gardening gloves tho not bare hands! We also want to make some Elderflower Cordial too! I have only just discovered your channel and am now binge watching.. I was born in Ashton - in - Makerfield near Wigan and I do have a vague memory as a child of seeing a canal with clysdale horses pulling a long boat but Im not sure where. I now live in Australia and do have a chuckle when you say you had a hot night and it was 22C... a hot night here is when the temperature doesnt go below 30C .. I will go back to the UK one day and visit my home town but in the meantime Ill keep watching your videos :)

I was moored on the aqueduct for 12 days and also experienced boaters gunning through there. When I first moored up my pins worked loose because of the waves. I then moved onto the rings. I think also because the concrete is so new the waves bounce back perfectly formed. There was trouble down there with lads nicking barge poles and knocking plant pots off boats at 3 and 4am on 2 occasions. Nice spot but not without its issues.
That's a shame that you had trouble there. We had no issues like that thankfully

Best pub garden in Llangollen is the hand hotel , over the bridge, left at the war memorial, hundred yards on the right and the garden is on the opposite side of the road on the left looking over the river and castle. I've done loads of videos in Llan , most beautiful village I've lived in.

Thanks for another great chapter in your storybook adventures. Rescuing chicks in the middle of the night and buying lovely fashions from the towpath. But how did you reverse all the way past those boats to get to your pump out, Fran? That was amazing work because others have said what a difficult manoeuvre it is to reverse in a narrowboat. Well done.
So with difficulties like that have you thought about going to compost toilets like a number of other Boat-Tubers have done?

How do you steer when in reverse as I thought the direction was determined by the water going over the rudder from the propulsion.?

Why dont you open all the locks at once ?
The gates paddles have to be opened slowly one by one otherwise the water is too fierce and will push the boat around

Hi both, still catching up. Now up to number 24 on vlogs and wait for it hubby has now joined me in watching. He thoroughly enjoys it too, what with watching Foxes Afloat Colin and Shaun...usual TV just disappears now.
Wonderful weaving Fran, only recently sold my weaving loom and now just have a lap one. I went the whole hog at one time. Pure fleece from sheep, washed carded it, spun it. It was great fun, but times change and life moves on.

Glad you're enjoying the videos. Times do change and it is important to move with them. I have thought about getting s lap loom just as I could pick it up easier in the evenings rather than taking over the whole boat, but I'll carry on for a while as I do love my loom.

Nicely done with that reversing at Middlewich! Never realised that arm went back so far. Really tricky with their whole consortium fleet being in at once too - that must be a rarity.
I love stopping for fish & chips from the Kings Lock chippy, and The Branch generally.
It seems to go back even further when you're going in reverse!! Lovely chips though
