Gwaan Brinsley. been with you since the Double Deckers, Babylon and Aswad! Respect.
Won the signed copy of Aswad's album many years ago New Chapter has a Huge place in my vinyl collection from the David Rodigan show Aswad has always been my favourite British reggae band and 1st member of their fan club, RIP George Oban and Angus Drummie Zeb Gaye. Wish Drummie Zeb was alive to tell his story on Muscle's show What a great talent he was, and a great drummer. RIP Delroy Washington.
Reggae of the seventies up until mid eighties was great.
Now it’s stagnant.
Time for (this) music to evolve/ innovate.
Forgot to say I was on the stage that night at Meanwhile Gardensl when Aswad did live and Direct, what a brilliant show, I remember King Sounds were on first first then Aswad came on, me and my friends were on the stage skanking and flashing our natty to the lovely music being played.. I always wished that session was recordeed as it would have shown a bunch of youths enjoying a truly great show. I asked King Brinsley about the show and he said it was'nt filmed because it was to dark at the time, nevertheless it was still a great memory. Big Up Brinsley 🔴🟡🟢⚫
I could listen to Brinsley talk forever, great stories that reminded me so much of my youth. Bob Marley was my first concert at Brighton Center, my Brother and I never missed an Aswad show. Had the honor of cooking for them on the distant thunder tour, they loved their apple and ginger crumble with custard but couldnt stop Henry and Patrick nicking sandwiches off the crew bus LOL Happy Happy days . Nicest bunch of lads you could ever meet.
Big Up Brinsley Dan, one of my favourite singer from longtime, i had the pleasure of meeting the King and he did not disappoint as he was approachable and left a good vibe with I&I. took a photo and i still treasure the meeting. Bless up King Brinsley and Bless again farda Muscle. Ras K.C
My Father introduced me to Aswad in 1976, I was 7 years old, Three Babylon & Back To Africa was the tracks I heard first. Followed them for years.
I met them in 83 age 5!! ileyyy
I used to live in London but am now in America. Warrior Charge/ Bubbling are on my reggae playlist of tunes that I play at full volume when I drive up and down in Atlanta. Big up to Brinsley for his contributions to reggae and for being so down to earth.
How was England vs usa.
Thank you 🙏 I’ve watched all Brinsley’s interviews on RUclips. I’m a massive Aswad fan, I’m 57 and still listen to the band at least once a week. That interview was the first that answered all the questions that I’ve wondered about for years thanks again.
Brinsley a true gent great to hear his stories and see him still doing good big up!
Well done Muscle, Brinsley's story should be a movie. Best concert I ever saw was Aswad at Brooklyn botanical garden in1984.
ASWAD MUSIC WILL NEVER GO OUT OF STYLE... TRUE AFRICAN TEACHINGS IN THE MUSIC...
Best music performance I ever witnessed was Aswad in meanwhile Gardens at the Notting Hill Carnival circa 1981 1982. They were literally on Fyah.
Real legend. Big up Mr Forde.
Absolutely brilliant interview. Thank you Brinsley for excellently articulating the UK/ Jamaican cultural relationship. This was truly great cultural documenting. Peter Tosh does not often get the credit he deserves in terms of his contribution to carrying, representing and building the music. It was fantastic for you to share your drama and acting career on this platform. Well done Muscle for drawing for Brinsley not always an obvious choice for interviewing.
Been a fan for over 30 years and to hear that Mr Forde is doing mighty works in my country zambia is full circle for me. God bless you big man.
League of their own here in UK. Anyone who followed them from b4 the no 1 knew it was inevitable 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I watched this interview twice so great to see this. Have been an Asdwad fan for years. Ladbrook Grove will always be synonymous with them. I have had the pleasure to see them at least 5 times and each show was absolutely superb. I also met them back in the 80s, when as a young woman I lived in London for a year. They were so lovely in Particular Brinsley. May Drummie Zeb RIP. Thanks Muscle this was an awesome Interview 👌🏿
Muscle you asked some really great questions not just superficial ones allowing us to understand Brinsley from the start to the present. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Thank you brother brinsley forde and ASWAD for your great music and all the good times had by many through the year's listening and stepping to it.😊. Not forgetting your acting career as well which was also blessed. OGOAODESTINY. 🙂👑🇧🇧🏝️

Great Interview, Give Thanks!👊🏾💯🔥
Muscle great vibes from this interview .. Keep up the good work.. 🙏🏿
Good work.. This definitely could have been a multi interview session like the Duckie Simpson one. So many years to cover. Hoping for a part 2. I was fortunate to see Aswad live in Southern California for Sunsplash Tour in Irvine Meadows, Long Beach for Bob Marley Days & at The House of Blues in Hollywood for support of the Shine album. Solomon was just a kid then. Didn't know he was Drummie's son & glad he is carrying on the tradition.
Warrior Charge wasn't mentioned but it's my all time "steppers" favourite
Great interview..David Hinds of Steel Pulse next?
Yes...👍 We do need a David Hinds interview...From one of the Greatest Reggae bands ever...💫 STEEL PULSE.
Grew up listening to Aswad, legendary in England 💯
Great interview Muscle
Words of wisdom Brinsley
ASWAD MY FAVORITE BAND SAW THEM FIRST TIME IN JAMAICA YOUTH CONSIOUSNESS CONCERT STADIUM WITH BUNNY WAILERS, PETER TOSH, JIMMY CLIFF,MARCIA GRIFFITHS 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I saw a comment honouring the best 10 reggae uk bands, OK Ok, no 1 has to be steel pulse,David the lead singer has got such a unique voice its unbelievable, no 2 Aswad, sadly no other group can make my chart except misty roots,as they still touring as no 3,but if you talking the biggest selling records of uk reggae bands, then no1 has to go to ub40,but I really can't class them as roots reggae,or musical youth lol 😀 😜 😳 😉 😀
Spot on
...seen them both over 35 years all over the country and America...steel pulse are the kiddees
Cancelled my evening out to watch this interview absolutely captivating, could listen to this brothers stories for hours. Big respect for this one 👌🏾✊🏿🔥
Glad you enjoyed it
@@EntertainmentReportPodcast thank you brother keep them coming and jah bless you ✊🏿
Thanks for sharing!. Wow a ripe opportunity to ask about the jam sessions with the Wailers in England was wasted. Would of liked to hear about the brotherhood & inner workings of the band, any tensions on the rise, or insight on the breakup of the band, Peter Tosh playing on the melodica, etc. Great work though. Perhaps another chance will come again.
Nice to learn from the legend 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Muscle 💪 big up
Awesome interview!!!
Islington heard the name of that place from Black Uhuru ❤️
Bless up 🙏🏾..
Wow the story of Chris Blackwell & the boat with the rastas, that story sounds like the movie Countryman, I wonder if Chris Blackwells experience was the catalyst for the movie.
Something clearly happened in the band that was quite serious for Brinsley to part ways. He seemed quite uncomfortable when he was asked about that. Trying not to say anything. I remember that interview from when he left where he made reference to "religious reasons" for leaving. Neither he nor Tony or Drummie ever spoke of it publicly, and I give them massive respect for that.
I saw Aswad play in about 2008 and they were still on top form. Drummie was funny as heck! But his health gradually deteriorated. Performances from the last 5 years of his life are hard to watch to be honest. He looked very frail and his once-silky, warm became progressively hoarse and weak. May he rest in Power.
Mmm very interesting interview .
Great interview different perspective
Excellence interview.
That movie you star in BABYLON ...
Yuh lucky you got to reason with Brinsley he dont really do interviews.
Gwwan Musscle

Did i miss it or did the promised land with Dennis not come up in this conversation?
Which album had the song fire in the dancehall? It was in the Notorious B.I.G. movie.
Too Wicked
Dellroy Washington is probably related to the actress Kerry Washington
Many Jamaicans didn't know their own relatives who they sometimes went to school with. Aswad members are non Jamaicans
Content Gap is the Blue Mountain Range

Nice one 👍 LISONGPIJAM
He’s talking Dave Stewart from Eurythmics & Peter Gabriel in Russia
Content Gap is freezing 🥶 cold
💚💛❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥💨💨💨💨
Aswad needed a real singer, that was there fundamental problem,as from early Angus/drummie sang songs on their albums, you all need to listen to your recipe by drummie, very early in there career, and drummie had a good voice as displayed on don't turn around, and on and on with sweetie irie, but drummie wasn't a roots singer,Brinsley likes to talk like he is so conscious 😀 which is so far from the truth,he left Aswad years ago,and left tony and drummie to be Aswad, which was never the same, and those two never really forgave him,Brinsley so righteous black man finding his roots in POLAND 😆 🤣 Brinsley was never in the end's Ladbroke Grove once Aswad got big,but tony and drummie never ever left there roots, and stayed local right till drummie died last Yr,I know all of them personally, and I shall leave this one drummie zeb was one of the greatest drummers of all time, remember he gave jazwad his 1st ever drum.
Don't turn around finished the real aswad....seen aswad over 10 times over 35 years....saw them at Leeds in early 80s..I was 15...blew me away..I met them at Manchester before the concert practising...and after backstage..all very nice and grounded...the fall out was awful...they just lost there way..and seeing aswad minus brinsley and the horn section was so disappointing...
Lie,his mother never say it like that.
Glad to hear from the legend!
Loved aswad..
But steel pulse are different gravy..ive seen both live over 10 times..over 30 years...
