- We gave patrons the chance to vote on what Holiday movie we would review and they picked the holiday classic National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. In this movie review/podcast we will talk about all the classic moments in the 3rd entry of the Vacation franchise. Like Clark's super fast sled, The ongoing struggle to get the Christmas lights to work, and literally anything Cousin Eddie says or does.
As the holidays approach, Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) wants to have a perfect family Christmas, so he pesters his wife, Ellen (Beverly D'Angelo), and children, as he tries to make sure everything is in line, including the tree and house decorations. However, things go awry quickly. His hick cousin, Eddie (Randy Quaid), and his family show up unplanned and start living in their camper on the Griswold property. Even worse, Clark's employers renege on the holiday bonus he needs.

DUDE!!!!! That's so freaking awesome that y'all put a spotlight on my Dark Knight Rises autographed DVD! I'm so glad that y'all got it and that it's part of the set! Y'all made my Christmas season!!! My name is Adam btw ☺️
Rare you see someone as famous as Tony in the comments. Very cool!
Hi there!
Even Alex Jones is here! DARK KNIGHT is making frogs gay!
I was reading this comment as that part of the video happened. Weird
@@jpstudios-11 ]0p
I feel like tony is going to be the main character in a Christmas movie where he learns a valuable lesson in the end.
I love how Tony made the mistake but just committed to "William H Macy" for the remainder of the review. 👌
When he first said it, I was like "huh?"
This and Planes, Trains, & Automobiles are the definitive holiday films!
And the home alones, John Hughes Christmas quadrilogy
@m True.
@@snusemcgoose1001 Well only the first two are good
@@biguy617 You misread my comment I didn’t mean 4 home alones
I like Chevy Chase's other underrated Christmas movie "Funny Farm"
Eddie, If I woke up tomorrow with my head glued to the carpet, I wouldn't be more surprised than I am right now
"Sown to the carpet". Sorry, I'm a super fan too
you are correct
@@jeremygoyette7426 It's SEWN!!!!!!
I still love this movie. The squirrel in the tree scene, the model in the department store, the fast sled, and the yuppies were my favorite parts.
Its a classic
Agreed!
Yes! So funny!
50:08 Johanna's face during Crystal's story about her kneecaps is hilarious.
Hearing them talk about how many episodes it’s been makes me realize how long I’ve been watching this show. Good job Tony, loving the content as always.
Tony reminds me so much of my buddy and I. If only we would have just stuck with it, maybe we could be famous like the SUPER FAMOUS Tony is!
After my dad passed we were absolutely broke. My mum couldn’t afford much for presents but she did her best. I’ll always be so incredibly grateful to the people who donated gifts to me and in so doing taking a weight off of my mums shoulders that I didn’t understand yet. I still remember the beautiful bunch of art supplies I got one year. They weren’t fancy or anything, but knowing someone cared enough to buy them for me still sticks to my heart. I feel so lucky to be able to do the same for kids in need now.
Tony cured his sciatica with all that back-patting. But seriously, congrats on the growth. Glad to watch your reviews
I absolutely love when Crystal shows her knowledge of things. I’m so used to her responding to Tony and Newt but when she leads it’s so powerful.
Oh this comment makes me so happy! Thank you so much for saying that!
Yes ma’am! Keep that trivia and presence coming!
This past week I've started listening to the podcast version while I'm at work from episode 1 instead of listening to music. Made my week better even if I had all ready watched them.
I like how Tony just put the christmas tree right on top of the corpses of the spidermen. Thats pretty dark man.
Slight correction- The dream team is: The Entire Hack The Movies Crew. Including several special guest stars such as Mint, Mike, Star Trek Fan not Mike, and as always Caped Theme Song Guy. Merry Christmas to those weirdos who insist on saying it that way and Happy Holidays everyone.
" I didn't find out Santa was fake until the 5th or 6th grade " Wow, that might be a world record .
The easter bunny is also fake if you didn't know yet
I saw this movie last week, and it still cracks me up. My favorite part was when “William H Macy” lights a cigar near the tree and burns the whole tree. 🤣 and he didn’t even realize he also was on fire 😂
In regards to the Santa thing, I felt like my family did it well. Gifts from Santa primarily were about not giving credit to any one person, ensuring the kids were happy, and the funding came from everyone pooling their money into a single budget that was split equally among the kids of the family to make sure everyone got a good amount of presents for Christmas and no adult was left to feel bad about their specific financial situation.
The adults ended up doing a white elephant gift exchange with a small budget instead of everyone exchanging a ton of gifts with the extended family.
It worked well for us and made for very memorable holidays.
subscribed for newt, can't wait to see him in future episodes.
Eww
Have the mint salad 🥗 girl on again. The one in the tube top that didnt watch the movie. I like that one. She is talented! Not being sarcastic either, she was funny and kept me watching.
Creep
@@theredscum4202mint salad mmmmmmm. Oh hell yeah! ❤
This is now my favorite episode of HTM. Y’all work so well of of each other. Tony drinking Jack and coke Crystal and Johanna are so great together.
Muppet Christmas Carol is my favorite version of that classic tale!
Scrooged & the CGI Christmas Carol, with Jim Carrey are the best.
@@trekadam30 Agreed, the animated Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey is underrated
What's really funny about the sled scene is that the first time I saw this as a kid I had no idea what a Walmart was. Hard to believe there was a time before there was a Walmart within 10 minutes of anywhere.
Hallelujah, holy sh*t!
Where's the Tylenol?
The house is on WB Backlot and has an interior street view to tour. Also the Lethal Weapon house and while we're Wandavisioning it the bewitched house they used for Agatha's house and is the house in the home movies in this. Also the pool is across the street from the house. John Randolph was also Roseanne's dad lol.
Justin is the kid growing up that was at everyone's birthday partys but no one really wanted him there.
I don't care if I'm the only person watching these please continue to make them forever
Zero people
I always thought that this movie was the inspiration for the first episode of The Simpsons. The Christmas bonus problem, the whole annoying family, the crappy Christmas tree, failing to do Christmas lights, and later on, Mr. Burns forgetting Homer's name. And they both came out in 1989.
Hearing Crystal proclaim that the Muppet’s Christmas Carol is the greatest Christmas movie ever is why she deserves all the happiness in the world. And Johanna is as amazing as ever. And Tony is cool as ever lol
Like Darkseid, TONY IS.
Hard to believe 2 of the greatest Christmas comedies of all time were made in back to back years by the same person. I wonder if we will ever get another all time Christmas classic. It feels like there has been nothing since Elf and Bad Santa in 2003.
I agree, only Deck the Halls and The Night Before come to mind.
This was the first Vacation movie I saw growing up. Clark invites the entire family over for Christmas but things don't go according to plan and they end up more hilarious hijinks.
Yes, thats the film
Thanks, I thought this was the one where he is left home alone and he has to defend his house from bandits, I was very confused
I just love watching Tony barely being able to tolerate johanna and crystal going off on their random side conversations. Lol.
Johanna is the type that has Nightmare Before Christmas tattoos and thinks it's unique. Can we get Newt back please?
no
Ha, you got them.
You guys are awesome, If I saw any of you in public I would say thanks for the entertainment and knowledge. Now Have Good Day.
Hey, famous Tony from Hack The Movies. Love the channel & vids. Never seen this movie. But I bet the review will be phenomenal. Happy that Johanna & Crystal are back with u in a review. Could u heart & pin my comment? Would really finish the crummy Monday I'm having off right. I live in a cila for adults with disabilities. I have bipolar/autism. I really wanted to see my mom in the city for Christmas, but her house wouldn't allow it. We tried to find an affordable hotel or motel near her, but to no avail. But she was able to get her housemate to drive her to see me. He is available only 2 days this month. So at least I'll still be able to see her. Plus having my favorite RUclips movie reviewer heart my comment would make me a little happier today. I always talk to my mom about ur channel & the funny things u do & say.
I miss Newt... Please don't make him suffer for too long and hope he will be back after this cancel culture dies off. He's a good dude.
What happened?
Didn't he get caught plagiarizing?
@@joshmuecke85 you mean rewriting the saved AVGN material he was given. thats the part they didnt want released so had a patsy.
@@franklinrichards6559 He was caught plagiarizing all his AVGN episodes. He took material straight from other reviewers which is illegal. He got fired from the company which also owns Hack the Movies.
@@Crystalquin Damn so the op's "cancel culture" comment is a load of crap. It's not cancel culture to fire someone for literally stealing material.
I sure don't harbour any ill will against the guy but that's not on.
I remember one of my all time favourite video game themes was actually plagiarised. Obviously that theme was never used again.
Johanna and Crystal should start their own podcast
I agree
More Johanna, More Crystal,More Trish, More Kira, More Salad.
Your brother in law is a legend for that! 🤣 I’m def. doing that next Thanksgiving. I wanna see how long I can go before my dad smacks the Hell outta of the back of my head, it’ll be worth it. 🤣👏🤣👏🤣
I remember catching onto Santa when I asked my mom why did Santa wrap his presents in the same wrapping paper as some of the gifts not from Santa? 😆
The nuclear power plant kicking in the emergency override is my favorite part
It's almost HACK THE VACATION. Tony puts lights all over the store, Johanna gets the squirrel out of the tree, Crystal cooks the turkey, and Kieran emptied the store fluids into the sewer before Santa Justin comes.
Love these comments
@@theitfactorjameswheezer2852 thanks.
My family has never bought a real Christmas tree, because one time when my mom was a little kid her tree (real one) with candles on it actually almost burned her house down while she was asleep, that and my dad can't stand the smell of pine (no idea why). I'm in my mid 30's & I love Christmas, also Christmas Vacation is one of my favorite Christmas movie's of all time. I recommend the movie "The man who invented Christmas" this holiday season, now streaming on Canadian Netflix
This and Scrooged were always my favorite Christmas films growing up.
You should do the original my bloody valentine along with the remake-so you can compare the two. They are very similar movies, but different. That would be awesome!
“Every time Catherine revved up the microwave, I’d piss my pants and forget who I was for about half an hour or so.”

You guys are awesome keep it up!
Iv watched this movie every Christmas eve for as long as I can remember
Love you guys, I wanted to come up with something funnier but I can't, but you guys make my day better.
You guys have gotten me through many long work shifts
Christmas Vacation is a classic. Movie will outlive the human race 😂. Merry Christmas,Happy Holidays to everyone at Hack the Movies. Keep up the awesome content!
You guys were really good on this episode. Hats off to both Crystal and Johanna, and Tony you weren't that bad too. Nice banter between all of you & Crystal really researched her stuff. Way to go gang! Happy Holidays! PS: Tony get some rest!
I figured out about Santa at 5 and just asked my mother “he’s not real, is he, or the bunny and the fairy?”
WE WANT NEWT! WE WANT NEWT! WE WANT NEWT!
They made it clear that they don't want note since his plagiarism incident.
Its crazy I listen to these in between waiting on new episodes of the cinemassacre podcast and talk about games. Never realized I wasnt subscribed. Thats now fixed! Happy holidays!
Tony met Gianna Michaels? Lucky lol
I watch this every Christmas
This has been the ONLY Xmas tradition movie in my house that’s still in rotation.
You're welcome!🙂 Hope this channel keeps growing and hopefully we'll get to see more Crystal in 2022😉😍
I completely forgot Walmart used to have that hyphenated logo. Wal-mart. When was it changed? Lol
I love this show. Merry easter bruh
This is one of my favorite movies, thanks for reviewing it guys
Pectus Excavatum repair surgery is an awfully fancy name for a fight club. Who knew Jessica was Edward Norton all along?
The saddest thing this year is Newts departure ;( his stories and ratings were the reason I started to watch this show
he's why I QUIT watching the show. After watching his self righteous rant against Hook, and Tony's limp tirade against Ghostbusters Afterlife for not being funny, even though it's not a comedy.....I've lost a lot of interest. But Crystal was in this one, so I had to watch.
What's the deal with Newt?
No longer on the channel.
He's currently the head mascot for Megan's Law
He got booted, now they just make thinly veiled, bitter sounding jokes about it.
@@JohnClark-tt2bl Why did they boot him?
@@afterthought55 for rewriting AVGN material as asked. little did newt know they had gathered other peoples work for him to rewrite.
A lot of people don't even know Christmas Vacation is a sequel! Most of my friends and and family just think it's a standalome Christmas movie.
Literally saw this movie just two weeks ago. Easily one of the timeless classics, along with Home Alone, The Ref, The Muppet Christmas Carol, White Christmas, and of course the TWO GREATEST Christmas movies of ALL TIME...Die Hard and Lethal Weapon!
Those are all classics that i grew up with but Jingle all the way has been entering classic territory for me too
First Blood takes place during the Chrustmas season, too.
Dennis Quaid Is Onthe American Underdog
Animal House is probably the best or tied for the best of the National Lampoon's movies. The original Vacation was truly amazing.
-Homonym the Movies- @ 11:26 "...I actually wanna do more poles in the future." - Tony, a very famous person
I LOVE Muppet Christmas Carol too
Is that Turbo Man the multilingual version
Excellent episode, thanks Tony
Oh, I forgot tell Crystal & Johanna I appreciate their input they give when they do a review with, especially trying to keep u in line & u talking over them or interrupting them. Don't worry, all love here. Don't forget to telll Jessica she does a great job editing & putting up with u, Tony. Don't worry, still all love from me.
What ever happened to Newt?
"lockdown lifted"
laughs in Australian
I went through a break up too so watching you guys over the months having a good time and laugh made me have a good time and laugh 💪🏾 keep up the good work
Shitter's full!!
We love you guys! -the fans 🦥
Please do the rest of the series !
Crystal is so cute and pretty!!!
Thanks!
That was a very Christmas thing to say about Justin Silverman at 1:10:00. Merry Christmas Justin!
Wow, Tony from Hack The Movies and the Dark Knight Rises, also met Gianna Michaels? HOLY COW
Damn Crystal all these people tying the knot - I think we're overdue xD.
If you like "Wet Hot American Summer", watch, "They Came Together"... another David Wain movie, perfect for Valen-times
They're both great
National lampoon possible favorite... loaded weapon 1...
Crystal is too annoying. Couldnt make it to the end.
Sucks for you because the ending it great.
Yes! More Krystal episodes!
Deleted scene shows why they dug up their own tree.
This review took so long to get started that i forgot what movie was being reviewed. Not a complaint.
Mrs. Shirley has the probably the most expensive and impressive Fur Coat of 1988 i bet..They don t make em like that no more..
I can't wait for the Crystal and Johanna spin off show Hacking it Up W/Crystal and Johanna
There's another Soul Man as wel...the shortlived sitcom with Dan Aykroyd.
True Romance for Valentine's day!
Hack the Movies is the only thing we have similar to Rental Reviews now.
Crystal is a fuggn smoke show my friend and was especially radiate today🤩🤩 Nice job all around though!
Thanks!!
@@Crystalquin NP at all! As a lover of all things beautiful I must say you are in fact stunning! Makeup. Lips. Smile. Hair. Personality. I'm no window licker or anything just needed to say it if it hasn't been said :-)
Chevy chase actually broke his toe not his finger. And that’s the wrong William, Tony. Regardless glad to see Tony kicking for his 67th Christmas
Our family still have those Home Alone (1990) and Christmas Vacation VHS tapes.
Pectus Excavatum? That sounds painful. Also Crystal flirts funny with Johanna with the knee issue. Bi problems, amiright? My wife and other friends have the same issues.
I love this movie Crystal in Joanna both of you look wonderful Merry Christmas Tony
I am glad I am not the only one who enjoys Vegas Vacation. It also came out in 1997 which is one of my very best years ever. So very nostalgia too.
Wait - did you talk about the dog puking under the table? The dinner is my favorite scene!
Took me years before I realized that gag with the dog food and Eddie places another bag and smashes the light bulbs! Lol
I also met Brian Dolyle Murray and I told him how much my family loves Christmas Vacation. Little did I realize at that time he was also in the original Vacation movie. He was really nice!
