Hello Wayne. What great pictures. I was looking today because of exactly this combination. XH2s with the 150-600. Then your channel was suggested to me. Now I've looked at a lot and I really like what you do with the Fuji system in wildlife photography. The system performs better as some full format photographers say. Thank you for your beautiful reports and pictures. greetings from Germany
Amazing video. Great examples as well. I am also planning to get this combo since I am using an X-S10 & XF70-300mm and it started to feel like it is not enough for my needs, but I was not sure between X-H2 and X-H2s but I think I am leaning towards X-H2s for it's supposedly better autofocus.
Hi Wayne, I use the XH2s to photograph college soccer. The main selling point for me was the electronic shutter. I shoot all my soccer photos with the electronic shutter and it's worked wonderfully in all types of lighting conditions. Games typically start when the sun is shining progressing through sunset and then the sun goes down and I'm shooting with stadium lights.
Hi Wayne, Enjoying your videos very much, especially interested in this X-H2s + 150-600mm (1.4x) combination for birds and birds in flight. I can see that you have had good success and very nice bird photos. Like several of your subscribers, having watched RUclips videos about this combination they seem not to be very positive reviews regarding CF - bird eye detection for electronic shutter. I tend to use exposure compensation which is easy to setup and use with my current Sony A9 + 200-600mm system (that will be gone by next week) , looking X-H2s +150-600mm to replace it. Hoping to get some weight saving too for hand holding. What I’m noting from other videos is trying to assign exposure comp to a dial when using fully manual setup is impossible, has this been your experience? Interested to know as you’ve had the setup for a while now, have you decided on a customised setup for birds and birds in flight? Will you producing a video showing your current settings for birds on the X-H2s? Having used the kit for a while now, would you buy the same kit again for birds photography? I’m not too bothered about the f8 or f11 with 1.4x, living in spain poor lighting isn’t usually an issue for me, however that said would be interested to know if you’ve used the setup at sunrise/sunset and your experiences with the combination in that situation or any subscribers experience with the above conditions. Once again thanks very much for making such professional, detailed and informative videos, keep up the great work. Look forward to more X-H2s and 150-600mm videos.
Now that is finally starting to cool down here in the South (still hot in the afternoon) of the USA I’m going to try to get up early and do wildlife with my X-S20 & 150-600. I got some decent Eagle pictures with my X-S10 awhile back but couldn’t get as close as I’d like so I had to crop.
Hi Wayne thanks for the video, electronic shutter works fantastic I don't use mechanical at all for wildlife on the X-H2s as the rolling shutter on stills at least is amazing👍
Hi Anthony and thanks for watching and your comment. In the testing I’ve managed to do so far I’ve not encountered any issues either so it’s good to hear you’ve found the same! 👍🏻
I enjoyed this video and have the same set up but also use an XH2 with that lens often with a 1.4 extender if the birds are going to be further away. I find the 1.4 x does not degrade to ability of the camera to focus or the quality of the sharpness but you do have to contend with the smaller aperture which drops to F11. Unfortunately our gannet colony here has been closed to the public due to landslides during cyclone at the beginning of the year but I do enjoy photographing them. When I am out photographing wildlife since having this setup I use this lens almost exclusively.
Thanks Chris I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the video! Sorry to hear about your colony being closed though; I do hope something can be done about that. I used the 1.4 TC a lot when I had the XF 100-400mm and I liked it so it's good to hear that it works so well on this lens with the XH2/S cameras. TC aside how do you find the image quality in general between the XH2S and XH2?
@@WayneRobertsonPhotography If I am shooting birds on a perch at quite a distance the XH2 is better and you can crop more heavily. I also consider I get a bit more detail depending on the bird. With birds in flight something like a gannet would give good results on an XH2 but faster birds like kingfishers or swallows not so good and in fact I did get a photo with roller shutter of a swallow in flight on the XH2. The XH2 requires better light for focusing than the XH2s but I usually will pump up the ISO to improve it. I actually believe there is not much difference in noise and it is easily dealt with in post. I will use DXO photlab 6 or Topaz denoise if the noise level is bad but usually lightrooms new denoise is usually enough.
Hi Wayne. Thanks for the video. Lovely video and music and still shots. I use xf 100-400mm. I could not help but observe that the 150-600mm shots / videos are darker generally… in your video and then other videos on RUclips. I am guessing that’s because of the f-stop limitations on this long lens. Especially when I see the video in which you are talking compared to the bird videos you took using the 150-600mm. What’s your thoughts on this? Thnx!!
Hi and thanks for watching. Regarding any photos and video within my video, any perceived changes in brightness are definitely nothing to do with the lens. I had plenty scope on location with camera settings, or later within editing, to change overall exposure by a large amount. Anything you are seeing in this video is mainly because of significant changes on location regarding weather and light levels, and a small part will be due to my editing style. Definitely nothing to do with lens or camera, mainly the changing light. Hope that helps!
Hi Wayne. Enjoyed your video. I’m a canon shooter and thinking of switching to Fuji. What intrigues me most if the Fuji color pallet. The colors in your photos and videos seems to represent this well. Can you comment on your post-shoot work flow? Are your colors custom, or are you using one of the Fuji film recipes?
Hi Scott, thanks for watching and I am glad you enjoyed it! I do my own colour grading for the video and for my photos again I do my own work regarding colour, I don't use any of the recipes. That said I guess I am starting from a slightly different place had I used a different make of camera to record the video or capture the photographs.
Thanks for the video. Very nice fuji setup. I have the xt4 and the 100-400 with 1.4tc. I'll probably get the 150-600 but it's been a tough decision given my current setup. Do you think the 150-600 is worth going to from the 100-400 with 1.4tc? I'll probably wait for the next XH2S camera before changing body. Thanks, looking forward to seeing you working with your setup going forward. All the best!
Thanks for watching! If you haven’t seen them already I have a few videos on my channel about the XF 150-600mm lens which may help and they touch on your questions. I wouldn’t feel comfortable influencing you regarding your own money but I do think the XF 150-600mm is overall the better lens if you find yourself using the 1.4 TC a lot on the 100-400. That said I think both lenses have their place and I’ve captured photos I love with both. Good luck!
@@WayneRobertsonPhotography I've heard a lot of similar feedback to yours as well as reviews on the lens. I use the TC a lot for wildlife in SA. The 150-600 has some other features I'm keen on ... so I'm happy it'll do me well out in the bushveld. Thanks!
I've watched videos saying that xh2s' object tracking sucks. What does your experience say about this? Did the software updates work? I'm thinking of buying the camera. but this is bothering me
I can only answer from the perspective of someone who has just recently purchased the camera. When making this video and the other times I’ve used it since it has worked just fine for me, I’ve been very happy with it.
You need to keep in mind the following advice from Fuji themself: use mechanical shutter for moving objects otherwise AF is not working properly. With this one would have 15fps only !!
@Gaming_Let_s_Play: H2S sales argument is SPEED and with this the limitation to 15 is ridiculous. Not mentioning the AF / tracking issues still not working reliable.
Hi! Really nice shots!
I'm looking to get the same setup as you. Have you had any issues with autofocus after recent firmware updates?
Amazing images! That shot at 09:07 is such a beauty!
Very enjoyable Wayne. I have an XH2-S but have never really attempted wildlife photography. You have me thinking….. 😊
Wow. Your images are fantastic. I've got the same kit. I just found your channel. I'm a new subsciber. Can't wait to see what you do next.
That’s nice of you to say! Thanks very much and I appreciate you subscribing 👍🏻

Thank you! I've not tried the X-H2 but I believe it's a great camera as well, I went with the S specifically for wildlife photography.

Good to hear Daren. I've never photographed soccer matches but I can imagine that presents some challenges too!
