More sportsmanship and respect for each other’s art of throwing a stick with a bit of metal on the end then other sports sports that the players get payed millions a year and can’t even respect some of the fans. This crowd was full of fun and they really got behind each player & cheered them on. I think now is the time to add a new sports to my like list. Full of skill & great skill. I hit on this video by mistake, but loved every minute
They make hitting the bullseye look like it should happen on every attempt. I was humbled to see a 'champion' axe thrower not miss but the axe didn't stick not once but twice. That has to be major embarrassing for a participant. Especcally in the first and probably only time this event will ever be televised.
I went to an age throwing venue and didn't last 30 min. Those things are heavy, but then I'm 70 too. But I managed to stick that axe 7 times. Never threw before, but I studied the youtube videos
It is optional. In a discussion about kill shot courtesy on the FB WATL page, it is mentioned how Dave went up (what we call going for the killshot) when he didn't have to. Dave commented on it by saying, and I'm paraphrasing here since it was a while back, "No, I just don't know how to count." He thought he needed the killshot to win. Many times before the game starts, the players will agree on whether or not kills are mandatory, no matter what the score is. And today, the skill level is so much higher that even though the killshot is smaller (was 3" like in the video, but now only 1.5"), the elite throwers will purposely take the chance of losing a game they can easily win if they went for the bullseye. Some of these guys are still hitting that smaller target over 80% of the time. The current world champion, Dylan Teets, just finished a league in which he went 49/56 (88%) for killshot attempts on the 1.5" target. The skill level has gotten so much better, that I think there are about 200 people now who could have beaten 2018 Cycon and Edgington without too much of a problem, including me and definitely today's version of both of them.
Since the winners axe fell completely out of bored and didn't stick I don't see how he caught up by the kill shot I thought that was a bad match the guy seemed to be better first time I've ever watched it though
I'M the best axe thrower anywhere and everywhere 'till somebody sticks a better score. I think what you actually are frustrated with is the closed ''WATL'' circuit. This is amateur PUB ''sport'' being commercialised. The ''WATL'' throwers would not stand a chance vs a competent [For Example] Russian competitive sport axe Thrower

It looked like some of the throws weren’t 6s but the Judge called them a 6. Am I right or wrong?

@@claythomas7982 Hope you're still doing well Clay!
I'm pretty sure cycon totally contradicted what he said lol
Why Dave didn't just throw for the bull's eye in the end? (isn't it optional?)

The dude was totally stupid to not throw at the bully=seye at the end,,, COME ON MAN!!!
Cycon has admitted that he made a mistake in the math for what he needed. It was the early days. Easier to make simple mistakes.
