WATL rocks!!! They are the founding father's of axe throwing and have influenced us so much. Our channel follows an axe throwing league for beginners through their first tournament. It may not be WATL pros, but it's a heck of a lot of fun.
Dave Franklin Hahahaha. That’s me! The crack smoker! 🤗😂 My original comment implies I could handle one intruder with an axe. You’re arguing multiple people coming at me with guns. Yes. In THAT case, my axes would be useful for one or two, perhaps. Then I would be using my .22 and my .45. I also have four guard dogs, an alarm system, and security locks and doors. I’m gonna have time to get my shit together before four people are coming at me.
Dave Franklin nooooooo. Really?!?! I thought you were implying I REALLY smoked crack. 🤔 Lol!!!! I know what it means.........and thanks for the life lessons! I’m very aware of what usually happens with home invasion. I live in a town where it’s happening constantly. I pay attention. Hence the dogs, security, and multiple defense items. 😊 All we can do is pray it never happens to us, right?
Threw my first axes yesterday, it takes finesse and muscle memory as was said. So satisfying tho. to land the head in wood. Btw I managed 5 landings in a row. Now my right arm is aching
What I don't like about standard comp... The known distance. I think it would be better to bounce a raquette ball off the wall. Where The competitor catches it... Is where he throws from...
Except that doesn't always work. The axe has to be able to finish a half, or full rotation. Moving back or forward 6" can make a difference between a perfect throw, and your axe lying on the floor

Only certain of those I think you mean are the ones that are badly designed such that they look daft. A decent one that's made well and hangs right when worn right [and is your correct length] doesn't come cheap but they do exist and certainly the reaction I've had wearing a heavy leather well designed one, from Scots women who've expressed an opinion, hasn't been being laughed at. I've certainly ended up wearing lipstick, where it's supposed to go on a man, as a result of such opinion being demonstrated though. I've never been laughed at by any Scots man either, but then, they would likely have extrapolated the potential perks. Greetings, from Scotland. Does anyone know if there are specific regulations for what type of hatchet you can throw? Weight? Length? Etc? Where is a good source to purchase such a hatchet?
I'm a trainer at a local axe throwing bar I hated this video until he said the right way to throw an axe is the way that's most comfortable to you. Then was like preach brotha.
Estwing axes are a bit on the heavier side being all metal. But they throw well and take a insane beating.. after a while the handle gets sketchy but nothing some tape can't handle.
I’m using Whetstone. I’ve been throwing full-size axes my whole life but the Tomahawk thing is very new to me. Whetstone is cheap and if I keep doing this I may move up to something more expensive .
i work at an axe throwing place, we use a variety of axes there, but my personal favorite is the estwing full metal one. pretty cheap as well, about 40 bucks at my local lowes
Yes, but lot of throwers like the all steel Estwing style hand axe, for its durability. See how much vibration goes through that handle when they stick? It can be really rough on a wood haft. Edit: The clubs like the all steel axe too (for durability), and because that's how alot of people learn, it is what they stick with.
@@joejoelesh1197 I ask because I prefer the hawk , I have been throwing one for years even made a custom one for my grandson that is light enough for a 10 year old to use .

Dude imagine robbing one of these dudes houses and an axe appears in your Chest.
MAK FILMS Exactly. Any intruder in my home isn’t gonna get far. You won’t know what happened till you wake up in the hospital. Who needs guns? 🤷🏻♀️
Dave Franklin Only if she knows how to use it...just like I know how to use an axe.

Speak-Easy 'Conversations' Nightwolf wins
First ax throw @3:30
Very smart lighting in there. It’s not harsh, it’s not going to hurt your eyes. I wish more ax places had better more defused lighting like this.
Absolutely love throwing axes. Great sport!!
Threw my first axes yesterday, it takes finesse and muscle memory as was said.

Now my right arm is aching
Admit it's great fun!
If your arm is aching you’re doing it wrong. It doesn’t take that much power to get it to stick.
I wish more axe places had smart more defused lighting like this. It doesn’t hurt your eyes like bright overhead lighting does.
Not once was the announcement correct on announcing the leader at the end of the round...
Wow, we’ve come a long way from giant targets and yeeting eastwings super hard lol
It would be nice if they would tell what kind of axe each person is throwing.

@@elliottselman6746 thank you for clearing that up.
What are restrictions on axe ,head size ,weigh ,handle length?
There's always a guy in a kilt at these sorts of things...
Paintball, LARPing, RenFests, usually the social outcast crowd dons them. Those utility kilts are laughed at by Scots, trust me.
Let’s the scotts laugh, are we caring about their opinion on this?

What is the best wood to use to build an axe Target
The best wood for targets is Poplar
How far is it from the throwing line to the target?
12 feet
I've just joined the league, and I'm looking forward to it!!
Is there a reason a lot of them seem synchronized? Are there extra points for speed?
Back in the day they'd count down and throw together. Wasn't required but it was polite I think
how can I start one here in central oregon
I don't understand why they are so close?

I skipped to 12:50 staight away hahhhahahaaha "anybody can shake hands but only axe throwers can tap axes"
What are good quality throwing axes or tomahawks? Anyone could suggest anything based on a personal experience?
Demetri Parker Only been throwing for a short time but the plumb half-hatchet is my favorite. Quite inexpensive as well.

Seriously, competitive hatchet throwing. Who knew.
Dude, it's so fun. Being in a local league for a couple years now.
This looks easy

Hipsters fucking wreck everything.
Longest intro ive ever seen
3... 2... 1.... Gooo
Threw a 43 In my first game ever last night. 6 bullseyes 😅
These guys throw axes more accurately than I can throw a baseball.
It's actually easier
It's four to 6 steps away. Not really a challenge.
Frank castles cost less stone to build
So weird watching the two handed throws, and the step forward. Obviously like the guy says, whatever you're comfortable with. Just looks odd to me🤷♂️

Why don't they call it hatchet throwing? Those are little hatchets. A real axe is full sized.
Yup!!!

an instrument with a bladed head on a handle or helve, used for hewing, cleaving, chopping, etc.
Those are Hatchets...not Axes!
no bra they're tomahawks
True that. Thx for the correction.

Ok this is officially the whitest sport of all time
You are forgetting curling , ice hockey, swimming or any of the highland games.
Lol
bad axe throwers!
What a terrible way to edit a video
Throwing at the same time is stupid. Should be more like dart type game styles. This is most boring shit ever 😂😂
