Yo man, you are a great builder/teacher and I hope you have some time to get out a couple more videos. But you gotta do what you gotta do. Hope nothing bad happens to you. Best of luck to you
This was a greatly detailed video. I recently switched from using your mini-fort to using the Thrifty Scott for my first day bandit camp farming base. These tweaks will make things just that little bit tougher. In other news, I have plans to use a modified and multiplied version of your Dolphin base to run a boat shop on the server I moderate. I have tentatively named it "The Pod". I will try to get some screens and maybe even video for you.
NO WAY! I have been playing rust for over a year, and about 2 months ago I came across this base, I saw it was offline, and I decided to build some twig and soft side one of the walls on the shooting floor, because he forgot to place a window shutter. While soft siding I constantly thought of how stupid this guy was to leave his shooting floor wood, have parts of the base seemingly randomly upgraded to stone and metal. after doing that I grabbed some satchels and broke the top door, and then although I knew there could have been a shotgun trap, I just jumped down thinking there's no way this noob would have thought of placing one... well he did, after blowing thought the door I was killed by the shotgun traps and could not get my stuff back. This base is fantastic at disguising how expensive and difficult it is to raid. Great vid!

I’ve been unable to this, until now. Thank you evil, truly an outstanding base that any newbie can use. Best, LivingDegree
Made this base on a solo-only server, only with a few changes: honeycombed the main loot walls, upgraded inner walls to metal/HQM, outer walls all to stone, replaced top doors with metal ones and added a few shotgun traps there too. Had a pretty great wipe, haven't been successfully raided.

Found a way to save a little upkeep. Instead of having a ramp up and a tc honeycomb, you can relocate the ramp and have it serve as both. This also allows the airlock to be slightly better as it's now team push proof.

I love this base. It's extremely cheap to build and to upkeep, and has room for upgrades. Building your own take of this is very easy to do, and you can expand it. I upgrade the whole second floor to stone, which only makes the upkeep in total around 1k stone. Very awesome design, Evil... I had already modified the Thrifty Scot with a second floor, but you added elements of the Mini Fort 2 starter as well. I'm definitely impressed with the door security you conceived. Hoping for your swift return to your stellar builds. Godspeed and safe journeys!!

Lmao just started playing rust. Built only a couple of 2x2's at first and then saw your videos and decided to give it a try even though it seemed very intricate. I've built it three times now and am starting to get a feel for the game and this base has kept me relatively safe, EXCEPT for when I scavenged a VERY lazy raid on a large clam base one grid away from me. I window that loot room and lock all the boxes too. You have to be very specific with the TC placement to be able to get it through both windows but imo its worth it
If you have already upgraded the loot room walls to metal you can still place the boxes and barbecues, you have to freehand the middle barbecue and then place the 2 boxes next to it. It is easy to do if you have a teammate who can remove the large box after you lined it up, then you can move just a tiny bit to the side your box was on and place it, then place the other large boxes.
Thanks for the video the Thrifty scot was my go to base after i found your channel during my first 30 hours of rust. Its nice to see the trusted old friend being updated. Which has worked out as my current clan disbanded and i was in the market for a new solo base. Agian great job and best of luck to you and your future endeavours .
Maybe a silly question, but I just built this awesome base on console Rust. I'm having issues accessing the TC, because the double doors swing in front of it. My current work around is to skip out on that 2nd level of storage, which isn't ideal. Anyone else run into this issue? Did you find a solve?
was playing around with small under the radar casual base footprints trying to find one that comfortably fits roof access and minicopter, this is perfect for the *surprise* people get when they try to yoink my mini
This is my favorite build video yet that you have done. Ending on a high note. I hope all goes smoothly for you in the days ahead. You are a very valued member of our community & you are greatly appreciated. Need Merch. I really want a door with your logo.
Pros and Cons about this base : Pros : Cost effective, Trio starter, 7+ Large box loot room, Drop-down Shute with shotgun traps, Shooting floor, able to fit a locker and more. Cons : People can easily build twig floors on your base and shoot in from a hard angle (This is something I've noticed a lot, and really makes it difficult to have this base), The loot room doesn't contain of just large boxes, it has instead got 4 large boxes, 8 small boxes and 2 barbecues. (This might not be bad for other players, but I find it more annoying having to go through all the little containers). Overall a good base ❤️
Beautiful job. You explained every step perfectly. The original Thrifty Scot was quite inspirational to my base builds. I like the gradual upgrades to the base over time, particularly the cheap honeycombing of the TC room. I'd rather build 3 of these during a wipe than one big compound.
I have only 500 hours of rust I'm a casual player who sometimes comes to farm a little and loot some barrels just to relax. and for the first time I was able to stay out of the game for 24 hours and stop an offline raid. it may seem ridiculous but I am a very casual player. I left the upstairs with some double wooden doors which must have made the raider greedy. his problems started when he found the shootgun trap. about 200 cartridges were enough for him to give up there and I still haven't finished the electrical part. I strongly advise this design if you play on a solo-only server. this design will surely be able to stop several raids of poorly prepared players. with luck you will be able to make a whole wipe without being completely broken. Thanks EvilWurst for making rust a more enjoyable game for noobs hehehe Congratulations
Used ur base last wipe on a rustafied server (monthly wipes) and since i only wanted to play once a week there to get all important blueprints I never build a main base. Surprisingly it actually was unattractive enough for raiders to last the whole wipe even tho it was between bandit and airfield and I didn't lay low at all with making enemies the few times I played on the server. It truely served it's purpose :)
Alles gute, vielen Dank für deine großartige Arbeit in der Community und die Wertschätzung für alle base-orientierte Spieler in Rust :) Viel Erfolg für deine berufliche Karriere, hoffentlich bis bald!
Translates to "Thank you for the wonderfully designed starter base. We will use the same product after the official wipe" Thank you and greeting to Japan!
I love the Thrifty scot. And it has just gotten better! I would add a few more things like covering the wall of lootroom with stone, because 500 upkeep of stone is very very cheap. I would also add the locker and workbenches inside the honeycombs, as well as furnaces. Once you've obtained the window frame you could substitute all the lower walls with it and, providing you place those aforementioned items inside the honeycomb.
I was thinking about that as well. However, I was worried that with every added foundation, the base becomes are more interesting target. In the end, the Thrifty Scot and the Mini Fort stay often un-raided, because they do not look like worthwhile targets.
This is a very well explained video, thank you for your good work and your advice dude. I really appreciate this kind of video and I also like how you explain the electricity part.
So I got offlined in the Thrifty Scott. They went through the top, down the chute but the undrainable shotgun traps are so good that they ended up blowing the chute wall open to destroy the traps before continuing. It's a nice delay and waste of resources. Ended up working perfectly because they ran out of C4 when they got to the last garage door. They didn't get any loot haha. I'm thinking of adding an armoured door to the bottom. Once they blow open the top chute door, they're already committed so the way I see it they'll continue through, just at a higher cost. I also upgraded the bottom chute wall to sheet metal to make sure they can't easily deal with shotgun traps again. Finally, I upgraded the roof ramp/walls to stone, and added honeycomb to the remaining loot room wall. It doesn't make the base look much more fortified imo, so you're not becoming a bigger target. The wooden top is genius, makes the base look very unassuming. People love building twig around the top windows, it's very popular in that sense. I've added spinners where the bottom and top walls meet, which stops people from building twig and harassing me. Works pretty well. This is 100% my go-to starter base. Look forward to experimenting with it a bit further.
This great little base. 3 of us lasted an entire wipe with this. We added 2 false entry points on the ground floor we stored a large battery in there which powered our lights
Love the design, I have a 'Thrifty Scot' style design that costs 1900 wood, 4500 stone and 3300 metal with 16 rockets to TC from all directions. The only issue with the design compared to this one is that to maintain the 16+ rocket cost it means I can only have 180 degree outside from the inside otherwise it would be 12 rockets closer to the TC if I replaced the upstairs walls with windows. It does come with a spacious helipad made using 2x square 3x triangle though so that's a plus, only an extra 1k wood with low walls all around.
This is my go-to base when I'm solo and the server is real busy. It's quick to build, even at the start. As the wipe progresses, however, I build upon the base to add more rooms, upgrading the whole thing to stone/metal. I use the window frames as expansion for the base, providing me a third floor, with a heli pad/shooting floor and plenty of space to add extra solar panels; even a wind turbine if I want to. It can get a little costly but I've noticed that when I do get raided, it's hard for the raiders to grief the base, as they don't usually go through doors and just rocket out the sides, leaving my upstairs bags safely there. An external TC or two, is good for preventing the griefing too.
Your base build videos are amazing and very detailed. funny thing is i don't own the game. it is one game i never felt comfortable trying on my own but can't stop watching videos on
I've built a lot of bases with wooden shooting floors like that. They get speared out by nakeds far too often, I'd just go full stone. Cool base build!
What is your perception on becoming a more interesting raid target once the shooting floor is upgraded? In theory, it should not matter if the shooting floor gets speared out, as it is not part of the honeycomb
@@EvilWurst Agreed totally with the shooting floor not acting as honeycomb. However I can only speak to my experience with leaving the shooting floors wooden. Typically after getting into a fight, a passing group or doorcampers in general will build up and shoot through the windows during early game, after which if they have revo/db/fire arrow to hold off my advance when trying to push out they will begin spearing out the wall leaving me trapped in my base. I love these style bases, but I found making it stone leaves door campers outside of my door rather than inside my shooting floor. As for making yourself a less interesting target, anyone knows if you leave your shooting floor wood that you are a savvy Rust player anyways, because you've been watching Evil Wurst ;)
Oh and for becoming a more interesting target after the fact, i fill the windows with reinforced glass and add more garage doors inside and use the space for other things
Hey Evil Wurst. Loved it, it was really great to see and to get a fantastic understanding from it. Its certainly going to be on some maps out there and I'm sure that I'll see it out and about. I saw one of your designs on another base which was great to see. Sadly I do understand how it can be then a counter hit. Something that I love is the Leech with the new changes with the auto turrets its made it interesting to see how they are doing for the auto turrets.
That's the thing with all my bases: I design them in mind with the idea that raiders have seen the video. Regarding the Leech, it's true that it requires an upgrade. However, I am on a break from YT and won't be doing this any time soon.
"better" is an ill-defined term. You mean "increase storage". At the same time, the BBQs will increase the complexity of the build, which is a downside in a base geared at newer players

Great to hear that the base worked so well for you!
Maybe a silly question, but I just built this awesome base on console Rust. I'm having issues accessing the TC, because the double doors swing in front of it. My current work around is to skip out on that 2nd level of storage, which isn't ideal. Anyone else run into this issue? Did you find a solve?
My guess is you pick up the door when you need to access the TC, at least until you get the garage door that is.
Yeah, good point. You can turn the door around. Once you get garage doors, this isn’t a problem anymore anyway
@@EvilWurst Thanks! I ended up removing the door and lock when i want to access the TC, which isn't too often.
Doors swing both ways.
Remove it and replace it with doors opening outward instead of inward.
Sorry for being a year late.
was playing around with small under the radar casual base footprints trying to find one that comfortably fits roof access and minicopter, this is perfect for the *surprise* people get when they try to yoink my mini
I don't play this game anymore but I still enjoy watching these videos.
This is definitely my favorite base design. Its extremely efficient and aesthetically pleasing.
Glad you like it!
This is my favorite build video yet that you have done. Ending on a high note. I hope all goes smoothly for you in the days ahead. You are a very valued member of our community & you are greatly appreciated. Need Merch. I really want a door with your logo.
That's great to know! Thank you so much!
A door with my logo would be awesome ... I just don't know who can make that
Pros and Cons about this base :
Pros : Cost effective, Trio starter, 7+ Large box loot room, Drop-down Shute with shotgun traps, Shooting floor, able to fit a locker and more.
Yes, I think this is a fair evaluation of the base
What's this hard angle, can u send a screenshot of it?
Beautiful job. You explained every step perfectly. The original Thrifty Scot was quite inspirational to my base builds. I like the gradual upgrades to the base over time, particularly the cheap honeycombing of the TC room. I'd rather build 3 of these during a wipe than one big compound.
Thank you Steven! Building 3 of these is actually a very cost-efficient strategy! I wish more people considered this approach
Thanks EvilWurst for making rust a more enjoyable game for noobs hehehe
Congratulations
Thank you for sharing your experience with the base, Ren!
Killer work Wurst, you are by far THE best base designer on RUclips
Thank you for the kind words.
That's fantastic to hear!
Alles gute, vielen Dank für deine großartige Arbeit in der Community und die Wertschätzung für alle base-orientierte Spieler in Rust :) Viel Erfolg für deine berufliche Karriere, hoffentlich bis bald!
Besten Dank, Sven!
This guy is awesome. He does amazing, technical videos with actually good designs. This is a service to all Rust players.
Good little tip, keep some metal frags on your repair bench for your tc window, it costs 5 metal frags to repair.
I don't even play Rust anymore, but i never miss your videos.
素晴らしい設計のスターターベースありがとう。
オフィシャルワイプ後に同じ作りの物を活用させて頂きます。
Translates to "Thank you for the wonderfully designed starter base.
We will use the same product after the official wipe"
Thank you and greeting to Japan!
I love your videos❤️
Sometimes I forget you have 50k subs because the quality is so good 😊
You deserve so much more man 💪
I agree he deserves so much more❤️ @me
You just fucking replied to your own comment.
G1zmo The N1zmo didn’t think anyone could get that mad at a joke lul
This is the greatest base tutorial I have ever seen. Thank you so much for walking through the process of upgrading for noobs like me.
Awesome, I am glad that you find the video helpful!
Awesome, as ever. No one compares to you when it comes to explain how to build a base
5 months later this base works like a charm, thanks!
Cheers
This is a very well explained video, thank you for your good work and your advice dude. I really appreciate this kind of video and I also like how you explain the electricity part.
Happy to hear that the slow pace is appreciated
Please more explanations like this. I love this video so much. 10/10
Great, happy you like the thorough explanations!
Thanks for sharing your feedback from the use of the base! Great suggestion to use spinners to prevent people from building twig!
Really awesome starter base, best of luck with the new job, keen on your return!
Thank you!
This great little base. 3 of us lasted an entire wipe with this. We added 2 false entry points on the ground floor we stored a large battery in there which powered our lights
your video is so chill. Even i always make multi tc base, i like to watch your small base video. It provides so much knowledge
Best of luck on the move & new job! Definitely going to be missing your videos.
Thank you!
Good luck with the new job evil wurst and thanks for all you have taught us ( especially me ) this year
My pleasure! Thank you
when you get your setup going again, i would love to see a absolutely massive base desing for modded servers. i wish you luck for the upcoming months!
Aakkuli05 I think rust daddy has a pretty good one
i know. But im thinking even bigger XD
@@can-not-break All of Rust Daddy's Base designs are 50+ Rockets to fully raid it
Love the design, I have a 'Thrifty Scot' style design that costs 1900 wood, 4500 stone and 3300 metal with 16 rockets to TC from all directions.
When it is 2am and I read "Travis Scott 2" Instead of Thrifty Scot. I Should go to sleep
11/10 base man you are great I loved the electricity and also the good explanation for "not so experienced" players
Good to hear that you enjoy the thorough explanation!
Your base build videos are amazing and very detailed. funny thing is i don't own the game. it is one game i never felt comfortable trying on my own but can't stop watching videos on
Glad you enjoy it! Yes, Rust is a very demanding game. However, there are also "easy" servers, that is, servers with low population
@@EvilWurst looking forward to future videos. I ll keep watching and learning and take your advice on which servers to join for new players or low pop
You have the best base building vids. And the music is fantastic! Keep it up!!!
Good luck on your work grind! Hope you don't go through rust withdrawals while your gone!
Haha, thanks, I am worried about that as well
this base just got me back into rust lol, thanks
I am not sure if I should reply "great" or "sorry for that" ;)
@@EvilWurst update, keyboards broken
Evil Wurst that’s cool. I just really appreciate your work. Enjoy your new role.
Oh wow no wonder I was having trouble with the first base video , gonna do this next wipe love your base designs
Hope you enjoy!
To make that loot room better you can use barbecues on the left and right small box, you can still access the large boxes in the back
"better" is an ill-defined term. You mean "increase storage". At the same time, the BBQs will increase the complexity of the build, which is a downside in a base geared at newer players
Just started Rust on console-this base is fantastic and just withheld a 4 man raid team for 4 hours before they gave up. Keep them coming bro gonna try The Leach next wipe 👍
4 people for 4 hours??? That must have been quite a noob team
@@EvilWurst definitely lol - I went shopping, had my second COVID jab and they were still at it when I got back. Console players - we’re all still learning 👍
Such good clear instructions, I watched the video once and had it memorised, so good for early wipe. Thank you.
Great to hear, thank you!
Sooo much info ina such a small a amount of time. Very good sir
Happy to hear the video was useful!!
I really like that you explain every detail

you are a beast my guy! Keep doing what you're doing man! Legend!
thank you Evil! Great Base Design and "Updates" in this one. Nice Video, cu 2020
