Haha I can identify with this so much. I'm 33 years and just got into motorcycles a year ago. Riding my own Interceptor 650 since 3 months now in and around Berlin /Germany. I put 4500km on it since that including a 2600km motorbike tour through the whole of Germany in 12 days together with my girlfriend as a pillion. Seriously this bike did it all for us. Up and down mountains, through forests with gravel roads and all of this fully loaded with side bags, fuel tank bag and a massive bagpack strapped behind my girlfriend. All of this worked perfectly for us. Every time we stopped the 60+ generation came up to us and initiated a conversation which was great. Happy to see more young people with a taste for these modern classics @FreeMilesMC
Had a GT 650 for 3 years. Brilliant bike. Only sold it because I moved to the Philippines. At your age, I was riding a Honda CX500. Similar HP to the Enfield, but shaft drive. Both are wonderful touring bikes.
Huge Congrats!! Welcome to the retro classic club. Prepare to be forever a magnet for every 60+ year old biker in a 20km radius 😝 can't wait for your next trip ✊🏽🏍️💨
Great video, I have same bike and surf too. I do my own servicing and it's proved to be reliable {12000miles). I remember seeing a surf rack on a bike for the first time back in the seventies, always fancied trying it but never did, so it's great to see you succeeding in your latest travel videos. Good to see somebody younger being a bit unconventiona too , I love your honesty and how you are not afraid to show what a pain in the arse travelling in all weather's on a bike can be sometimes, also your surf footage is very much in line with how the surf is here in the UK, keep on keeping on ! 👍
What a coincidence! The Royal Enfield Road Show made a stop near my hometown two days ago, so I had the opportunity to ride both the Continental GT and the Interceptor. While the Conti was a lot of fun, it directly put me into hooligan mode… aggressive riding position, nice sound, plenty of fun in the city. The Interceptor, however, is a totally different animal, although the bikes are technically almost identical. Relaxed riding position, same great engine and sound, comfortable and made for cruising. Can’t wait to see the new content from your next trip! You definitely bought a beauty at a more than reasonable price, especially considering the touring extras. Have fun!
@@FreeMilesMC When I saw the thumbnail, I wanted to recommend adding leather panniers and a small leather underseat tool bag for maximum style, but you beat me to it with the surfboard rack 👍🏻 …

So this is my third summer on a baker Express! After ditching the seat the unbalanced Brazilian pirelli tires and a better battery I've had absolutely no issues! I put a lot of modifications on it because that's just me. I made it into a cruiser before Royal Enfield came out with the super meteor cruiser. And I think I like mine better than theirs even though I haven't tried the super meteor yet! I'll tell you one thing they did right for sure is that motor! The motor is put together like a Swiss watch and coupling it with a super smooth six-speed tranny what else can go wrong nothing! Nothing that matters because everything else is good. Great stuff! I would go for a Japanese bike if I were you, however the fact you got the Royal with so little milage and inside the waranty, it's a steal in this price. Safe journeys mate!
nice, surely you will like it. (i can see 15mm of the fork legs showing on top.. lifting that + a bit playing with rear shocks + some 80/20 tyres and a proper preloads for luggage.. it can be just enough offroadization for touring.)
I've had an Interceptor for 9 months and about 2,400 miles. I'm still happy with it. It checks quite a few boxes for me: it looks *great*, it sounds great, gets great gas mileage (about 55-60mpg), it handles well, there's lots of aftermarket stuff. Around town it's fine but it wouldn't be fun riding it all day long. That and the right mirror vibrates. Also, it's hard to impossible to read the digital gas display in bright sunlight. Those are my only complaints. I've got four bikes in the garage and the Interceptor is my main squeeze.
Definitely considering one, especially with a chrome tank. But I'll need to figure out where to buy tubeless spoked rims for it coz I don't trust tubed tyres.

Hey Miles, congratulations on your new buy, I can't wait to watch your new adventures! 🥳👍 Now what I have done this summer is I bought a second hand R1200RT from 2007 with 2500gbp and went on tour for 2 weeks in Europe, England-France-Belgium-Germany-Switzerland-Italy-Spain-France-England, all in all 3300miles/5500Km, it was absolutely amazing and the bike had 0 issues, I can say RT is an amazing bike, yes I did all the service by myself in the shed before leaving, but now I have 3 BMW bikes, K1200RS 2001, k1200LT 2002 and the newest acquired R1200RT 2007, I don't think I will ever buy another type, make, of a bike, because BMWs are amazing...my own opinion of course. Motorcycling used to be an affordable mode of transport. Royal Enfield has brought this back. I stuck some Scorpion cans on mines just to increase the volume a little bit 😂
A very good bike for the home mechanic to maintain. As it's oil cooled, use the best oil available and change it regularly - don't skimp on this. Lock and nut valves will need frequent inspection but it's a simple job. Don't use a pressure washer on this bike! Frequent use of XCP Clear Coat or similar will be needed to keep it looking good.
You can scramble it, build a bash plate and put some knobby tyres on it. Considering some of the places you took the old bike, a scrambler would be good for you
It is truly great. Right now and the next 12-18 month is probably the best moment to get one economics wise. Because of the cost of living crisis dropping the bike prices for quit new used bikes. And also bike distributors for Royal enfild like ksr in Germany and Austria going bankrupt and also some similar situation in the uk
@@FreeMilesMC man this video was it. I'm waiting for my paid for insurance to run out this december and i'm selling my current bike and buying this one after that. It's your fault
Have you ever considered a Triumph Bonneville or speed twin as replacement bike since those bikes have similar retro vintage looks as Interceptor but with obviously more power and more sophisticated electronic on it
so you bought the interceptor at the price of a himalayan - yeah no shit bro who wouldn't have done that :D good point with the on-road focus for adv in europe. plus every bike is an offroad bike if you're brave enough ;) it's certainly enough ground clearance for 95% of the trails great looking bike. hope you have an excellent time with that. greetings from a himalayan owner from a place where the paved to offroad ratio is inverted to the one of europe :)
Thanks, yes i was considering That one too but i once Made à Video on the scram 411 witch is super close to the Himalayan and was not really a fan at least for riding in my home country
Well as you said, when a good deal is put right in front of you there is no need to spend days searching for a unicorn. I'm not a watersports guy, but warm location with surfing in a beautiful area - how about Croatia?
Congrats Bro! This is a beautiful bike. Have many safe miles on the new ride. Looking forward to the surf trip. Is it legal to use the surfboard mount in Germany???
Cool. That’s not too bad one. But what about Honda Rebel 300 or 500? Are they really more expensive than RE? I’ve got myself Rebel, because it’s same price ish but way more advanced. Particularly its weight.
If RE made a Himalayan-like bike with ~50 hp, the thing would sell like hot buns in Europe! You got yourself a very pretty looking machine, a real time machine. 🤗
@@papajulietromeo-650 So far Enfield failed to get real horsepowers out off smaller engines. If that rumour is true, they will explode in sales! That would be an absolutely perfect bike for many many thousands of European motorcyclists! 🤩
@@zweispurmopped Yeah, the air/oil cooled thumpers, designed for the hot climate in their home country, aren’t the most powerful units. Hopefully the new water cooled engine will be more on par with their competitors. A Scram 450 with around 45 hp and less than 190 kg would be nice… but it seems as if they also want to release a scrambler based on the 650 twin.
@@papajulietromeo-650 That engine needs to go into the Himalayan frame before anything else! Imagine a simpleton steel frame bike like the Himy with a decent 45hp engine and actual potential to dig through mud, sand and climb mountains! That would fill the gap the Trans Alp left open! That coming at the price of a good second hand Tans Alp would be a huge hit!
@@zweispurmopped google Himalayan 452 … the Himi will be the first to receive the new engine. Seems to be more like 40 hp, but still… if it puts out decent torque, 40 hp should be enough.
I love mine, but do yourself a favour and clear all the rubbish factory dielectric Grease out of all the connectors and relays and replace it with decent stuff. That's been the only causes of issues with mine. Oh, and bin the charcoal filter.

Wilkommen im Club, ich fahre auch eine Inter650. 🎉
Good choice
Nice bike choice. Will you be doing some restoration videos of the XJ?
Congratulations 🙌 ❤ … nice bike & good value for money ✨ … just other tires & maybe some protection & ready to go ,,, weight ?
Great video…..
great
Cool. That’s not too bad one. But what about Honda Rebel 300 or 500? Are they really more expensive than RE? I’ve got myself Rebel, because it’s same price ish but way more advanced. Particularly its weight.
Do you think leaving all the modern features that other bikes offer for the interceptor is worth it ? Asking as I am planning to buy it. Cheers!
nice!
I think you'll pick up more subs taking that bike on adventures.
yes its good bike and its cheap. though on freeways, may feel wanting more bhp. and those tubed tyres when punctures on tour, god help us.
Many many congratulations ❤❤ I hope you will be come Pakistan and the ride on new motor cycle 😀
How far did the xj go before it gave in?
If RE made a Himalayan-like bike with ~50 hp, the thing would sell like hot buns in Europe!
You got yourself a very pretty looking machine, a real time machine. 🤗
Did you see the spy shots? RE has a 450 water cooled Dual Sport / ADV in the making. Should put out around 40-50 hp if the rumors are correct.
Seems to be more like 40 hp, but still… if it puts out decent torque, 40 hp should be enough.
will you try to fix your old bike though as a project or just write it off?
I will try to fix it in winter and also try to refeature it in the future
Mmm in the reliability area on touring or off road those tubed tyres are a bit of a liability, tubeless would be better 😊
I want to carry my 9.6 longboard on my Honda Hornet.😄
Yes that would be cool I also wish I could have a longboard or live closer to the beach in the first place
Indian people love Royal Enfield bikes
My choice is also interceptor
nice bike
I love mine, but do yourself a favour and clear all the rubbish factory dielectric Grease out of all the connectors and relays and replace it with decent stuff. That's been the only causes of issues with mine. Oh, and bin the charcoal filter.
650 is good....350 is not enough Power for Mountain Roads etc.
Yes you are absolutly Right. The 350 Engine is nice for some cruising and works very well in the Meteor but it’s just not enough
VERY GOOD CHOICE....I PERSONALY, I WOULD NOT PREFER TO BUY A ROYAL ENFIELD BIKE,WITH THESE MONEY.GERMAN BIKE OR JAPANESE BIKE,USED.....HAVE FUN,RIDE SAFE
Jesus is that you
So main reason you bought it was because it was the cheapest option. Not very inspiring story
