regular cheap harbor freight puller to take off carrier bearing after pulling the rubber off

Thanks for showing the installation of the carrier bearing and dust shileds. You're such a big helper!
I like that you clean everything before installing new parts. I've seen some hackers just reinstall right on the rust.
To everybody wondering how to put the carrier bearing back on, buy 3 cans of air duster, turn them upside down and spray the shaft of the driveshaft and it will freeze it. Slide the carrier bearing on, may have to tap it a few times with a rubber mallet until it’s fully seated. Caution: the spray coming out of the cans will cause frostbite immediately if it comes into contact with skin and the fumes/vapor will cause harm to your lungs so use with caution, outside and maybe a fan to vent away from you and some welders gloves
Grocery stores have dry ice, I need to use it a lot for pumps and compressor rebuilds. Should work better, though I've never tried aerosol, but that's not a bad idea for something small in a pinch.
Why would you skip the process of putting the carrier bearing back on? I kinda needed to see that
I know man wtf
beat it on and hope for the best lol
Literally the only thing I came here for.
Same wtf
Towed it to a shop for that part.
Great video! Best job I've seen related to removing the carrier bearing! Thank you so much for taking the time to make it, and for sharing your expertise!
But how do we reinstall the carrier bearing?
@michaelkern8856 I'm late to the party but, slide the carrier bearing onto the driveshaft, then put your yoke on, then the threadlocker, nut, then tighten and it will push the center support bearing into place. If the center support bearing doesn't want to slide bad far enough to thread the nut on then grab a piece of 2x4 or any wood and put it on preferably the yoke, then tap it back with a hammer or mallet to where you can then thread the nut on
Finally! A good video. I’ve been looking everywhere d finally found a good video for dropping the driveshaft. Thank you
Excellent episode. Thank you so much
awesome video! love so much that you show part numbers!
I'm about to do this job. And this is. AGreat video, but I would like to see or. Know how to get the new Carrier bearing on. You didn't show that part. Does it just slide in
Or do you have to hammer it on
excellent video narration, explanation and filming
Well didn't everything just go so smooth... And the bearing installed itself too!
How do you know if the carrier bearing is bad? Why did you replace it?
Great vid. But literally the only thing I was unsure of was how to press on the carrier lol.
Me too lol
Was wondering the same thing.
Hello sir. On the F250, what cabs use carrier bearing? Thanks sir.
You showed using a claw looking puller to pull the old bearing off but then the new bearing was just magically on there
right!
What size u-joints did you use? I used Dana Spicer 1410 and could get both inner snap rings to lock into the groove
You likely bent the yoke on your driveshaft?
Are those parts gonna cause a chirping sound like squeak at 40, 55, 60 mph those specific mph slight vibration *when* it does chirp/squeak? Ideas
What is the correct torque for the 33mm nut? Thanks
what is the part number for the u joints
You skipped an important step.
Installing the new carrier bearing.
Great video. What made you decide to change carrier bearing and U joint ? Having an issue ?
When I had to install the carrier drop bracket on my driveshaft I noticed the rubber was worn out. So I bought the whole kit to service the driveshaft. The u-joints did have more life left but the new ones feel way better/smooth. I went back with all spicer for reliability. It drives much smoother now but I never noticed it was that bad. I'm going through everything on this truck and doing maintenance/upgrades. Everything had 227k miles on it.
My truck also has 259 k or so on it. Noticed that the carrier moves up and down about 1 inch, I assume that is not normal
@@michaelkern8856 Yes, change it. My 2002 F-250 226K has this noise and the way I describe is a hum, gets louder as you go faster. Got underneath and my carrier bearing is toast!! Can a machine shop or drive line shop clean off the rust from drivelines and make them look better?
How did you press the new carrier on
Nothing in your video about aligning the shaft?
What brand was the socket set 33 mm ?? Do you have a part number to the set and the brand?? What sizes came in the set???
Its just a cheap generic kit from ebay. I just bought the cheapest set I could find at the time and it hasn't failed me yet.
Great vid
You didn't show us how to remove that thing off the spline
Jump right over the carrier install.... nice
Try using some oil on your ball joint press that helps
should have done the seals while apart. good vid
What size is that center yoke nut?
33mm or 1 5/16" socket.
When you put that press clamp on you're only supposed to tighten it down around 40-60 foot pound and then tap on the sides so you don't spread the yolk.
I did a 4 with a hammer and socket. Then I got the press and did a 2 very carefully with a impact. The last 4 were pressed with a regular yellow ratchet I always use ( if I had my electric ratchet (35ftlb max) I would have used that). They all went in easy with no torque really needed. I tapped with a hammer to make sure everything moves good afterwards and it ran smooth and quiet for the few months I drove it.
When the ujoints falls out of the cup you take a chance that none of the pins misalign or go crooked when you just put it back in and hit it with the air gun
Great video thanks
My 2005 E350 doesn't look anything like this
Your E350 doesn't have a 2 piece rear drive shaft.
Jeez, don't do it the way this guy does
You didn’t show anything on installing the carrier bearing. Nobody cares that you can do it, just show the process.
Terrible video skipped the whole bearing installation terrible
