The best instrumental of all time. It doesn't get any better than this when it comes to keyboard playing with long solos. Billy Preston was the man. He played with the Beatles and the Stones just to show how good he was as an all around musician . I can't get enough of this classic. I play it over and over and each time it gets better and better
I didn't hear this until a little later. When Space Race came out I had a radio in my room, and bought that single (I still have it). A while back, I listened to "Frankenstein". I hadn't heard it in a while. Back then "Funk" was not in my vocabulary, so I just thought of it as Rock, but I was surprised at the funk in it that went over my head when I was a kid.
This song was a hit when I was a kid. It was a great disco song to dance to. Billy Preston was the best on the synthesizer. It was long before computers in music.
I remember hearing this in the early 70's, and I couldn't believe my ears. I was awestruck by the incredible sounds and musicianship. 50 years later it's still miles ahead of today's "music".

Soul Train came on at noon on Channel 11 and Bandstand at 11:30 on Channel 7 in LA. We got up and changed the channel back and forth between 12 and 12:30. Godzilla came on Channel 5 at 2 o'clock.

In the San Francisco Bay Area, Soul Train and Bandstand were direct competitors at 12:00, Soul Train on Channel 2 and Bandstand on Channel 7. Depending who was on, you'd flip, but it was Soul Train , 2 to 1.
