Johnny Mathis is known for his beautiful romantic ballads. He has a very unique velvet voice. His music has spanned over 6 decades. He had so many great hits such as "Wonderful! Wonderful!", "It's Not for Me to Say", "The Twelfth Of Never", "Gina", "What Will Mary Say", "Misty" etc. He also did a couple of duets with Deniece Williams "Too Much, Too Little, Too Late" & "You're All I Need to Get By".

Johnny Mathis is one of my favorite voices! If he didn't do an album, he did a lot of tv specials and concerts and can still sing! If you want another love song/ballad; try "It's not for me to say," "Misty," and "The Twelfth of Never!" Another one of my favorites is "Wonderful! Wonderful!" and this is a strong song for him and he also love singing Broadway tunes in his concerts too!

Love that voice. So chill. If his voice was a fabric, it would be velvet

As an African American Baby Boomer, thank you for your reaction to one of the great crooners/ballad singers of his generation. Indeed, his songs are timeless.
Fun fact: what is telling about this song is that the gender of the person he is singing to is never stated. As a Black gay man in 1957, Johnny couldn't come out without putting his career in jeopardy, if not ending it. Thus, this was a way he could include the LGBT community in his music.
He did come out in 1982. Because coming out is a process, he came out again in 2016.
Hope you check out more of his work, like "Misty," and "Wonderful Wonderful," to name a few.

Johnny Mathis is what I would call Quality voice. In my opinion, there are very few. Johnny started out singing opera, the way in the beginning. That's why his diction, & notes he sings are so clear & gentle. This is a cool upbeat for him, BRAZIL. I've seen Johnny in concert about 4-5 times when I was in my mid-twenties. Fantastic! He has more class in his finger than most I've come to know! His voice is spectacular. Now, next, my favorite female voice is Whitney Houston, & my top, the top is George Michael, I think this would tell you how I love top Quality artists! Their voices are just incomparable. George does some of these types of songs from the album SONGS FROM THE LAST CENTURY & THE SYPHONICA TOUR. He even sings a song that was one that Johnny Matis sang, WILD AS THE WIND, Absolutely gorgeous! Check more of Johnny & George & Whitney as well. Perfection! 😁🥰🎶🎶🎶💖
