Buying a NEW vehicle is one of the worst financial decisions a person can make. Unfortunately people have become so ignorant about and removed from “real things” (e.g. no more school shop classes) that they’re easy prey for stealerships. I despise car dealers, and unfortunately the service departments are the worst.
Car Dealership Service Departments ... aka ... Over Priced Parts-Bolt-On-Scammers. Remember to bring Lube ... bend over and listen for the KaChing!
I am so happy with my 2002 F150 Crew Cab Lariat only major things I replace is the transmission happy happy happy happy thank you very much🎉
Great truck
Thank you for this video. I don't think most care that they are paying too much, even $30,000 over priced, built worse, because like homes, being overpriced, Egos want to brag. Being smart and practical is not a value anymore. However, I think this is an important video and information to be out here. It may help those who have a little awareness to finally say no, I will not be cheated.
When you retire you’ll smile while those who impress will be shitting bricks when they realize way too late they wasted a lifetime of earnings.
Hi Mark. I hit the DC auto show yesterday. Noticeably less hype about EVs than last year, which was nice. Silverado EV looks depressing. Looked at a few stickers on toyos......taco was 53k USD, and a rav4 PHEV was 52k USD. Thats more than i paid for my custom 2019 f150 lariat 5.0l new. The santa fe sure was nice......,wish reliability was better. VW bus would be a winner with an ICE if they ever make one........but it cant sell for no 60k to 70k. Just insane pricing.
Nice truck
@Vincent-ke5zn thx. Im still lovin it and only have 8 payments left.
its funny u mention that vw van a month ago i picked up a used 22 passat from a dealer and i started looking at that van it was 70 grand i was like wtf and said to myself how cool this van would be one if it wasn't ev and gas and 2 if it was priced like 40ish.but def a funky fan.
Every year people get dumber and dumber and most are financially illiterate and will buy ANYTHING even when it's overpriced even when they can't afford the vehicles or items..this raises prices on everything hurting the rest of us.
I had to buy a different radio for my Ram to get a CD. Did I mention the radio was plug and play without a tow to a high dollar dealer getting involved to turn the radio on? I can even connect my phone to the radio with a wire if I want that part to work. I put the radio in around 15 years ago and the only time I hear it is when my nephews borrow the truck. Unlike their much more powerful newer diesels, they still prefer my old crude noisy truck for some reason.
Nice. Thanks for sharing and these older vehicle without tech still work just fine
About a year ago I looked into buying a new truck. After massive searching I game up on new and picked up a used 06 GMC Yukon with 112k miles. After a little work it drives like new. A year later my wife now drives it and I’m getting an 02 Suburban.
Stop buying new guys. Find a good older truck that will run forever.
Yes sometimes the older ones are totally worth it
Dodge should have kept the 5.2 Magnum, it's a better engine and the 5.9 ,they were gas hogs but they were reliable and tough
Oh yes I agree. My Dad had the older 5.2 and it was u stoppable. Almost as good as the 79s and 80s Chevy 350
Not only are the vehicles sitting on the auto lot for months to maybe a year, but they could be sitting at the railyard lot for months, cause they have vehicles at the auto lot of the BNSF (northern Illinois)railyard with damage from auto accidents in the auto lot and flat tires and they have cars there that sat for so long, they won't start
Yes all this sitting is not good for any of them and they are deteriorating
@markholubetz yes, it's like your brain, if you don't use it, you can lose it
I'm keeping my Ford Focus with 299k miles and manual transmission
You bet Vincent. If a car is reliable and easy to maintain, the. It’s a real keeper. That’s how I feel about my old 2003 Ram
@markholubetz definitely, if I were you, I would keep it, cause you know what you have and if it keeps running, why trade it
Is Dodge bringing the Dakota pickup truck back? If so, any clues as to what it will be like and its drive train options and other specifications?
There's a few reasons why you got prices like this. 1 is fan boys. Yes I said it. These are the ones who think all other talk about are "doom and gloom". You will never get through to them. This is the ones I see come on comments and say "I've had no issues with mine". Well thats great for you Fred, but plenty who have paid just as much money as you, if not more, are having problems, and those folks have every right to trash the maker. These are the people who will buy the vehicle regardless of price even if it's still a ridiculous payment and they know it's a ridiculous payment. Next, and this is reason most don't seem to grasp. This is not puzzling boss. Most auto makers had no choice but to start their EV programs. These cost a lot of fuggin money to do when you think about it. A good portion of the R and D money comes from sales profits. There's also the ridiculous fuel and CAFE standards that have to be met, and guess what??? There is only so much fuel economy you can squeeze out of an engine. The V8's started scaling back or going away altogether because auto makers were expecting the Democrats to hold power. Yes the EV stuff is on Democrats. Guys I see this stuff on thr floor every night. It's like I've been saying for months and people disregard it when I say the UAW was warned 3-4 years ago EVs wouldn't take as many people to build and it's already happening. Stellantis, which I worked for for 5 years, is in deep doo doo depending on how the 2028 election goes. The mechanical issues are stemming again from having to try to squeeze as much fuel economy as they can out of a mechanical engine. They can put all the fancy pants electronics and sensors on them, but at the heart of it, its still a big piece of metal with mechanical parts. Fellas you gotta look below the surface crap a little. It's like the tariffs. Take those for instance. Everyone knows Trump is all about them and the Democrats and their supporters love to talk about how Trump doesn't know what he's doing. But those very same people have no damn clue that Biden EXPANDED on them. Truth is the industry is at a serious cross roads right now and it all hinges on 2028.
Thanks for the comment and yes there are a bunch of reasons this all happened but ultimately buyers willing to overspend and OEMs nudged on emissions but pushed hard for profits and gouging of the consumers all at the hands of the enabling banks.
Manufacturer engineers dont get it. They want better mpgs at the cost of engine damage. Because the turbo puts much more air into the engine blowing head gaskets or valve from belt driven.
Go back to the 70s, and 80s never had reclls. Because vehicles were tested well before production.
Repos are up because people are biting off more than they can chew . You can't afford to pay $80k for a pickup truck when you make $60k /year
True and especially having to pay for food and housing
@markholubetz Also insurance for a new vehicle isn't cheap, and homeowners insurance is higher
I LOVE the straight 6.... CUMMINS not the hurricane.
When new trucks turn old, the cost of replacement plastic will bite you again.
Yes that’s the sad truth.
Mark, yell aat Toyota and tell them to bring back the 5.7 V8
Yes that’s a great engine. Not sure why they tires it, other than emissions standards
@markholubetz I'm sure that Toyota is paying $$$$$big to replace those defective engines
Gm with belt driving oil pump is another down fall
The 100k trucks are way out of my price range
Dealerships are screwed for paying 1 year of interest.
Nice
I’m lucky I have a good job and earn good money… I need a work truck like a HD 250-350 …what would you get ? Not GM engine recall etc … what do you think of a ford with the gas 7.3 engine?
Full transparency, I'm definitely a Ham lover 😊
I own a 21 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara 6-speed manual- V6
I will stay put
I'm happy with the Wrangler
Go figure 🤔
Gotta stick with that. Sounds like a great vehicle. Manual in the 6 is a keeper.
@markholubetz thank you!
I would not buy a vehicle with a turbo or internal water pump of any brand
Fix it up im broke
same here
Due to the high tech expensive repair cost i would not buy a new vehicle plus way over priced
Whatever happened to the Chevy Montana and the Ford $8,000 truck Toyota and Subaru what happened to all those load price trucks Saw them on RUclips but I haven't seen one on the lot
Hey y'all. come on over and be the 51st state. Let's be in this together!
Indeed
Agree if you drive 5000 miles year yes buy older used vehicle. Problem is that is the minority. I drive 25 to 30000 year in a work vehicke. Another 12000 in my personal vehicke.
Were can I get best deal 24 or 25 ram 2500 diesel tradesman 4x4 4 door automatic Thanks
at a ram dealer
Given 20 percent that is over priced by at least 50 percent over priced what a deal lol
Check inflation, you can't blame them for that. Also another reason for a crap product.
Yes quality is certainly down and in a big way. Honestly the corporate business model has a lot of inefficiencies which is why the overhead costs them dearly
@@markholubetz I think once costs get to a certain point a business model thats successful at a lower cost point and with less regulation its easier to maintain a quality product and cater to the customer. Once those negatives take hold it becomes a game of survival. Its almost like the last administration was trying to dismantle these big 3 to replace them with something else. Thats what is starting to make sense to me.
I'm think I'm going to chalk this one up to the tyranny of the biden harris nightmare. Now thats out of the way we can get back to making decent cars again.
I just noticed from your face that you look stressed my friend. You need to get checked up...
Yes these prices are stressful and the cars are not what most are looking for in terms of quality
