Redline products were truly another level compared to Haro and GT, no doubt due to Linn's dedication to details, high standards, and commitment to engineering excellence. I broke many Haro frames and forks from this era, and my Redline frame took my abuse with ease, including the forks, and forklifter handlebars, all three of which are currently 20 feet away on my original bike, and still look and perform like the day they left the factory. Redline flight cranks are also legendary. The Redline stem was not good, way too narrow, but no one is perfect. 😄 Thanks for making such great products Linn! 👍

This man is a genius. Hopefully they will continue production. Forklifters should always be in production.

This is a terrific short video showing the design work that went into that frame. Certainly one of the most iconic freestyle frames of all time.

Love it, respect to Linn for everything that he brought to BMX. Loved that he never took the easy route, just the best engineering route. From Fully rolled tubing on the end of seat and chainstays on a Proline to the invention and fully wrapped engineering of Flight Cranks. Oh and then of course there was them forks ..... Please Linn for your next project please bring out a Proline Frame for us racers. x

i used to have one back in the day. He's right about the strongest! it didn't hurt that 48 spoke wheels were part of the package. It also had a unique fork with threads to accept pegs that were high near the brake calipers. the fork was tapered as well. If i recall it was about $500 in 1986 money. My mother sold it (without my knowing) while i was away in college to some kid for $150

Even Linn describes the original oval tube used instead of the flat sided oval.. I'd like to hear him talk about that decision and information that was kept from us

i had the 85 ( white ) and 85 ( teal ) i wouldn't pay what they go for now. I enjoyed mine when my body could do those things. l think it looks better than any other 80s bmx but that's me, we like what we used to have.

What does the "3" mean on the seat tube? Generation 3? But the RL-20II was Generation 1?

Ahead of its time. I owned three in my lifetime and currently own one that was painted tomato red over the original turquoise finish then later at some point years ago the previous owner discover the original turquoise paint exposed by tomato red paint chipped off so they removed the red saved original paint underneath but still have red visible in a tight spot like inside headtube and under gusset. Could be one of few prototype 1985 tomato-red frame? We will never know but this will go down to the grave with me.

They were too tall. Everyone knew they were absolute top notch engineered, and totally beautiful. But when you rode it, it has a VERY noticeable high bottom bracket height. This one feature alone kept it from being as popular as the Haros and GTs. The feeling was that of today's 22 inch wheeled bikes when you rode one.

Had a higher center of gravity. For flatland that’s everything. For crusing…get get something else. Who cruses on a freestyle bike anyways?? Lol

Actually just saw the reason on another video about him. He makes a hand tow bar for small aircraft that uses a milwaukee hole hawg drill for power. Now i know. And for anyone else that may wonder. Lol
