I enjoyed his point of view. Guys focus on the key points and don't need all the details.
Kody did bring her in so you are both right. I also liked Kody at first. Robyn wanted the sister wife life, she just didn't want to participate in what it actually takes to be one. I think Ribyn may have actually did the O.G. 3 a favor. They were most likley not prepared for the kids to grow up and actually have relationships with each other. Thats when many stable marriages start to crack.

You're both right. Robyn was the catalyst but only in so much as Kody allowed her to be by changing the rules for her. Affection before marriage. Staying days at a time 5hours away. 11 day honeymoon. Prioritizing a new wife over a new baby Truley. Those were all things Kody ok'd, knowing he never even considered doing with his previous wives.

I have a theory about this situation and others like it. When a man has settled into marriage with a strong woman, he is fine with letting her ( in this case them) support him comfortably. But when he's a narcissistic control freak and a new woman comes along who is a " damsel in distress" , it feeds his ego to rescue her. In order to justify his betrayal of his wife ( wives) he becomes critical of the stronger woman simply because she's not dependant on him and will advocate for herself and their children. This is how countless marriages fail.

I agree with Sarah, Robyn is the catalyst for the downfall of the family. Kody has screamed it from the rooftops, so we don't have to wonder. He loves Robyn so much that the thought of the other wives disgusted him and he felt like he was betraying Robyn if he was emotionally or physically there for any other wife. Robyn constantly turning Kody off from his other wives and kids by telling Kody how horrible they all treated her. Behind closed doors Robyn knows how to control Kody by how she says things, using very descriptive language (making herself and her kids victims of the OG3 and OG13) to turn kody against his other wives and kids. Robyn's is awful, kody is just an idiot who fell for Robyns manipulation tactics.

The only successful polygamist family we're slightly aware of is Brady Williams and his family. And the only reason they didn't last on TLC is because they wouldn't fabricate drama for ratings. Saw a recent interview with him and the family is still thriving. So a good man can make it work. But it seems to be super rare.

I believe if there is no show, there is no Robyn. But if Kody had acquired Robyn with no show, there would have been no Nanny and the help that allowed Robyn to make Kody’s life a vacation at her house. So he may not have become so infatuated with her. There are so many variables. It would have been a very different life for them.

Robyn was as tone deaf as ever. She sucked the oxygen and the fun out of the room. Meri was just trying to get through the day and make Robyn go away fast so that she could get back to loading the truck and getting out of Flagstaff. Robyn was visibly upset that Meri was not opening her present in front of the camera and forced the issue. A “Junk Journal”. Really! Robyn implies that Meri had no dreams, no plans, no therapy until the day she moves out of Flagstaff. What did Robyn think the Release was? What did she think Meri shutting down the rental in Flagstaff was? What did she think Meri’s BnB was? She bought it years ago. They are action items from Meri’s own junk journal that she had been nurturing for years. It was all about Robyn crying to the camera, "See! I'm a good person!" Robyn, if you are not bringing pizza and beer on moving day, you are not helping. Robyn tried to make it all about Robyn. Robyn needs a psychiatrist, therapy would not be enough to help her.

Gabe’s birthday, it was the circumstances. The family was already suspecting the Covid rules were an excuse to spend all his time with Robin’s family. The boys had begged for dad time. It was mentioned that birthdays were always a huge deal in their family. This was kind of a confirmation to Gabe that maybe their suspicions were real.

Woohooooo! Great podcast with the two of you! No no Matt! We do not defend Robyn here. 😂 I think Robyn coming in with her three kids from a previous marriage, 30K in debt, demanding equal time with Kody before they were married, and her lies would have blown this family up (along with Kody) even if they didn’t have the TLC reality show 🤷‍♀️. I think the show only accelerated the whole thing. Kody is such as asshat narcissist he just cannot help himself. I’m so over the two of them. Let’s have a show without Kody two hairs and Crybrows, and just the OG3 and the OG kids 🎉
PS I love when Matt does his impression of Kody 😆

I just have to say I love this space. The deep green chairs & wallpaper are perfection & goes perfectly with the stripes & Char rail?
    Just lovely ♥
P.S. I do think Robyn is the straw that broke the camel's back - going back to kissing before marriage AND Kody secretly choosing the dress.
That said - the show gave the women the agency and financial ability to move. I think Meri did not put all her earnings into the family pot, Janelle did and I think Christine did until Truely's liver failure and then started a separate account.

The catalyst. What happened? Kody was 40 years old. He was having a mid-life crisis. Kody wanted out. Robyn was thin, 10 years younger, his 'diesel jeans' model status symbol. All during the courtship, Kody could escape his family 4 hours away every other week-end and be adored by Robyn and her 3 children. Kody came to love the simplicity of 1 wife and only 3 children. When he was sealed to Robyn, he effectively divorced the OG3 and the OG13 kids.

  • @lauriehuber8048
    @lauriehuber8048 12 дней назад +1

It was actually Meri who vetted out Robin for Cody..
Meri talks about this in a couch confessional…
It made her feel special and she was trying to vie for Cody’s favour as he was already abandoning her by this point..
She says that her and Cody kept their pursuit of Robin a secret from the other wives and that made her feel special…
That is probably what also contributed to why Christine and Janelle did not trust Meri…
There was all kinds of trouble in that family since the conception…
They were all young teenagers playing at grownup!

She’s as manipulative as Kody. She gave him her pencil box. She says she wants things then acts totally the opposite. She tries to look like she’s that person but doesn’t walk the walk.shes full of shit.

33:08 first, omg I absolutely love this set! Especially wallpaper. It totally slays!
I totally agree about the confessionals becoming a big factor to any relationship. I also think Robin would have caused a chasm in all the relationships with the OG3s.
I have a different take on it. I think their relationships were doomed regardless. I think that the shifts in our culture (introduced to them by their children) would have enlightened the ladies to see how unhappy and unfulfilled they were.
I feel like they weren't entrenched enough in this religion to have their indoctrination needed to keep up with something so heartbreaking and soul crushing to themselves.

You're missing information. Robin 's family owned the house in Utah were Kody and OG's lived. They rented from them. Robin, like the rest of their congregation, knew they were going to do the show. Robin always wanted to be wealthy and famous. She drove hours from were she lived in order to "run into" Cody. She purposely went to gatherings that she knew Mary was attending, and approached and formed a friendship with her...purposefully

i tend to think the catalyst was the show, but that's only because i think the show was the main reason robyn even came into the family, honestly. she could see the dollar signs flowing in.
and the fault lays with both of them. of course, kody shouldn't have sidelined his other wives and kids to play favorites with robyn and her progeny, that's a given. he's a piece of trash. but robyn knew he was doing that and not only did she not do anything to stop it, but actively enabled it. she wanted the sister wives because she wanted to be the queen bee and for that she needed others to be superior to. she didn't want them around to forge actual relationships with them, as meri has now confirmed.

They probably didn't. Their name is most likely unrelated as there's a finite amount of words, and hiking isn't the theme of their podcast.

@happy_camper1664 if you watched the introduction of the podcast (the one before this) you would have known they discussed the name of the podcast. They knew

Enjoyed the podcast. A littke constructive criticism would be that i wish that Sarah did a little more of the talking. Felt a little unbalanced in that Matt seemed to be sharing more of his opinion it would be good if the commentary was more equal. I enjoy her podcasts and this felt a little less like a team effort.

Kody is trying to make himself interesting and valuable not realizing he’s making a fool of himself. Yes with a different wife very possible the family would have still been together.

I didn’t start watching SW for a villain. I was interested in polygamy and in the beginning it looked functional and healthy, yeah siblings fighting normal stuff. They always had something going birthday parties etc. money and Robyn changed a lot. I no longer watch the show because of Kody.

I’ve enjoyed listening to you and your husband. However a mild suggestion. Sara you interrupt Matt a lot and don’t let him finish his thoughts.

Lol, the Book of Mormon reads just like a Bible. There is nothing in there about how to be a polygamist 😂

This may not be the type of dynamic and podcast you want to listen to.
They may have different communication types than you, and that's okay. They dont have to change how they banter- it keeps energy up and keep other listeners engaged.
Her normal content is scripted and more edited.
