i understand ive been playing guitar 20 years he just need more volume on his acoustic in my oponion this can be resolved by putting the mic closer to the sound hole or get 2 mics
Among everything this guy is good at, I think what really sets him apart is his ability to stay right on time during those ripping solos. Many people can't even stay on time with a whole band but he's just by himself. Killer cover as always!
@@garryprendergast6183 Because the same issue we face alone as musicians with tempo is only exacerbated with multiple musicians; each person has to keep tempo with one another, and any variance can sway the flow of the entire song. Watch a live video from like Dave Matthews Band or another good stage presence, and see if the tempo keeps the same bpm throughout or if they pick up or slow down over time.
What’s remarkable here is moving seamlessly from rhythmic parts to open soloing, while dropping in carefully placed muted strums and rhythmic motifs as place markers to help listeners keep track of the beat. I’m not a big fan of the ubiquitous click tracks to which most modern digital recordings are snapped. The tools available for digital music production today are amazing- GarageBand which comes loaded free on your IPhone has capabilities that George Martin and the Beatles could not even have dreamed of when they pioneered music creation in a multi track studio setting, but those click tracks can and often do give music a soulless and mechanical feel. This guy’s performances have what the creators from the pre-digital era that he mines for material also had- a flexible but strong and solid inner sense of time which informs every sound he makes.
For anyone new: Corey is one of the best acoustic guitarists I’ve ever seen. For years he has absolutely shocked me. He is up there with the likes of the best without a doubt, whether it be Tommy Emmanuel or Chet Atkins. He is a phenom and a major talent, and deserves far more recognition than he has.
I left my jaw on the ground. That was seriously sick. I thought after seeing Satriani, Vai, SRV and other major guitarists I couldn't be impressed anymore. I was wrong. Unreal guitar and vocal skills. This guy deserves a big stage.
This is just incredible. The guitar riffs alone are outstanding, but then you somehow figured out how to sing in stride (and extremely well). If I had a full lifetime to practice guitar, this would be my goal. Bravo, Corey.
I have a bad habit of searching out covers to songs I love. Of all the covers of this song I have heard, they are all just making noise by comparison. You killed it man👍
Incredible talent on display here. It takes an enormous amount of discipline, practice and dedication to get to this level of proficiency. Just awesome.
I love how your first video was already mind blowing. Then you re do it 11 years later and totally Blow your own self outa the water with another performance. Please never stop making music
Love it man love the energy this guy puts into the music that he plays on that guitar that gets you pumped up ready to jam thanks man Big Time see you in the circle my friend thanks again
So so good. What a pleasure to watch that perfect acoustic playing and groove. Those fast chord changes are smooth as butter. An animal on guitar, somewhat reminds me of John Mayer.
Incredible and unbelievable as always. Whenever I feel lazy and not in the mood to play guitar I check your videos to get inspired. You're playing a huge role in helping me to practice daily. Thank you dude 🤘🤘🤘
From a Aussie from Australia 🇦🇺 Corey…You’re frickin Awesome Corey and what I love about you is how Humble you are and don’t realise how Fantastic you are
Superb. Bringing out the jazz in Stevie. Singing's brilliant too. You make it your own while remaining absolutely faithful to the spirit of the original. The soul.
Thanks for inspiring me to have a crack at this song13 years ago with your first version. Couldn't match you then - certainly can't match you now! I wish you lots of success with STARBIRD, but for me it's you with just your acoustic guitar that I love. Fantastic work!
Amazing, it's people like yourself who make me pick up my guitar everyday. I would more than happy to have a quarter of your talent. Outstanding Corey, You have a great future ahead of you 👏👏👏
YES! Finally, the (seemingly) more organized and meticulously coordinated cover version that I`ve always anticipated to arise throughout the livestream series and before. Better than I expected which is saying a lot - being a long time follower, even before I had a yt account to subscibe with.
I just cannot believe every video that you do is just through the roof! Man, you should have record deals everywhere, brother, I don’t think there’s anyone out there like you! What a blessing to be able to watch you play!
Corey - I was listening to your version of this that’s 11 year old a few weeks ago. I also commented suggesting you should do a new version with your new sound gear!! Even if it wasn’t to do with my comment, I am gonna take the credit!! 😂 I was literally just listening to your old tune on YT and I looked underneath and seen you did new version, 4 hours ago! As much as I love the old version, I am gonna enjoy this for a while and dare I say it’s even better. 👍🏻
Wow what a Saturday Morning find! Sitting at my table cruising through youtube covers and SLAM! Nice job. PS came in on Snow and kept hitting the next button,
In general I hate it when people just show off for the hell of it... and I LOVE it when people just can´t help themselves by demonstrating their true talent, just like Corey is doing here. so freaking cool!!
I'm gonna have to learn this. So, I set my RUclips player to 0.5 speed to slow it down and try to understand this arrangement. Got through about the first 30 seconds. There is a ton of subtle dead notes, mutes, and.. kind of...momentary "ghost" chords just in the intro. Really makes me appreciate Corey's technical skill.
its been almost nine yers since i´ve been listening your version of the island...... happy to see you are doing well. and perfect as always. cheers from argentina.
Bro I LOVE this! I've been trying to arrange Superstition for my acoustic set and needed some ideas... First of all, you're amazing! And second of all THANK YOU, you've given me a lot to work with and learn from; you did such a sick job with this. I'm a fan now!
It’s blowing my mind and filling me with hope because if this man’s talent he truly is a master blaster hahaha of the scale with talent best cover out there he’s a star 👍🏻🤘😵💫❤️😎
Amazing! I used watch Phil X rendition for this song everytime (until song was dropped, I supposed because copyright), but acoustically it's another dimension, and your voice it's very fresh and talented.
Absolutely love your guitar technique. The way that you record. Your voice is absolutely perfect. So many people put way too much reverb on their voice. Sounds to me like you put just enough. To accentuate the room you are in.
Awesome! Such an iconic sounding James Bond tune, like it was always part of the soundtrack to the series. So well written and you played it perfectly!
My latest album STARBIRD is now available! Listen here: ruclips.net/video/zegRt3yt1As/видео.html
New subscriber for sure. Well done.
I find it on the apple music.Awesome playing and nice voice.👍🤘
funky as fwwk pal x _x
People don’t really understand how Talented this guy is , This is extremely difficult to play and extremely creative
Awesome vocals too.
i understand ive been playing guitar 20 years he just need more volume on his acoustic in my oponion this can be resolved by putting the mic closer to the sound hole or get 2 mics
Holy fuck!!!!!
Guitarists understand..😎
Yeah it's not easy to play. It's a complete feel song. Gotta have great rhythm to play it. This isn't how SRV plays it though, not at all.
Best guitar player I’ve ever seen
Likewise Brother Man
If anyone deserves to be famous it’s this guy. Not hard to tell he put the work in
@@nobutur disagree fully, not only that but he has his own music.
@@nobutur somebody never heard of MFGG
I truly mean this.... this is my favorite version of this song.. ever. Above both Stevies and everyone else. Omgooossshhhh
Wow.. i’m speechless.

You’re so right
THIS RHYTHM MAN...
Agreed. Top go to RUclips.
So true
I agree...; have never seen such talent in guitar an Corey also sing too much...! thanks from Brazil...👏👏🌹

It's easier to stay on time playing by yourself but you are right.
@@Aseyona don't see your shit on here, so how you know it's easier to keep time. ???????

One of my favorite acoustic covers out there overall, just love those pentatonic plucked riffs
So so good. What a pleasure to watch that perfect acoustic playing and groove. Those fast chord changes are smooth as butter. An animal on guitar, somewhat reminds me of John Mayer.
You’re absolutely INSANE before the vocals start, and then I just about shit my pants when you started singing… Good lord man 🤯
So hard to strum, play lead and keep rhythm singing at the same time. Proper, well done 👏
Not hard for Corey! His just has that Natural Gift!

On a livestream too - so essentially first take?! Mind-blowing.
Man that groove! Usually I am all about the intricate fingerpicking but this just rocks man.
