  • Thanks for all the great suggestions. My air fryer officially has a name! I'm loving this air fryer. Makes cooking so simple and delicious!
    Ingredients:
1 8-10 ounce steak, your choice of cut (I used shank steak)
1 8 oz bottle of Teriyaki sauce for marinade
    5-6 button mushrooms
    1/2 yellow onion, sliced thin
    Directions:
    1. Cut steak into 1 inch cubes. Slice onion and mushrooms.
    2. In a large bowl, marinade the steak, onion, and mushrooms, in the Teriyaki sauce in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
    3. Pick out the meat and cook in your fryer at 400F for 5 minutes.
    4. Pull out basket and shake. Add mushrooms and onion and cook an additional 5 minutes (or until desired level of doneness).
    5. Serve over warm rice.

My mom and I now pronounce “Teriyaki” the way Mrs. Phyllis did. Always found humor in that. Really like this recipe!

You could always add a tsp. of corn starch to your teriyaki sauce then heat it on the stove. It will become ever so slightly thickened and will make a nice addition over your pile of rice and meat. I’ll be making this delicious looking recipe. Love the name “Airlene” and yes, a sweet tribute to the RMR. 🎄🎄🎄

You could boil the marinade in a pot and reduce it for a really good sauce (& to kill any bacteria from the raw meat) to go over your rice. If you really liked the dish, you could go ahead and marinate the other steak in it. I'm glad the meat was tender--when you said shank steak, I thought it would need to be braised a long time to become tender. The air fryer is great for those of us who like to whip up something quick. I rarely think ahead enough to use the slow cooker.

If you haven't had little smokies this way, you may want to give it a try. Wrap bacon around the smokies and roll them in brown sugar then you can bake, put in a toaster oven or I'm sure you can make them in your air I mean AIRLENE fryer. I don't remember what temp I baked them on in the oven, probably 350° to 400°, you'll be able to tell when the bacon is done, same with the toaster oven. Sorry I didn't give good directions on cooking them, they are very good though. In the oven You'll want to bake them on a cookie rack so they don't sit in all the grease. You and your lovely wife have a good and Blessed day. (I hope this message goes through ok, reception is awful and I have to keep tapping send)

Col. Ritter, many years ago my beloved husband and hosted forign missionaries in our home while they attended Bible College. I had a nice young man from Mexico come to live with us for 3 years. He told me he didn't like eating anything that ended with "aki" "ini" or "etti" then I figured out he meant Teriyaki, Linguini and Spaghetti. Poor guy had stomach cancer, while he was in the USA. They removed his stomach and connected the small intestine to his esophagus.
By lunchtime his breakfast was already through his body and out. He was such a dear sweet person. He loved to eat.

The sauce would be good if you mixed Teriyaki & Soy sauce, but only put in a little soy sauce because it's salty. Mix teriyaki & soy sauce together & microwave, heat it up for about a minute & pour it over your steak mushrooms & onions & rice, add black pepper but no salt, the soy sauce is salty enough. Enjoy. 😋

    I'm a loyal Hoosier.
I live at the very, very bottom of Indiana, & can actually see Louisville, (looking past the Ohio River) from my back yard. With every photo, & video from helicopters, 🚁 etc., my anxiety rises some, & my heart breaks. 💔 PLEASE, remember all of those families in western Kentucky for the next month or two.
The death toll, including an infant, toddler, & five year old continues to grow.
My son, grandson, & granddaughter live in Kentucky very close to Mayfield, Kentucky.

That one looked easy. In my opinion after the raw meat sits in the sauce it isn't a good idea to ingest it. Maybe if you cooked it. "Teriyaka" is so tasty no matter how you pronounce it. Keep in mind it didn't become popular in the US until the late 1970s and only on the west coast initially. Women our age (70ish) didn't grow up with it. I first heard of it when I was in my 30s.
