    Chris Hansen had an affair with a 30 year old. You can't compare that with trying to have a sexual tryst with a 12 year old. NO COMPARISON.

      agreed. at the same time though any cheater is a piece of shit. and hansen deserves that blow since he's always hitting below the belt on his program. calling people out on irrelevant things. like on guy had a t-shirt on that was affiliated with MIT and he was a math teacher and hansen said, look at that tshirt he's got on, it's typically worn by students who go to MIT, but [predator name] didn't go to MIT he went to a SMALL college in NY.

      johnmburt1960: Agreed, entertainment value should not be the forefront of anybody's mind. I just want bad people stopped. Do some honest detection, prove if the suspect has criminal intent, bag him. I don't need to see the justice _unfold_ to serve my own hunger. The show felt cringy to me and the only reason these people sought out children was to serve their own urge I doubt they had much control over.
      I'm aware the States doesn't much help rehabilitate or improve most criminals in any way, but the show need only focus on the capturing, not the luring, or the gloating from the host.

      so you would rather them have sex with children tell they one day if ever get caught.sorry but letting that happen is all kinds of wrong. when you can put an actor that looks like a kid be in a chat room and let the perverts start the chat then let him start talking about sex then the pervert wants to come over.comes inside and the police are waiting sounds much better to me. if your kid was in this Scenario at what point would you call the cops? when you found out an adult was knowingly having chat sex with your little girl?when you find out that the guy hasn't touched her yet but has been talking with her outside after school?well maybe it will take you coming home and finding the guy having sex with your kid or worse yet you come home and your kid is gone? .....the fact is it is not real to me but it is damn sure very real to the guys they step inside that door its game over they broke a few laws. this show might have stopped a murder or rapes of children..thats how this show got started victims and familys of victims started this

    • @markleyp03
      @markleyp03 7 лет назад +15

      We attack the show because of its vigilante justice. They decide who is guilty, that is not how american law works. These men might be pedophiles, but purely being a pedophile is not illegal. Having sex with someone underage is illegal. These men were trying to do something illegal but never did it. In America, for the most part, that means it is not illegal. The show also ruins these men's lives, which is why people sue them. There is a strong argument to be made that it was the adraneline rush of getting a child to agree to have sex with you, which is not illegal, and then going to the house is just a stronger adrenaline rush. These men might have no desire to have sex, but could just like the idea of it, and that is not harmful to someone nor is it illegal.

    However, if a predator is in our towns preying on our children then that is our business.
    Those that claim that they were "set up" or "yeah, spend lots of $ to lock them up" or even that Hansen spent donated $ to do the show ... I think I'd rather see predators caught & put behind bars no matter the $.
    Are you going to put a price on your kids to keep them safe?
    There is no telling that if these had not of been decoys, what would have actually happened if they were children.

      nunya baznus I feel kinda funny about the idea of entrapment. Its like saying its OK to do something THAT YOU FULLY UNDERSTAND IS ILLEGAL as long as you were tricked into it by law enforcement or the government... like really? That sounds nutty. Its almost like the idea implies that if anyone was given the opportunity who knew the laws then in the same situation, they'd have sex with underage people. Um... no... I do understand there is a rule against entrapment, I just think its stupid. Maybe there is something I'm missing, but when someone says "hey this is illegal, do not ever do that" and you decide "hey, I'm going to do that thing"... come on...

    • @DragonCharlz
      @DragonCharlz 8 лет назад +2

      nunya baznus Well, for one thing, Dateline works WITH the police, so the police are also their doing their job, too. I'm still stuck at the point where people who are getting caught on this show clearly had every intention of fucking children based on overwhelming amounts of evidence, and no amount of going entrapment makes me believe that these guys wouldn't have raped the shit out of little girls and boys if Chris Hansen and the police weren't actually there. People who are not child rapist will NEVER be "entrapped" in these scenarios, period. You can't walk up to a random person who has no interest or a strong aversion to fucking children and then magically convince them to meet a 13 year old girl home alone for sex using some mental voodoo. Every time I think of entrapment, I just think its bullshit. DO NOT DO THINGS THAT ARE ILLEGAL. What part of that is hard to understand?

    • @DragonCharlz
      @DragonCharlz 8 лет назад +3

      nunya baznus OK, so just answer this. Why is it that you should be allowed to do something that you know ahead of time is illegal but you have been lured into it? For context, why should you be able to solicit sex with a minor and travel to their house for sex, which is illegal and everyone knows this, but have it thrown out because you were "tricked" into it? Are they really tricked? Maybe I'm missing something but I've thought about this many times and I don't get it.

      NO ONE IS DEFENDING PEDOPHILES
      What people are arguing is that even though they're caught in the act, we can't just go and off someone because of a fucking tv show. The U.S has a thing called due process. Murderers go through it, thieves go through it, and yes surprise surprise PEDOPHILES GO THROUGH DUE PROCESS TOO! I don't get how any sane person can use "The end justifies the means" bullshit. You know who uses that logic? ISIS, you know who else used it? The KKK.
      I'm not saying what the pedophiles did was right, but what I am saying is that you're worse than the pedophiles for ignoring basic human rights.
      +zippity

You do realize that ALL these men think they're arriving at a THIRTEEN YEAR OLD GIRLS house TO HAVE SEX WITH HER, RIGHT??? i don't give a flying fuck about this whiny narrators whiny reasons this show is bad. The only thing that would've pissed me off is if it turned out to all be fake, and that all the men were just actors. Other than that, they all got what they deserved, including the public humiliation. It's not like there was any confusion whatsoever, AT ALL that this was a BABY GIRL that they were talking to about having sex with. The only thing that pissed me off with this show, was that some of the men weren't prosecuted..

    • @biloxielizabeth6291
      @biloxielizabeth6291 8 лет назад +10

      Lukands, I've never replied to someone who is a pedo-apologist before, and I'm not going to start now. The reason I'm talking to you is because I think you'd've said the same thing no matter what kind of bad person we were talking about. However, you need to realize that pedophiles can't be "reformed", ever. There's no way to 'fix' them or 'rehab' them or anything else. Normal, grown up men and women are sexually attracted to other grown up men and women. No matter their 'sexuality', whether they're homosexuals or straight, they're sexually attracted to other grown ups. Pedophiles sexuality, (that means who they're sexually attracted to) is CHILDREN. That can't be fixed, and there's no drug or treatment program that can change that. It's the same thing with sociopaths. There's nothing that can be done to fix or rehab them either. The main difference between the two is that PEDOPHILES DON'T HAVE TO ACT ON THEIR SEXUAL URGES, YET THEY CHOOSE TO DO IT ANYWAY KNOWING IT'S WRONG AND THAT THEY'RE DESTROYING YOUNG CHILDREN'S LIVES.
      And so that's why people feel so strongly that all pedo's that are caught should just be killed. They contribute NOTHING to society except to kill a child's innocence, peace, spirit, soul, mind, trust, and everything good in their little short lives. I'm seriously asking you how you can defend that? How is it that you're more worried for justice for this guy, how are you more worried about his pain than all the little girls he's hurt and will continue to hurt when he gets out of prison? I'm hoping you answer me.

      I'm so glad I found your comment. I was looking for this in particular. I totally agree with you here! I hadn't seen much of this show to begin with but what I did see... and Ik it's controversial to say this but sometimes I'd find myself feeling a little bad for the guys. That is until I stumbled on a RUclipsr called Dave's Lemonade. He puts up all the chat logs & videos and then analyzes the hell out of both the chats and the sting house videos.
      It was truly eye opening to read those chat logs and then see the original videos again, yet this time armed with a larger view of what brought these men to the house. I was in disbelief at what I was reading. Some people really are wolves in sheep's clothing.
      You're right. These guys are definitely not scared poor men... that is until they realise they'd been caught by the very trap they were so cautious to not walk into.
      I found it a little amusing that they'd ask the decoy to "swear you aren't a cop" or "swear it isn't a setup". Haha! What a strange question to ask. I mean, that's just illogical and generally speaking we should all follow our initial gut feeling and not walk into dangerous situations of any kind. However, having read the chats I had an overall sense of happiness that they managed to push through their fear and turned the volume down on their conscience enough to be caught.
      These same men should've and easily could've been champions for our youth. Upon hearing their age (some only 12 years old) they could've just said be careful and goodbye. Individually they wouldn't have put a stop to this type of crime against children but they could have made a difference and it would've set an example. I'm glad the transcripts are available.

      While I like the idea that children should remain children and keep their innocence as long as possible, not that long ago in human history was the age of consent MUCH lower. It was not considered immoral for a 14 year old to marry and start a family. Not condoning any behavior, but just pointing out some food for thought. What exactly is a predator, what makes it immoral, and are we simply indoctrinated that this is wrong or is it truly wrong?

The AMA has even stated it's an incurable condition. Oh and any sexual predator, be it of a child or not is welcome to off themselves any time they wish, trust me, we won't miss ya.
    2) It is not entrapment, the same way an officer offering to buy drugs from a dealer isn't. Your not suggesting they commit a crime, your just providing a scenario where they can choose to or not to and then acting accordingly.
    3) Criminals need to be exposed, if that drives ratings, I say great, because it just gives them incentive to keep exposing them.

      The main reason why it's not entrapment is because law enforcement doesn't interact with these people until they've already committed a crime.
      Perverted Justice operated with or without the police or the show. NBC, Perverted Justice, and the police operated in concert with one another for TCAP, but these were never instances of law enforcement enticing anyone to break the law. In the states the show operated in, it was illegal to solicit sex from a minor. These men committed a crime in the privacy of their own homes. Once they ended up on the doorstep of a person they thought was a child, they were basically digging a deeper grave. The police were merely there lying in wait.

    It’s easy to say the show was problematic in 2018 when almost every kid has a phone or tablet, but I think you also have to consider that the show debuted in 2004 during the first generation of young kids who were online and interacting with other people in chat rooms. I’m sure there were MANY people who had no idea how easy it was for their children to talk to complete strangers.

      I never defend pedophiles who act on their desires, but I have sympathy for some of them. They are mentally sick and they made horrible choices, they can be helped. Childhood upbringing and trauma might be a real factor in developing pedophilia in adulthood, including children who have been molested themselves. Nobody chooses what they're exposed to as children because they don't know any better and these unlucky ones (might have) happened to lack the protection every child needs at that period of their lives.
      So while I condemn child molesters, I don't completely lack the ability to understand their behaviors and sympathize with them. I do despise them for doing these things to innocent children but I don't think of them as non-redeemable, you could say. I simply dislike the notion of subjecting judgment and punishment on people irrespective of their past experiences and their ability to 'heal' and integrate normally in society. Give them a chance, and then pass judgment on them, not the other way around. It's this perpetual lack of empathy that makes this issue grow worse and worse with time because people see it in black and white. Kill all the pedophiles and the problem disappears right? Absolutely not. Society the way it is will keep making it harder and harder for these people to seek help and eventually become unable to control their impulses. Treat them like humans, and maybe they will feel like humans and stop acting like monsters.

      These people were preying on children, trying to orchestrate some sort of sexual situation with kids.

      Your analogy doesn't really work. The predator trolling method, to my knowledge, simply involves registering a profile on an adult website with a child's age... or going into chat and saying something to the effect of "i'm 13 lel"
      Which would more or less equate to said drug sting cop saying to a crowd "excuse me, sirs and madams, would any of you care to partake in some... drugs?"

They are attempting to commit a crime so despicable, so heinous that even other hardened criminals look down on them and have had a long history of killing them once they are thrown in prison. They are the scum of the earth, and deserve nothing but the harshest punishment possible under law. And honestly, who cares that Chris Hansen cheated on his wife? People cheat all the time. I'm not saying that it's a good thing to cheat on someone, but you certainly can't compare his misdeeds to those of the predators he was trying to catch. I'd watch a new series with him as the host any day.

      I understand your perspective, but it's kinda misguided. No matter the nature of a crime, all suspects are entitled to things like a fair trial, freedom from cruel and unusual punishment, and the position of being innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. And most importantly, that the investigation against them remain within the boundaries of due process.
      It's not meant to protect heinous criminals. It's meant to protect innocent people who are accused of being heinous criminals. Whereby, all suspects, regardless of the crime in question, are entitled to the equal treatment.

I don't think it justifies their behavior. We can't help what we are. You can't chose your thoughts before you think them. If child molesters are not put on trial then the full extent of their crimes cannot be thoroughly observed. I think the victims of sexual abuse deserve to be heard and THEN supported. Otherwise, you're looking beyond the victim and just releasing your anger out on the molester. Which has it's place, but don't think that simply doing so offers any help to those who suffer with experiences of childhood sexual abuse.
