    Saw them in 75, had tickets for 77 Little Rock, they were one stop away. Sad as sad gets seeing the front page news that day. Coolest guys ever. I started playing guitar and grew my hair out because of them. Still play, still have long hair, still sad.

I was working 2nd shift that night and was getting prepared to go buy the tickets for my friends and I the next day. After my shift I got in my car 11pm they were playing by free bird nothing new. The DJ came on and told about y plane crash, I was crushed. Yeah man I still have long hair and try to play guitar. FREEEEE BIIIRRRD!!!!!! Forever

    Artimus Pyle always has nothing but good things to say about Ronnie. That shows the character of a true class act that Artimus Pyle still is to this day.

    • @howabouthetruth2157
      @howabouthetruth2157 4 года назад +1

      Artimus is a bald faced liar. He says things & plays it up big for the cameras, but does something completely different. Gene Odom had to take his ass to federal court & testify on behalf of the Van Zant family long after the crash, because Artimus was trying to take the cut that was suppose to go to the Van Zant family.....in other words, Artimus Pyle was trying to STEAL the stocks of "his dead friend".......and Gene WON. Artimus also stated that the farmer ( Mr. Moat ) shot him in the shoulder as he approached him for help after the crash. ANOTHER BLATANT LIE. Mr. Moat came nowhere close to shooting his sorry ass, he fired his shotgun up in the air as a warning shot, nothing more. Then Artimus yelled "Plane crash"......and Mr. Moat then knew he must help them. I can go on & on about the lies & back stabbing antics of Artimus Pyle.........but you can research all of the rest for yourself.

      @@howabouthetruth2157 thank the Lord someone sees him for the liar he is! His latest is saying he alone went for help, when asked abt Ken Peden & Marc
      Franc being there, he says they weren't there! He has become a legend in his own mind & because he is good speaker people buy it.
      Artimus was with band less than 3 yrs, he makes it seem like he is RVZ best buddy. In Street Survivor movie,,his acct he says that they knew they were to crash, Ronnie gets up, walks back to Artimus seat, does the bro shake & says love you man.
      Ronnie was asleep on the floor. In another interview, he ckaims he got up & put Ronnie in a seat & put a pillow behind his head. He dishonors Ronnie, Dean, Steve & Cassie & all the guys in band, crew esp Ken & Mark who went for help with him! He goes around bashing Gary, Fary just wants money, Gary is a millionaire mamy times over, he does it because he loves it, he plays for the fans & to jeep the music alive.
      Artimus has a band & he makes money, he got pd for that movie. It is not ok for Gary to do as Lynyrd Skynyrd. He Allen, Bob & Larry were Lynyrd Skynyrd too.
      Gary has never claimed they are are the same band, Artimus claims they make people think you are gonna see original band. He is nuts! He said guys even dress & look like original guys.
      Anyone in this planet think Rickey Medlocke looks like Alken Collins? It really gets under my skin, people feel sorry that mean old Gary kicked him out, after all the lies he told & he is a registered sex offender, I wouldn't want him in my band !

    For that jerk in the beginning of this video to say that Ronnie Vanzant wanted to "Cash in on something" is total disrespect to every member of Lynrd Skynrd.... They didn't want to "Cash in" on anything. For them it was all about the music. Even if they never made it big there still would have been the band Lynrd Skynrd. The success and money was just a bonus for them. All this band wanted to do was write song and make music. Generally an interesting documentary with perspectives from former band members, and close associates of the band members. But it is completely missing any perspective from Gary Rossington. The lone founding member is still alive, and player of more than half of the original bands guitar solos which he still delivers in the current band. Granted, the current band is never going to be as good as the original band, but they still are a tough act to follow with great musicians playing those great songs, and Gary still delivering his solos. Without his input the documentary is incomplete, and suggests the producer had an agenda and perspective he wanted to portay. It really is puzzling to have a documentry as generally in depth as this but leave out any input fromGary Rossington.
