I hate to hear that he has died. He's the most well spoken and articulate survivor I think I've ever heard. Sadly most of the guys that are connected to Skynyrd sound lucky if they have so much as two brain cells to rub together because it's clear that life in the rock and roll world has taken a huge toll on them.

Interesting that his story of Ronnie getting up after getting a massage by Leslie and strapping in himself conflicts with Gene Odoms that he tried to wake him up because he was asleep and put him in the seat and buckled him in himself. He claims that Ronnie did the same thing Kens saying Cassie did, unstrapped and stood up right at impact. Gene claimed he did hit his head but died from being smothered because everything went forward on him. It's interesting how each account is similar yet different.
Gary said on the Skynyrd doc that Allen was between Cassie and Steve and Dean was right there with them as well. Yet in this Ken says Cassie was sitting with him.
Head injury's will do that. Bobby Allison still doesn't remember winning the 1978,1982,1988 Daytona 500. Because of the T bone wreak he was in at Pocono PA June of 1988.
Griff, can you put a rumor to rest, or confirm it is true? The aircraft ran out of fuel. But rumor has it that the band had to wait on the plane for a long time with the engines running (for air conditioning purposes) while they were waiting for Artimus to get back with something he was getting for the band members. It took him forever to get back. I'll bet if they would have taken off on time without any delays, they may not have crashed. Your thoughts? I wonder if Gene could speak on this?
I never heard that but I did read in a Skynyrd bio that the band waited for a half hour or more at the hotel for their limo or limos, but they never showed up. So they called 4 cabs, waited for them but not too long cause cabs always hang near hotels hoping for a fare to the airport. Anyway they stuffed the band, crew, all their luggage, etc, into 4 cabs & head for the airport. And that whole time, at LEAST 30-45 minutes more than they should've waited, the pilots are at the airport, expecting the band any second, so they had the plane idling with the a/c on so it'd be nice & cool when they got there. You can imagine how much gas the plane guzzled, even idling, 45 minutes w/ the a/c on a hot southern day...all they needed was a few more miles to reach the airport, so...still thete's no excuse for the gas thing, also they ran the right engine on super-rich setting since it was running rough, so the whole 2 & a half hour flight, or whatever, that guzzled lots more gas than they accounted for also. I know all that is accurate, idk if Mr Peden mentions it cause I typed this answer as soon as I saw your post. So anyway like most accidents, a dozen little things had to go wrong, if just one of those thing went right it may never have happened. My hope is that the guys & gals are together somewhere & maybe this is selfish but I'd like to think we can see them all play again some day when the time comes for all us Skynyrd fans to die too. Sounds kinda corny maybe but if god has his stuff together, who knows?

Find the interview on tube of Gene being interviewed by some guy. They are in a car at some monster truck event. Very telling.

That’s was a great interview! Seem like he had some good info about the crash and some of what he recalled about the crash I haven’t heard before.
I appreciate that he's not touting about how much he was friends with Ronnie this and Ronnie that. Seems like he was just there and that's all.

Such a terrible tragedy. One thing that bothers me is no one was able to sue the airline or charter company.
They knowingly boarded a plane with mechanical issues. This wasn’t exactly a Mensa group.
