    I never thought of using dish soap to clean my leather boots. Thanks for the tip! . Since I don't really wear my boots all that often because I WFH now. I just brush them off and use a damp rag .

      Just water and brushing can take you very far!

    You can clean you shoes any way you choose but I would ditch the dish soap and buy an inexpensive bar of glycerine saddle soap and a brush. I’ve been cleaning my shoes, boots and saddles with it since childhood and it’s perfect. For conditioning buy a small bottle of Lexoil. Your leather goods will last forever. 👍☮️🌞🌟🥾

      How about cleaning the boots with lexol leather cleaner?

    How did you sized them compared with other american boots, like PNW family: Nick's, White's to name a few?

    I literally just cleaned and conditioned my grant stone brass boot.

      @@AshlandLeather I know that the folks at grant stone love Venetian shoe cream, but I used cobbler choice leather cream since that’s what I had. I’m still letting them sit to take the cream in still, but they already look more hydrated. Can’t wait to wear them to work tomorrow.

    I love these boots..I have the brown CXL...the one thing that pissed me off is,i saw the Wyatt and Sons do.a.re-sole and Oakstreet actually put in some crap fiber board instead of cork or leather....my 200 Thursday Captains have cork...i found this to be a cheap ass move and they are currently at my local cobbler getting "fixed".....very surprising

    • @jamesfulmer7080
      @jamesfulmer7080 Год назад

      Are you talking about where they put a logger sole on? If so, I believe that is cork that comes in that format.

    Hi. Nice Video.
    Did the Tanner's Darken the Leather? Have you ever used Bick 4 Conditioner?

    • @AshlandLeather
      @AshlandLeather  Год назад +1

      The Tanner's Blend didn't seem to darken the natural CXL. I haven't tried Bick 4 but I have only heard GREAT things about it

    Random question. Do these boots have veg tan insoles or fiberboard?

  • @tonymoore2100
    @tonymoore2100 2 года назад +2

    I'm curious: if you wanted to get rid of that dark spot on the toe of the left boot, is there a way to do it?

    • @AshlandLeather
      @AshlandLeather  2 года назад +1

      The grain has been scraped off so it will never look exactly the same. I can fill it in with a waxy polish and it should cover it up -- especially with a colored polish

      @@AshlandLeather Ah, right. I ask because I have some Vibergs in this leather and I noticed a dark blotch similar to yours, although the leather isn't damaged otherwise. Any recommendations?

    Why use dish soap instead of saddle soap?

    • @AshlandLeather
      @AshlandLeather  2 года назад +1

      Saddle soap has a built in conditioner. Using this method I get more control over the strength of soap and the conditioner choice
