Tobias looking like an extra from Portlandia in this video! Great work!
Great video! Well done! I bought a pair of Oak Street's Field Boots, and while I think they are comfortable and good-looking, I have to say I am disappointed in their choice of foam instead of cork in the sole. I think I'd like to have the boots upgraded with a better sole now that I know what's in them. Oh well. Thanks again for the excellent video! Subbed!
I’ve heard that they may be using cork now. It does seem a bit overpriced for the build, but I really like the look.
@@BlueSpirit.i’m told they’re using celastic heel counters instead of veg tan as now as well. i tried asking them and i swear to god oak street customer service replied “We use stacked leather in the heel counters with a rubber cap.”
lol i’m all set on the brand honestly 500 bucks for this kinda nonsense idc where it’s made
nice job! I'm confident whoever is wearing those boots won't need to resole the boots again for at least a decade if not longer. Super nice!
Fantastic work, I'm really impressed! Keep the videos coming, they are very well put together!
Outstanding upgrade! These are real beauties🙌🏼
You did a nice job on the rebuild of these almost new appearing boots.
Beautiful! I love everything about it!
Beautiful job!
absolutely beautiful ! I need to send you some boots for resole.
Excellent job 👍🏾
I preferred the natural leather over the dyed. Looked super versatile now it’s dressy.
Very cool project!!
I really like the boot after you were done what would a boot done like that coast you
That dog makes my day! 😂
holy shit those are awesome.
Wow this is 🔥🔥🔥
I'm not a fan of the options chosen by the owner, but the craftsmanship is superb!
Hey Tobias! Dave Fanale here. Great video! I’m curious about the linen between the leather midsoles at 5:01. Does that serve the same purpose as wrapping the shank? Thanks!
It was used to help prevent squeaking between the two midsoles
I was wondering that too. Great question
The boots are ready to conquer the world.
❓❔In your opinion, how well do you think this boot was originally put together? Thanks! Beautiful boot! Ps. Does the extra leather mid-sole improve comfort when broken in?
Oak street boots are good quality boots. Yes, the midsole adds support and comfort.
2:40 smile for the camera
🤣 Goose is always on point
Oak streets factory video shows cork, but the only person I know with these had his insole seperate to reveal foam. I emailed the company about it and they denied the foam and insisted cork. I really wanted these too, this was all while I was waiting for mine to be delivered. When I finally got them they were all creased up like someone already thoroughly wore them around the house. Sold to me as factory firsts non the less. I returned them and was totally disappointed. Maybe this will change in the future but I don’t know.
That’s very disappointing
They used foam in the past but switched to cork.
@@EssenceofPureFlavor im interested in a pair of these, do you have any source for that information?
@@motherpanick Fullgrain Podcast, interview with the owner. Episode 20.
@@EssenceofPureFlavor thank you, their product pages also mention cork footbeds.
You should make yourself leather finger protectors instead of blue tape. 😎
You're out of Chicago? I looked your site up and it says NC. I would like to find a more local cobbler (I am in Chicago suburbs). Are you in Chicago or suburbs?
They are in NC and offer a "mail-in" service. I've sent my Iron rangers to them and they came back great!
Sorry, what I meant was that I come from Chicago. Moved to NC after school.
Why did you need to replace the welt?
The boots didn’t need new welts structurally. The customer wanted to change the welts for cosmetic reasons.
liked initial look better, It have something to do with rised toe I guess. and on finished boot is more straightned and looks strange
There is no cork in this boot? Is it just a fiber board?
Almost. There was that flattened out foam filler
That's wild. How is that not uncomfortable? No way that filmsy foam can support your foot.
It’s got just enough sponge to feel good in the store. Once weight is on it for a short time, it flattened out. The wearer just thinks that is part of breaking in the boots. Unfortunately, that is not the worst foam we see in boots and shoes.
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany Wow, bummed to see foam in $400-$500 boots. Reminds me of the first time I saw a goodyear welted Truman torn down and saw the foam there. I've got examples from both and the leather selection and craftsmanship is really good, just sad to see some of the other materials aren't up to the rest of the boot.
@@AdamBrinson unfortunately, we have seen it happened in high cowboy boots also. It’s sad.
Mother of God! 😳
I like how those boots came out! I just didn't like the logger heels
Yooooo....i have this same exact pair with cap toe and I'm very disappointed about that trash ass foam filler and not cork...no wonder they haven't gotten more comfortable lol....I'm heading to my cobbler ASAP....Weak Oakstreet Bootmakers....weak...i paid 488 for these....
These are not actually made in Chicago
how can a 500 dollar boot use foam filler
It’s always surprising to us too
Tooo much midsole for my taste.
It’s a lot of midsole! You have to be serious about a rigid boot to go double midsole.
