Gas pipes lead into much smaller villages in CZ. Even without gas pipes, connection of heat pump is possible, however during 2022 crisis prices went so high and remain quite high so many esp. elderly people cant afford it. In case of my 78yrs old fatherinlaw heating with heat pump costed almost 50% of his yearly income, now still over 25%, just electrity, no depreciation.

I find this style of Exploration very peaceful. Personally speaking it gives me hope and confidence that an Introvert like me can in fact become one travel vlogger sometime in the future . (I suppose you two to be introverts btw)
Thank you so much! We take that as a big compliment 😄 In all honesty, anyone can be a travel vlogger. Starting this channel was one of the best decisions we ever made ☺💛
I have to say that those are great videos that really satisfy my hunger for videos of foreigners visiting our country hehe, there is just a few videos on the YT with such a quality where someone explores even the countryside and such places, tries food, and even shops for groceries, thats like a heaven for me :D
Ooops. See, I don´t know the numbers, but most people everywhere here have some sort of gas based heating (or electricity-but it´s more expensive), central heating or boiler, wood is used rarely. Only as a cheaper or seasonal option, or in cottages meant for recreation only etc. As the main source of heating rarely.
I can't believe youtube just randomly recommended me a video of two foreigners visiting a village that's like 20 minutes away from my home :D I know I'm 2 years late, but here's some fun facts from a local: - Nový Hrozenkov is located in a region called Valašsko (Moravian Wallachia). Because it's located in Moravia (and Moravia has had beef with Bohemia for centuries), people here are very sensitive about being called Czech/Bohemian, because we are Moravians dammit! :D - the "sweet pizza-like pastry" is called a "frgál" and it's not a traditional Czech pastry but a traditional pastry from the Valašsko region. The one that tasted like rum was probably made with pear jam (hrušková povidla). Other typical flavours are poppy seeds, plum jam or cottage cheese. - Czechia doesn't really use all-purpose flour. Instead, we have 3 types divided by the coarseness. The one you showed in the video was the semi-coarse one, but to be fair this one is the most used type - in the mountainous/foresty regions of the country, it is very common to have venison on the menu in the local restaurants. Especially during the hunting season in autumn/winter. Lots of fallow deer and boar meat everywhere. We even have a ball season at the beginning of the year commemorating the end of the hunting season. It usually has a raffle and you can win stuff from household appliances to a whole boar

No, that is a pond. Almost every village has one as water reservoir for swimming, fishing (they are maintained by fishermen) and it was used by firefighters before cars with their own water cisterns. Ponds are mostly build by vilagers or their managers. Lakes are larger than ponds and usually made by flooding some area such as valley or old mine. They can be also natural.

That is a lake. A dam has walls.
They can be also natural.
you guys should give the game DayZ a go if you havent already. it is a very brutal open world survival based in czech (povrly region) with a very detailed recreation of the actual place.
nice video too :)
Wow! I've never heard of this game before and in all honesty neither of us are really gamers but it sounds interesting 🙌🏼 thanks for telling us about it :)
@@SarahandMarek its quite the work of art if i'm honest. if you do check it out, the location in the game is called chernarus. there are plenty of videos where people show side-by-side comparisons of the game with the real places :).
Do you guys speak czech? do u have to know the language to be able to go?
Hey there! We do not speak the language but managed to get by. It was rather tricky going to the restaurant and grocery store because there is not much English spoken but with Google translate we managed to get by and order and purchase the food that we were looking for. So in summary, no you do not need to know the language but having a basic understanding of a few phrases will go a long way :)
Are you both still in Czech ?
Unfortunately we've already left 🙈
@@SarahandMarek what a pity we ex knysna people and have a cottage we re building in the forest so would have been great to chat to fellow saffas

Koláč or Frgál is not Czech but Moravian
Was that the pastry we ate near the end of the video? That's so interesting, we had no idea
@@SarahandMarek Yes, "Valašký frgál" is local trademark for big sweetcakes of "pizza size" some come with quark, pear or plum "marmelade", or the poppyseeds.
Moravia is a part of Czechia,.
No dam nor lake. Its pond.

Czechia is the largest producer (35% of world production) and one of the largest consumers (10% of world consumption) of poppy seeds.
Its all so incredibly interesting! 😯 thank you for giving us a few more stats, i (Marek) love numbers so your comment really added a lot more value for me of the entire poppy seed world 😁🥳
@@SarahandMarek Well among legal producers, we cant compare to Iraq or Afghanistan.
