I love everybody’s enthusiasm and excitement. It’s what makes wildlife photography for me so much fun. The search, the find, the shot. Even if you don’t find what you are looking for there is always some other little surprise you didn’t expect. It’s not just the shot it’s the whole experience that keeps that adrenaline pumping. Thanks for another great video Scott.
I love the absolute joy and sense of elation that the three of you had! It was like watching three kids find their favorite thing in the whole wide world! What an absolutely beautiful setting! The underwater perspective of the otters and the jellyfish was particularly interesting. Is there something in the metadata that allows you to determine the distance from each subject?
Yes we have a blast when we all 3 can get out together. And we are a bunch of kids finding our favorite things 😂 To find the focal distance look in Lightroom under the metadata panel and open up the options and add focal distance.
Thank you so much! So happy you enjoyed this one. The three of us always laugh a lot and have so much fun out there in the field together. Thank you for the positive encouragement!🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
Wow. The enthusiasm you three exhibit is infectious. Watching this was like being there. Looks like you have fully recovered. So keep running those shutters.
I really needed this today! It’s delightful watching all 3 of you working together and supporting each other’s work. The camaraderie and excitement is infectious! Thanks for doing these and sharing these experiences. We need more positive content these days! Great work!
Thank you Kelly! Glad this is just what you needed and that it brought some joy into your world. We appreciate the support and encouragement. Thank you so much from all of us. 🫶🏼
Gotta love Sunday mornings and genuine love for the outdoors, nice shots ladies......and you too Scott !! Beautiful, especially the 5 yard feather. Simple in its presentation. Cheers, and thanks..............
Thanks. Heidi had a shot also that I forgot to put in of the feather and she got more environment on it. I may add it as a post with all 3 shots as its interesting to see how each person frames something they see.
Yeah, I will be adding that to the channel a lot more when we are near the coast. We always forget to include the underwater stuff or drop the cameras down as we get excited with all the otters and birds at times lol. Glad you enjoyed it.
I enjoyed this so much, thanks to the great attitudes of the 3 of you, and particularly to you, Scott for putting this together. I'm in north central WA, partial to kingfishers and river otters, so I particularly enjoyed seeing what you found in this video. Have a suggestion for you if you're still shooting the Canon 200-800, the steel tripod handle gets mighty cold, insulate it with a fry pan slip-on handle cover, secured with 1/2" bolt. Take care of yourself and run that shutter.
I absolutely loved this video! The underwater vid of the jellyfish was amazing, but the photographs were as well, especially the close-ups of the otters. Outstanding!
What a marvelous shooting day with Cassie & Heidi Scott !!! Last summer we were in Scot-land, and for some days we've been searching for Otters (while thinking about your earlier awesome Otter-videos !), but sadly we didn't spot any. We did have a day full of Puffins and Razorbills on the isle of Lunga.
Good morning Scott, I’m amazed at all the different species you’ve been able to photograph & video on your journeys. I’m in awe of the abundance of wild life you have in Alaska. Wishing you good health and fortune, I always look forward to your next outings and journeys no matter where they take you. Brian
Wonderful video! I especially enjoyed the underwater footage. May I ask what brand were the blue short rubber boots that you were wearing? I really liked them and I want to buy something like that but where I live such things are difficult to find.
My daughter is a Atmospheric Chemist she was a biology major before she switched over to chemistry she liked studying Jellyfish I i sent her a link to the video her response was awesome after she watched the video
Your making me jealous. We’ve got some kingfishers around here but they are extremely skittish. Every time I get close enough they take off. Maybe I’ll have to put some feathers on and blend in. Look forward to everyone of your videos.
My Experience with Kingfishers is that they usually have a fishing pattern of perches they like to hunt from. If I'm after them as my main target, I sometimes observe from a distance to figure out which ones they are going to. After I get a sense of that favorite couple perches, I will set uup either between them or close to the one that are not sitting at the time. One farthest away and get my listing right etc on that perch and cross my fingers lol.
Great video. Question for you - is April or May a good time to visit Anchorage? We’re thinking of spending a week or so just visiting parks in the Anchorage area. Thanks.
You really need to get the insta360 x4 I have two of the x3’s and love them for underwater videos I used them out in Dillingham Alaska and have the really long selfie stick and got really cool videos of the salmon running up the river out by the lakes and you never miss a shot because her filming 360°
Yes I thought about that but I have SOOOO many little cameras already lol....dji action pro, action 2, insta 360 go3s, pocket 3, couple GoPro's. Well I guess what's one more right 😂 But the 360 filming would be super nice for that otter encounter we had.

Thanks. We are usually pretty lucky living here in AK. But there are days where it's not so good.

Beautiful country. Thanks for sharing.

Great trip to Seward. Loved all the shots. What were you using for the underwater scenes? Those jellyfish were very cool!
Leilani from distant Florida
THANKS. DJI Action Pro 5. Very good action camera and superb low light.

Anytime is good. We are starting breakup of the ice and snow around d then, but its a good time for the early migratory birds also.
I love May and June. But like Scott said there truly is no bad time. Just each month provides different opportunities and experiences. 🫶🏼

Very nice shots!! (again :) )How do you get that distance information at the picture? Is that functionality on the camera?
EXIF data from the camera. Look under metadata info in Lightroom and add the focal distance for the options. its not on by default.
@@WILDALASKA Thx!! Got it.
What do you use for distance measuring? Nice captures
EXIF info on your camera. in Lightroom on your metadata panel when you are in the library choose the gear icon for options and select focal distance
Belted Kingfisher are so hard to get close to. I’ve tried multiple times and failed.
They are tricky
A range finder?
No it's in the EXIF info on your camera. in Lightroom on your metadata panel when you are in the library choose the gear icon for options and select focal distance
