Silver is the best conductor of electricity, better than copper and gold. 5G, Solar Panels, Electric Vehicle, all need SILVER! Silver price should be $150/oz or 1/10 gold price. KEEP STACKING BEFORE IT FORBIDDEN!!

It’s all about money for some people. I remember when Integrity and Helping People meant something and those are two values I was raised on, among others. Some dealers are out for the money and some take their time to educate and won’t rip off people. I prefer to deal with honest dealers and it’s sad but there are times where I too have been ripped off. Great Video Daniel and I wish I lived closer to your shop. That really applies to anything and everything you're selling.. I gave my sister a vintage Flying V Gibson guitar years ago that was worth around $700 or more used because she was struggling to pay rent.. She called me the next day saying that guitar was only worth $100 and he gave her $60 for it... What? No way... Yep!! Go up there the next day and they had it for sale for $900.. Crazy Mess for sure... All because she said that she didn't know how to play guitar and she didn't know anything about it... What a complete ass to do someone like that.. and the dude wouldn't even give her a little more money.. Lol He said because a deal is a deal and once the contract is written up he can't go in and change that.. I play in a band and I would buy what I needed from that guitar shop and I've never been back since.. I will drive way out of my way just to avoid him and his shop..

He said his secret weapon is being totally honest...to the point if he can direct a client to someone who can do the job for less money, he directs that client there. This has resulted in a lot of clients wanting him to do the work instead b/c his honesty makes for a trust they know will be sure. Its obvious you understand this same concept - it will carry you far. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

You know, Conrad Hilton used to do that. He's the guy who started the Hilton Hotel chain. If a customer showed up and there were no rooms available, the clerk would call other competing hotels and find a room for the customer. This promoted goodwill with the other owners and they would reciprocate for no charge. I guess the point is, not everything you do has to make a profit right this instant. Unfortunately few owners see it that way.

I once had someone bring me a collection for an appraisal. Turned out to be about $60 face in silver, all commons, with the exception of one 1938-D Walking Liberty in Fine condition. I gave them a spot price, and told them the value of the half. They thanked me for the appraisal, and offered me my choice of coins for the effort. I explained there was only one I'd be interested in, and she said "the half dollar? Take it.". I double checked to make sure she was sure and she handed it to me. Crazy what some people will do.

If you're selling coins to the dealer, keep in mind that he/she is not a charity and it is not here to resolve your financial issues. Don't be offended with the fact that dealer has to make a profit on the coins he buys from you. He also assumes financial risk of non-selling of the coins he purchased from you in some reasonable time. You get less money than average market price of your collection, but you get it - now! Dealer has to work, spend time and money in order to make a profit on your coins. If the coin can be sold tomorrow, profit is small... if the coin will be in shop, waiting for a customer for a long time, well, in that case, profit has to be large. Everything is math, like in any other business.

I sold Morgan’s to a dealer in Wilmington, NC. I knew very little and asked them to help pull the “commons”. I wanted to sell commons. On several I accepted 20-30% less than I should’ve. I won’t go back.
BUT, it was my responsibility to educate myself prior to selling. So I will except the lesson because I was not prepared. But it bugs me that people that may need the money a lot worse than I do, get ripped off by dealers like this.

@God sees all!!! Fees ARE ridiculous, but if you base your "buy it now" or "starting bid" to reflect those fees....you can still make quite a bit more than selling for spot at a coin shop. Even better is Craigs list, or Facebook market place. TONS of people scan Craigs list for silver.

Counterintuitively, this may be the place where you would get a decent price for selling. A dealer with fake coins in the case may be just naive enough to give you good prices so that he can run your genuine coins up for his "premiums." I think some numasticists just want to be out of the house.

If he's really selling counterfeit coins as genuine then you should contact the Secret Service so they can confiscate his coins. If he's selling counterfeit as counterfeit, you can still contact the Secret Service because counterfeit coins are illegal to own. They'll ask him a lot of questions and then take his stock.

You know, I've never said thanks for making these videos. I was a very avid coin collector in the 70s (yes, I'm that old) when I was a kid. My dad had a red book, and a blue book with words like "proof, fine, etc. and I had to match everything up with my grandmothers 2'x2' box-O-pennies she had been hoarding since, the 1930s? I still have it actually collecting dust. I haven't really bought anything other than silver last year about $20oz. and gave most of that to my nephew and son. Anyway, thanks for getting me interested in coins again and more importantly telling me what and what not to do. You never walk into a dark alley with pocket fulls of dollars, I certainly won't be walking into coin shops ignorant of even etiquette. So again, thanks.

I don't go back to those shops. I also tell anyone I know not to go to those shops. Word of mouth is very important when you aren't a volume dealer. My dad tells the story this way. He once had a farmer 1970's come down to the dealership (about an hour drive away) in his overalls. None of the other salesmen would talk to the farmer. He bought a car off my dad with cash from his overalls, and was very generous with a tip. There's a very important thing to consider in life. I like to say it two ways. 1. You never know what card you're going to draw from the deck. 2. You Never know if the toes you step on today are connected to the foot, leg, hip, and butt you will be kissing tomorrow. Most importantly, because someone isn't good with numbers doesn't mean they wont tell their family about the "Deal" you gave them who is very good with numbers. Quickest way to ruin your business imho.

Good evening sir Daniel ! I know this one was before I started actually looking at the coins values but it is a good video. You should repost it. A lot of us that don't know better would probably do just that. I wouldn't personally but I'm not your average bear. Good info !

One of the major problems I have as being a dealer is the collectors have coins that are nice xf -au and may greysheet for $10.00 to $25.00 but are almost impossible to resell and the public doesn't understand why we can only offer a couple of bucks for them. They honestly will sit in our shop for months. Bullioin and junk silver is easy to get rid of but like most dealers we put high grade common franklins and merc's in our junk bags. We pay scrap and sell them as scrap.

We card and sell them, and the low grade commons we just sell as constitutional. Yeah, can't pay too much for raw and common coins.

I was wondering how illiquidity would affect the prices dealers pay. I noticed on another coin themed RUclips channel that a guy was randomly buying eBay coin grab bags, and checking to see if he got a good deal. One coin shop did pretty well with it, giving a pretty good deal of stuff obviously no one would have on their list, but would be a pleasant surprise to a young coin collector. (It would seem to be this particular shop's solution to miscellany that wouldn't sell quickly but still resulted in happy customers.)

Beth Coddington Me too. But since I don’t live near him I feel pretty close being a subscriber and that new collector who might have otherwise walked in to see a coin dealer an did what he just warned not to do.

My sister sold our grandmas 1889CC Morgan around spot price in Seattle I didn’t know much about grading coins then but it had all the hair lines in libertys hair and feathers on the eagle with some toning on the obv. I had told her to never sell to a coin shop she didn’t know anything about Coins and she thought that was the place to go…

So I rescently inherited my grandfather coin collection, I decided to sell it so I could purchase coins I wanted. The first guy I went to literally just pulled up the prices on his phone and showed us and said he took a percentage off of that. Very transparent even though I just had a very rough idea of price

Unfortunately Daniel that's exactly what I do when I go to my local coin shop I usually walk it and say I know nothing about coins . I usually have a stack of coins some common date some rare and say what would you give me for these if the guy says which is usual I'll give you melt or I'll give you a little less than melt cuz that's what I'll make and I have to make something to obviously I know what I'm dealing with but most guys are pretty honest I would agree with you most coin collectors / dealers for the most part are an honest bunch !!and you can't let a few bad apples spoil that

There is one thing not to do anytime you go to sell anything, Don't go into the business looking hungry. That is a dead give away. Just go in and see what the best offer is. If your happy with that number well it is your option to accept that offer.

The coin dealer in my town was offering 15 CENTS A GRAM as his BUY price for 90% Silver when the spot price was in the low 30's back in 2011.
I said "But that's LESS than $5.00 an ounce.
He looked at me like SO WHAT
I RAN, not walked out of his store (never to return).
I think the last time I drove past his place he was out of business. HUH Go Figure...
Some coin dealers are only slightly better than used car dealers.
It's a shame really and definitely is another reason the hobby is suffering. IMHO
