Finley's non payment of Monte's medical insurance premiums is consistent with his reputation as an SOB. Monte didn't get his hospital bills paid until Finley received negative publicity. This type of behavior caused Finley to lose the services of a hall of fame pitcher, Catfish Hunter, when he failed to make payments to an insurance annuity which were required to be paid under his contract. When Finley tried to make amends, it was too late, Hunter filed a grievance, became a free agent, and signed with the Yankees.
