    From ear and yet still more faithful to the original movie score than the official soundtrack cover. Perhaps it is your attention to the filters and envelope shaping a movie soundtrack requires to sound good in most theatres.

    • @juliancroot
      @juliancroot  Год назад

      Thank you. 👍 Since this is an orchestral piece there's no envelope shaping or filtering... It's just layering orchestral sounds and playing (I think) the right notes on the right instruments.

    Did You use score sheets for this or You did it by ear? One of my favorite movie soundtrack!

    • @juliancroot
      @juliancroot  9 месяцев назад +1

      No sheets. All completely by ear.
      As a young music student I was always very slow at sight reading music for the piano, so I often passed exams by listening to my teacher playing a piece and imitating it.
      I can read music, I'm just much quicker figuring things out by ear.

      @Julian Croot your work has inspired me, particularly with orchestral scores. I was always a fan of 80's, synth, movie scores, etc and I recently purchased an orchestral VST after watching your videos and having great fun with it (after i got it working eventually). Finally completed my Vangelis Chariots of Fire, just to do a video for it but feel like I'm getting there lol.

    It's a shame you don't comment on your soundtracks to help those who are starting out in production and are at the beginning of their careers to get a little further. What you show there is again the hammer how you do it. Unfortunately in fast forward😉

      I occasionally do livestreams where people ask me questions directly.
      I've also put a few videos up showing some aspects of my approach... but I'm careful not to state it's THE way to do it
      The biggest thing is listening experience...i.e. making stuff that sounds bad and learning from it.
