Bias towards ethnic prosody is not equivalent to bias against "race." [ps. there is no such thing as the Chinese race. There is the Han ethnicity but China is extremely diverse in ancestry] 3. The inconsistency of subtitles could be due to chance. Did you run the statistics for it? The “treatment” she was talking about with shocking yourself with a rod when you have homosexual thoughts is based on the Pavlovian response. It does not make a person straight but eventually it conditions them to feel fear/ pain when they have those thoughts- even without shocking themselves. some of the old generation people in china, you can called them traditional people. but i call it small mind/close mind with narrow thinking. they think that, because their whole life, environment and some educate or stuff pass down by their elderly is boy and girl so the whole world is around that same basics. once i talk to someone online in china, told her that what gay is and gay marry to straight women just to cover their true identity. she said "you are sick" than i told her "don't be blind, there is lot gay in china, more than you think", she reply "wow, you are so open mind, are you gay?"..........that conversion end it right here. they are so blind and they are not even that old (she is pretty young around 28) and don't believed anything outside their owe small mind knowledge.
I have seen on Chinese Quora a gay question to which thousands of people responded. And to my surprise, people are overwhelmingly supportive of gay rights, many of them even claim to be gays/lesbians themselves. I guess that most of those who oppose to it really never paid attention to the issue.

Of course, equal rights are a problem in many other places in the world, including other Asian countries like Korea and Japan but this story just wants to showcase the treatment of gay people and the progress of acceptance and love

The “treatment” she was talking about with shocking yourself with a rod when you have homosexual thoughts is based on the Pavlovian response. It does not make a person straight but eventually it conditions them to feel fear/ pain when they have those thoughts- even without shocking themselves. It’s a horribly abusive form of fear conditioning
