Robert hasn't wasted his life in front of the TV/computer, he's got out there and lived, lucky for us. I admire his good sense to accomplish one project, then move on to the next and not play the same gig forever. I see Robert as the very essence of his song Ramble On, mixed with kindness and humility.
Yeah, moving on isn't playing the same songs with a different line up. His albums are for the sake of making albums, but his shows (the ones that pay the bills anyway) are mostly LZ. So there's moving on, then there's saying one thing whilst doing another.
@SEZWAH- Robert's his own man. Liking his albums is a matter of opinion so there's no point in arguing over that, but no one from Zeppelin is broke. If Jimmy's bitchy about not being able to relive his past glories, then so be it. Its a real tragedy he doesn't apply his talents elsewhere but you know what? That's not Robert's fault. Robert rearranges zep songs, some I scratch my head at while others are outright brilliant. As for his solo songs, I love his latter day lyrics and I think the instrumentation is always interesting.
@SEZWAH- I meant the poignancy of his lyrics a la mighty rearranger or lullaby and the Ceaseless Roar. I love every record he's ever put, from Pictures at Eleven to Shaken and Stirred, Now and Zen... etc. They were all great bands in the evolution of Plant as a bandleader and singer. As a more mature songwriter these days, his lyrics hit home because there's great wit and perspective that go with them. As for leaving Zeppelin hanging, fuck it, it's over. Bonham died in 1980, that was the end of anything more than a show here or there.
@SEZWAH- There's no point in going forward. Bonzo is gone, and has been for 32 years. He was integral to the band, and to go and tour and play the hits like some geriatric glory seekers is shameful. If nothing new is being added, leave it. The 02 was a great reunion, it honored the spirit and music of Led Zeppelin, and Jason Bonham played great. But what's done is done.
Robert and the rest of Zep re-united on the 10th of December 2007 for a full concert. The band, including John Bonhams son Jason on drums, wanted to continue, but RP didn't! Kudos to him! He knew that it wouldn't be the same, it would kill the "legend" and it just wouldn't be quite the same. LZ (Lesser Zeppelin) were even trying to replace him...). Plant moved on as he always does, and he deserves all the respect he can get for that! Definately not a man "just in it for the money":-) Respect!
Nice to see him again I haven't seen or heard anything new from him in a very long time...Interesting interview, he has a lot to say. Great to catch up with a man of many words a great conversationalist to me that means that he has been living a good and clean life and he still has a great mind and talent to go with it II am looking forward to seeing him play again soon perhaps somewhere here in the United States while on tour
Yes Robert, "You Better Run" I was the receptionist at Astra, the agency that looked after The 'NBetweens and Listen....(was The 'NBetweens fan club secretary too) I remember that day...I also remember having to phone you and Roger on a Friday morning to get you out of bed to come and collect your money...Happy days, happy memories!
Well I met him outside a tv studio in Holland in 1993. He had performed 29 Palms for a show called Countdown (the Dutch equivalent of Top of the Pops). I waited a while and when he came out of the venue, he really took the time to chat with me. So I can vouch for the fact that he IS a humble and pleasant guy, not just in a studio but also to his fans. Even on the rainy streets of Bussum, The Netherlands. (Some years later I met Jimmy Page at Roy Harpers' birthday-gig. He's even more humble!)
The absolute best ever! God has blessed you. I always go back to my favorite Vocalist Robert Plant ,What fantastic brilliant man, vocals.I copy and have learned so much from you.I can sing some of his music. He has helped me develope .I'm a singing Drummer coming forward up front, The Band of Joy can't get enough!I have so much respect for you.You and John Bon. what a team,John Bon. Also the Man Killer Drumming.Led Zepplin And Page. I'm learning Mandolin now. Thank you So Much. LDTDRUMS,Katy Texas
Thank God Robert Plant is not only a genius, a sexy beast, and all the rest, but he's freaking HILARIOUS!! And by the way, Band of Joy, his latest record, is SUBLIME! Might be the best thing he's ever done, not only since Zeppelin, but just plain EVER! My faith in the universe is restored. The was no resurrecting the Zep.. All is as it should be, and better than I ever thought it could be!
@chromezeppelin I met Robert in England when I was on holidays in some local pub in the Black Country from where Robert Plant grew up! My advice to any Zep fan that has the opportunity to meet Robert Plant, if you have a knowledge & passion for Football he will talk to you all night!! Plant loves his Football, he would even talk the tactics about the a game. The football club Plant loves & supports is Wolverhampton Wolves. He attends most of games that is if he's not touring.
I can certainly understand why a 65 yr old man would feel silly yelling ' squeeeeeeeeeeze my lemmmonnn ' and prancing around with his unit showing . The man has his dignity .
Hailing from the West Midlands myself (my nan knew Noddy Holder's mom apparently), hats off to Mr Plant's perceptiveness. Not only one day did Wolves get to play in Europe, but post covid, Alison and Percy have hooked up again. Lets hope the new album is as good as the first collaboration raising sands. and up to the standard of his ever engaging and erudite banter. And fortunately as a fellow Liverpool supporter things also got better from 2010 times.
all these people that accuse Plant of being a self absorbed prat cos he wont tour with Zep should watch this interview. down to Earth and unassuming and full of fun. why would you want to join the circus and do what you did 30 years ago when you can have as much fun and make some great music as he still is? Good on him
Robert seems to have met and known so many in the music buisness. I could listen to his stories all day. Such a great sense of humour. Always makes me laugh. Georgeous guy...still as sexy as ever Planty.❤😭
In another interview I heard him say that T.Bone, who was sort of their facilitator, didn't come up with any more suitable songs for them. I've also heard Alison Krauss talk about how worried she was about getting their project right. It was clearly a risk as far as she was concerned and out of her comfort zone. Though it seemed to work perhaps she wasn't up for taking more risks. I've certainly Robert say he was keen to continue at the time.
When you consider that Robert Plant and Noddy Holder look quite alike, you realise they could well be related. And that means there could be a family called the Plant-Holders somewhere in the West Mids.
Quite funny to think his Roadie went on to lead the most successful British band of the 1970s scoring 6 no.1s and selling 50 million records across Europe
@Suzep1 sO true , he is charming & so witty, listen to him talk about elvis on letterman ,he almost started to tear up/cas they said they would all see each other again /but we all know it never happend !
Thank You Robert Plant!!! 5 living people I'd like to have dinner with: Robert Plant, Steve Martin, Sonny Rollins, Iggy Pop, Pricilla Presley. One at a time. All together and my head would explode.
@dmh497 You can´t find anything if you play that Song backwards. I know, because I´ve tried. There´s nothing there. We never made a pact with the Devil. The only deal I think we ever made was with some of the girls High Shools in San Fernando Valley Robert Plant on Stairway to Heaven, Q magazine, 1988
No pact ! HOWEVER ! it IS clearly there! & he HAS heard it ! in 1984 ! For sure! Long after Zeppelin when “FIRST”it was discovered i believe. It really botherd him , he said he walked ina daze that whole day , confused & upset ! Said he wrote the lyrics with such true & POSITIVE intent!
Sorry I forgot you yanks refer to Football as 'Soccer' in the US. Have you been to or watched on TV a English Premier League match? The atmosphere is amazing & the songs the supporters sing are awesome! They even use Beatle songs & folk songs, put their own words to it & sing. Oh they sing LOUD!! Just a little update, Robert Plant's football team got relegated from the top league last season. Bummer!
Soccer was originally known as “association football.” Newspapers seeking a shorter phrase began to refer to it as “assoc.” That name was soon shortened to “soc” and then grew back a bit to “soccer.” The terms are pretty interchangeable, just depends on geography and the related lingo/colloquialisms.
What a fab story teller & full of fun & still gorge. Pride in the name of love" I'd date him in a heartbeat being 1/2 Brit so I get plenty of the humour but the football which sorry I know zilch about.I know ppl that want Zep to go on forever aren't realistic. Ppl age, even Plant still sexy af,but I agree the lemon song @ 65 is too much,AWKWARD!!!! I mean,I heard he does some Zep songs in concerts......he's so down to earth & polite!!! Love u Robert
As far as musical productivity, he and Jimmy are polar opposites. Robert is almost always involved with some project where Jimmy seems to be resting on his laurels publishing books honoring himself.
You guys!!!! The oxbones fell off of my ukulele!!!!! Maybe I get a mannerless miracle, something rude, hard and fast? Doesn't knock, just storms in....no manners!!
Gee, Robert, you`re were wrong! The N`Betweens used to hit the No. 1 Spot in your local area ..case your mind back... :"It's Slade" documentary 1999 - Part One
I see here the one member of the group we all know and love who enjoys gumming up the works on a one time tour of the world. hes got a big voice and a big ego. jimmy john paul and Jason plus all the fans were on board one year of your life aint much is it ??????
Robert is so youthful in his spirit and energy. I really enjoy listening to him.
Robert is a gorgeous man, inside and out! He's a great weathered wizard... LOVE HIM!!

Intelligent man and modest; from a great era of music and personalities. You get the feeling that these times are long gone and it's very sad.

Love love love Robert Plant
Cindy P He's kind of amazing isn't he. One of the few legends still around!
*****
You follow me on Twitter :)
I have a friend who looks exactly like Robert did when he was young, and his dad looks exactly like Robert now. It's uncanny.
Great interview! I've always been a big fan of Robert Plant, especially during the Led Zeppelin era!
Geoff does a great interview. Robert is still so alive. I love it!
What a Nice Guy

He still has such gorgeous hair! I don't know if he's had "help," but you certainly can't tell! He's follicly gifted, along with everything else!
Rock stars implants galore a balding robert plant wouldn't be really accepted
I think it's natural hair because it looks the same as when he was young but he's gone grey now so the 'enhancement' has been to dye it blonde.
@@heliotropezzz333 its his natural hair. Hes just lost a lot of it. His hair use to be so thick and bouncing but i guess age got to it.
@@Cactusfruitsquisher was your reply really intended for me? I did say it was his natural hair.
@@heliotropezzz333 sorry I clicked the wrong one
Funny - extremely talented - GORGEOUS - what a man!
I love his humbleness, reminds me of Niel Peart in that sense , just so I cool to see!!!
Seems like such a nice man...wish he was my friend.
He is absolutely vivacious!
so r u Grrrrrrr!
What a wonderful modest guy!
Robert Plant is a sweetheart ! ❤

Such a lovely guy.

@Jody Dube haha . Noddy has a powerful delivery . He's a different breed of cat , like Plant. Not many can do what those guys could do
Led Zeppelin were the real fab 4,been to a lot of concerts and Zepp was the greatest. Each one of them were great not just one.

Absolute Robert
The man to be loved
XxXxX Plant Beautiful interview so funny lol X
I have th biggest crush on you, Robert. The. Biggest. Crush. ❤😏❤
We ALL do!!!
I am a Coverdale, Plant and Gillan fan. 3 British gods
1:02 I love how he holds his two fingers the same way he did in the song remains the same movie !
all these people that accuse Plant of being a self absorbed prat cos he wont tour with Zep should watch this interview. down to Earth and unassuming and full of fun. why would you want to join the circus and do what you did 30 years ago when you can have as much fun and make some great music as he still is? A lovely man, oozes charisma a gentleman x
Robert is as passionate about football as he is about music! :)
Robert and Noddy.... two ideal guests for any show. Get them both together Geoff for a chat and a reminisce. Oh the fun, oh the tales they could tell.
Robert seems to have met and known so many in the music buisness. I could listen to his stories all day. Such a great sense of humour. Always makes me laugh. Georgeous guy...still as sexy as ever Planty.❤😭
I love him ❤❤
RP - what a funny fella
He's a pretty big guy. Of course he doesn't look it now, but he's still like 6 feet tall.
I love you, Robert! Will you be my muse?
A Noddy Holder reference. Very cool.
Interesting to hear Robert say that he tried to record some more stuff with Alison, but the magic wasn't there anymore.
In another interview I heard him say that T.Bone, who was sort of their facilitator, didn't come up with any more suitable songs for them. I've also heard Alison Krauss talk about how worried she was about getting their project right. It was clearly a risk as far as she was concerned and out of her comfort zone. And now we have raise the roof I believe it’s 14 years later
I remember Noddy Holder from the group Slade.
ROCK GOD
What a beautiful man
I used to go to the Cosmo in Carlisle. That takes me back. It was a great club, now a bloody car park.
noddy please come back we miss you
Yeah, 'Band of horses', he mentioned them, I love that band!
Make a tour all around the world !! come on !!
@Wisconsin222 Two great songs! I saw them in 2011, great band too.
i feel so disconnected from them. but it is a great conversation
I had the craziest dream about this artist...he had on a cowboy hat and an Aerosmith shirt....😂😂😂...he was PLANTing trees
When you consider that Robert Plant and Noddy Holder look quite alike, you realise they could well be related. And that means there could be a family called the Plant-Holders somewhere in the West Mids.
Wow Roberts accent is very heavy in this interview in the UK... More than I've ever heard on any US interview?
Quite funny to think his Roadie went on to lead the most successful British band of the 1970s scoring 6 no.1s and selling 50 million records across Europe
I thank you. :)
2:51 is he on about Kirkcaldy in Scotland?
That's funny lol, "The Plant-Holders."
Robert plant
I hope everyone knows of "No Quarter Unledded The Truth Explodes".
