    Francis please!
    Don't use pitcher pumps for the right side of the magma.
    just raise the setup by one tile and the magma will flow from the right to the left so your pump can pupm it out.

    • @michaelsotomayor5001
      @michaelsotomayor5001 3 года назад +8

      That would work well for a lot of the magma but unfortunately the viscosity won't allow all of it to be pumped out, at least I don't think so. He would ultimately have to use pitcher pumps to transport the remaining magma. But you're right.. he should've gone that route xD good catch!

      @EskoLuontola 3 года назад +4

      After the magma pressure has gone down, you could make a hole at the top and pump the lava from above. You would need to lower down the pump when the magma level drops, but it would also allow using multiple pumps.

    • @FrancisJohnYT
      @FrancisJohnYT  3 года назад +9

      The problem is magma viscosity. I mean if you look at the setup now the magma is not pushing up out of the bottom of the spike despite the pressure, it will be the same the other side. I did some playing around on a test map and could not figure out how to get it to work on the right, wait can you rotate pumps?

    Radbolt engine will be nerf in the next update, range lowered from 24 to 20, max radbolt capacity from 4800 to 4000, also, all rocket will consume 1 hexagon when launch and landing. but petroleum and hydrogen engine will get a buff of range 6 --> 9 and 9 --> 16 respectively. This nerf to Radbolt engines, will make more difficult get radbolts on early game.
    Also, they will add a broadcast transmitter, to send logic signal to another asteroid (and spacefarer), but only have 5 hexagon of range on star map. don't know if the range will be the same in asteroids.

  • @deilusi

    13:30 I recommend connecting yourself to the output of steam pump instead of opening the box and using bottle emptiers.
    I do that in 2 ways, either have water storage above the drop point and deconstruct it so bottled water goes inside, and just a tiny amount goes through the pipe to heat up that bottle. I personally keep tons of steam in place, hot enough that if they turn to water, it will over pressurize and explode the box, but while it's a gas, it makes temperature absurdly stable and easy to control.
    Such tiny ammounts of steam, the best way to deal with them is cold temp shift plate, and water pump.
    anything that exchange heat can stop them, so random plate and insulated tiles at bottom can stop that from spreading.
    to pump right side, use 3 door automation to move magma to left side, and move whole thing 1 tile higher.
    IMHO overbuilt, you have niobium and tungsten at this point, make thermium pump and submerge it in magma.

  • @michaelsotomayor5001
    @michaelsotomayor5001 3 года назад +22

    Damn Francis I feel this video you wanted to showcase what happens in these situations so other players can learn lol. There are other methods to pump magma but the easiest in my opinion is the same way you filter out oxygen in your rocket spacefarer module. Prime a small amount of visco gel into a Liquid Valve. This way it pops out the magma while constantly dropping visco on the liquid pump. Also 34:54 idk if you noticed but if you completely drain all the water on the water planet, Oxygen will escape through the airflow tiles.

    • @EskoLuontola
      @EskoLuontola 3 года назад +7

      Might be good to put an alarm on the water planet, to remind about replacing the airflow tiles with regular tiles when the water pressure is low enough.

    • @FrancisJohnYT
      @FrancisJohnYT  3 года назад +7

      Though about the powerless filter but if 10kg of visco gel goes by 1g will escape. So you would need two filters to be sure. I decided to bite the bullet and pay the power to ensure nothing went wrong. I'll worry about the water planet later, when the water gets low enough I want to put a diamond roof on the place.

    • @traister101
      @traister101 2 года назад

      @@FrancisJohnYTIf you properly make a mechanical filter (ie counter flow) the 1g left from a full packet will get grabbed by the next 1g packet in the filter loop. Over time this will slowly grow in size but you'd need to maintain more than even 90% saturation on the line so it's not even remotely a concern for this system.

    You could avoid the heat loss on the pumped magma by using radiant pipe instead of insulated once you're past your cooling loop. The radiant will very quickly equalise its temp and cant transfer any heat away while it's in a vacuum.

    • @FrancisJohnYT
      @FrancisJohnYT  3 года назад

      That's a good plan but you do have to prep it by limiting the early magma to 1kg to stop it breaking in the pipes. Their was a suggestion to limit the rockets second storage to a few hundred kg below max. Then when the rocket is full turn off the pump and increase the storage again to clear the pipes.

    Niobum volcanoes spew out ridiculous amounts of niobum per second. I think it's faster than 5kg/s. It only erupts every 10 days, so just make sure you have a large enough buffer. Also it's less viscous than magma, so you cant use the normal blade technique you use with magma cause the pressure will push it up into the tile where the pump is.
    Just be careful, or you might end up with rock gas all over the place. I totally heard that from a friend and didnt experience anything like that myself :)

      While I can't say that Francis John doesn't use any exploits, (powerless gas filter trick in hab rockets, lava pump, diagonal build, diagonal radbolt etc.) he does tend to keep it to a minimum. Rocket space being limited can make the game more fun as something to design around, so I don't think he ever would use an exploit to sidestep something like that.

    @12:38 actually the emergency prio isn't the way to do that... best is to pause, tell the eng to "move to", same place (it interrupts the task - in this case building the plate), cancel the insultate tile, reissue the same command, prio 9 on the insulated tile, unpause. The engineer starts buidling the tile.
    The emergency prio grabs one dup - possibly the worse with 0 construction attrib - possibly at the other side of the base or inside a rocket.
    Also why not use steam as the gas to cool down the viscogel?

    • @Genesis8934
      @Genesis8934 3 года назад +2

      True, but I think he's working with all of his high-construction dupes since that was the goal with the rocket interior design. All of the dupes on the magma planet have good construction already.

      @michaelsotomayor5001 3 года назад +2

      Steam is fine as a coolant but 1kg/tile and that pipe was about what a total of 100kg? that's just 10 pipe sections of water.. I guess he could've just done that but the steam in the ambient area I don't think was enough to fill 1kg throughout the entire pipe section. Also yeah, the 10 priority is very weird... it does have to bring materials to build it so that makes it even harder. But you're right for real emergencies I use 9 lol. Actually you know what works WELL but NO ONE uses? The emergency button near the speed controls.. that ! box.. you click that and the dupes do what they do but forced. Maybe a 9 priority with that button will make it smoother.

    • @FrancisJohnYT
      @FrancisJohnYT  3 года назад

      My first instinct was to use the steam to fill the cooling loop but then I realized that long sections of the pipe were well below 100C and not insulated. So if I dumped the steam into it the steam would end up liquifying in the pipes and breaking them. If we were willing to repair the damage we most likely could have gotten it to work eventually.

    • @TheMule71
      @TheMule71 3 года назад +1

      @@FrancisJohnYT Well, you literally ended up pumping grams of steam anyway. Under 100g breaking isn't a problem. You could have gotten rid of the steam and pre-heated the pipe in one go, just by using a valve. Or at least that was my 1st instict. :) Anyway, glad it turned out well.

    • @TheMule71
      @TheMule71 3 года назад

      @@michaelsotomayor5001 The problem with emergency priorities is that they select the 1st available dup which is not the best idea. It's always better the you choose the dup. With move you stop the task they are doing (this way they are free as soon as you unpause), prio 9 makes sure they perform the task.

You probably won't want to do that though, given the estimated 96000 individual cooking jobs unless you want to print up a dedicated chef crew. At your present rate of bristleberry growth, the total time it would take to completely drain the ocean is estimated to be 367 cycles which you are already some cycles into. This is based on an assumed average water mass of 1200 KG per tile.

      It seems like the exuberant crops in your base are ridiculously more efficient in terms of raw production. I don't know if there are any pips on the resource patches on the space maps, but if there aren't any then there's no option to do wild farming for extra tree feed unless you start on a forest map or one of the spaced out maps. Even if wild farming isn't an option... that's a lot of geysers in your maps overall.

    Welcome back.
    I'd ask if you shopped for GPUs while on holiday, but we both know the answer.
    Also, most of the Americans in your audience are confused by this "vacation," concept. Those who aren't take their vacation, generally, between Thanksgiving (end of November) and New Year's. Basically, work 11 months, take one off. But better than half of that is spent dealing with family holidays and prepping for the return to their normal drudgery (assuming their contract doesn't end during that period.)
    I know people who haven't had a vacation since the 1980s. They're not workaholics, they'll just get put on their org's shit list if they take any time off (or they work somewhere that doesn't offer vacation days at all, of which the latter seems most common.)
    To share along with your note about customs difficulties, yesterday I had a librarian at a research facility try to have me arrested/expelled by what was likely federal officers. Everything went well enough in the end (wasn't expelled, wasn't arrested) but I imagine you had the easier time.

    I dont really get why you do that double liquid bridge thingy. You can just put one bridge onto an existing line and puit the sensor on the pipe egment in the middle of the bridge. liquids will allways flow through the bridge first, so as soon as that backs up it will flow past the bridge and hit the sensor. You then get your automation signal. once the pipe is cleared again it will just flow out first thing because it will have priority over the bridge. It doesnt really save place or ressources but it looks way less messy and is easier to understand for newer people than using double bridges
