Graham, thank you so much for this series. I've had my Lumix for over a year but have only used it to point-and-shoot. But now I've just retired, rather later than most. I want a hobby, but I'm a long-in-the-tooth technophobe, so I need all the help I can get. It's like learning a new language. I don't know what I would do without your videos. I cut my photographiic teeth on a box brownie.
Thank you Graham for teaching me how to use this camera and for a proper introduction to the photography world. I watched all of your previous playlist of tutorials about this one and I'm glad you dedicated time for other people. Excellent teacher!
Dear Graham, One of our neighbors has recently bought a FZ82, she has no background in photography. So I decided to give her a few general basic notions and then to add the specific caracteristics of that bridge. I started to visualise your videos and I bought your book. Thanks for your pedagogical ability, you enjoy sharing your knowledge, thanks for your generosity and the work behind. My "pupil" is progressing quickly and we have fun in discovering funny features of the camera.
Thank you so much for the introduction to Lumix FZ82. As an absolute beginner I appreciate the time you have given to share your knowledge to us starters. I have learnt more from you than reading the manual, which didnt make sense to me. looking forward to my 'next lesson'
Many thanks for this tutorial series Graham. I've owned this camera for a couple of years now and already in your first 2 videos I've learned so much more about this camera. I so appreciate your tutorials for the FZ 82. Cheers and many thanks. Looking forward to the rest of the series. 👍
I have had this camera for over a year and really did not how to use it. This video was very helpful. I have been able to get some decent pictures of wildlife, ducks, herons etc. I will continue to watch your videos so I can learn about the camera and know what I am doing and what everything means. Thank you so much!
Thank you very much for making this video. I learned a lot about how to use my Panasonic. Very well done. It's great to be able to see the viewing screen as you make changes and then the results of those changes. I am looking forward to your next video!
I´ve had my camera for one week, and your videos are just what I need. Just watching this first one has given me a lot of confidence. For me, the pace and jargon are perfect. I stop/start, write and practice. Looking forward to part two. Thanks, Graham.
took a long enough break to forget how to use my camera. Went to rewatch your tutorials from before only to find these updated ones that are even better!!
Came across your channel by chance today whilst searching for this camera's online manual. Thank you so much for putting these videos together. I've had the camera since last summer but haven't really got my head round a lot of its features yet. As a complete beginner your content is really helpful.
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. I have had this camera for a while but never really grasped all the different features of it. I am going to learn so much more about it. Looking forward to the rest of the series, and to getting better photographs in the future.
I bought a second FZ80 and I couldn't get it to focus any better than the first one.. so I pulled the plug and sold them both. I am now looking for a good FZ70 which I had before and really liked. I was somewhat satisfied with my FZ80 until I got a Sony HX400V. The Sony has a lesser spec-sheet, but it just works better. I thank you, Graham, for all your videos and help you provide to the community. I have benefited greatly. The info you provide is basic and applicable to most other bridge cameras. Menus and some features will vary, but the techniques are the same.
Hello, I am an absolute beginner. This is an Excellent training video. This was very helpful. Your instructions and explanations are very clear and very helpful.
Thanks, Graham, I found that extremely useful. I have watched some of your earlier videos and found them a little too technical initially. You have pitched these recent ones at a perfect level for a ‘newbie’ like me!
Thank you so very much for this video series! I got this camera to use in a point and shoot mode for birding a few years ago. But every once in a while I run into some issue I can’t seem to correct and I think these videos will help tremendously. I do have a cursory knowledge of aperture/shutter speed/iso etc, but only cursory it has been decades since I used a manual 35mm (still used film then too). I really appreciate that you took the time to put these out. Thanks again!
Thank you Graham for these super videos. I have recently bough a FZ82 and I am very pleased with the results so far, I like taking photos of aircraft against bright summer skies . I have some fairly poor phots using other cameras. Really enjoyed your first video looking forward to the others. Brilliant videos aimed just right!
I bought this camera as I wanted to take better photos. I find it complicated with all the buttons and dials but you explain very well. I am going to Greece in July and hoping to get some really lovely photos.
Great video! I've ordered your book off Amazon based on what I've seen of your teaching style. Thanks for making such an effort to create these videos.
Tip top tutorials- I have the 330 and been thru those but these are also of value - expertly explained and demonstrated-I’d love to see a video on how to best photograph birds as that’s my thing !
Static birds are always a delight to capture - like the robin and heron in the tutorial. Birds in flight are extremely challenging for this type of came due to the focussing system used. But it's not impossible if you use burst mode to get at least a couple of images. I'll try and include that in this series.
@@GrahamHoughton12 hopefully you did cover this Graham. Like others I’m still learning to use this camera…and also mainly use it whilst birding. My main issue apart from focusing is trying to photo birds in flight against a bright sky. I usually use the LCD screen on the back and invariably the bird doesn’t seem to show up making it difficult to take a photo. I appreciate it’s a bridging camera but hoesntly I’m not too bothered about great shots, but I do want to take photos to help with identifications.
Excellent tutorial video Graham showing examples of real life photo taking that can be applied to any camera and has made me take second look at using the Ai/Ai+ mode on my cameras. Great videos as always 😊
Thank you very much Graham for doing these tutorials for the FZ82, they're excellent and learning so much from you, and have watched the previous series a few times in the 2 years I've had my FZ82. I couldn't work out a couple of issues i was having, so I bought your FZ82 book recently from Amazon and it is brilliant, I've solved the issues I've had. Once again thank you very very much.
Hello Graham, I never had thought or believed that the Lumix FZ series were that good for taking serious photographs. After accidentally bumping on to this channel, especially your Lumix beginner video’s, this has started it all again for me. It has given my “old” but rarely used, MINT NOS😉 DMC-FZ48 a new lease of life. A lot of advices in your lumix FZ 80-82 for beginners videos are (in my novice experience) in most cases, also applicable for older Lumix cameras to some extend, am I right? I enjoy each and every Lumix video presented by you, clear and honest advice what to do, to use, not to do, etc. my photographic skills improve day by day, thank you!
beltin videos Graham. I've just bought this camera, as I've always use point and click cameras, better watching your videos that trying to read the instructions.
Thanks to this tutorial, which I watched many months ago when I got my camera, I learned how to use AI+ for my birding photography. I am now going to also apply the manual mode for those birds behind branches and see if I can make that work. I am so glad you addressed that issue. However, the bottom of the screen did not show in your video where you said all the settings recorded aperture speed, etc. I don't understand the terms and I can't find it on my screen. I wish I could see it somewhere.
I find these videos very interesting. Thanks to you I am learning to use my Lumix FZ80 Camera. Unfortunatly last week I dropped my camera, what should I look for to see if my camera is damaged? A video on this subject would be interesting. Regards, Ivan from Malta.
Hey Graham, great video but you should turn off the video/image stabalization of the canon sx740 while filming on your rig. When the camera is moving the motion sensor is picking up your movement and the camera is trying to compensate for that which results in the wiggle in your footage.
You are an excellente teacher ! I see your videos daily. I want to know about de ISO. Above 100 ISO the pictures are grainy for me. I take birds´pictures and its difficult to me to take a good picture. Do you have any tips for me? Thanks in advance.
I can only echo what others have said brillaint series and thank you for making them. I do have a question about this camera, I used my last bridge camera to take some shots of the Humber bridge in the fog at twilight, the dampness killed it, the camera never worked properly again. Can I use the Panasonic in damp conditions or will it go the same way.
Hi' Gramam . I have a Lumix fZ82. I cannot seem to change the settings. It keeps taking more than one photo. I just want to take one photo at a time. Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thank you. Simon.
I'm an amateur and bought this camera, as my first câmera... The problem that the camera produces a lot of noise that is heard more significantly when zoom is applied, I am really sad with my camera.
I have enjoyed using this camera. The main hassle is that sometimes the zoom gets a bit "stuck" so tells me to turn the camera off then on. So then the bird flies away.
@@danielislam9144 yes it's very good for bird photography except in low light (small sensor). Have gotten lots of bird reference pics for paintings though. For a low price (got it on special which was an extra bonus). Think this camera might have been discontinued.
Hi Graham, I recently bought the fz82 and I really do enjoy shooting with the camera (also thanks to your great tutorials). Anyway I have a question fot you. I mostly use the camera for birdphotography, and thus use most of the times long focal lengths. Today I took some landscape shots with smaller focal lengths (20-40) and noticed the RAW files having a vignette, this occurs around the 20-25mm range. Also the RAW files are distorted (bended) up to around 40 mm. In JPEGs, however, these problems are resolved, but the image is slightly cropped. So is this normal, or is there something wrong with the camera and should I return it? I could not find anything about this online. Greetings, Rick
The camera manufacturers normally provide a RAW profile for use in editing programs. This profile adjusts for vignetting, lens distortion and chromatic aberrations. The JPEG has been processed in camera using these settings and that is why you don't see the problems. So it depends what 3rd party RAW editor you are using if there is a means of switching on the RAW profile. The programs light Lightroom Photoshop ACR and affinity photo 2 do have profiles. Some open source programs like darktable and rawtherapee also include the option. So no there is nothing wrong with the camera . Don't forget if you have the RAW file in the camera you can use the Raw processing option in the replay menu to adjsut how your JPEG is produced - a very useful feature as it is non destructive to the original camera file.
It's a camera that doesn't like hand held shooting - the video codecs seen to give an uneasy watch as elements of the picture are changing as the camera moves and the codec hasn't caught up. On a tripod the 4K video I find is very useful and easy to pull good stills from the MP4 file if you shoot with a faster shutter speed than normally prescribed for video of twice the frame rate. I use 1/500 in manual mode.
... I've never seen a camera create so much anxiety. I have been snapping photos since the early 60's and even I have difficulty with it. It's a great photographic tool but is overly complicated. It is a 24/7 type of thing , if you don't use it , you'll lose it.
