YES! Finally found this video! Some of the footage was used in one of my favorite VHS tapes from my childhood: Choo Choo Trains Close Up and Very Personal!
This was a pretty cool excursion service journey with Nickel Plate Road 587 pulling the fair train at the Indiana Transportation Museum in Fishers, Indiana. Before it was put out of service in 2002. Norfolk & Western 1218 had also did a great job in this film for just a short time, even though it’s sad the locomotive has discontinued excursion servicing since 1994. However for Norfolk & Western 611, it did a wonderful operation in this film before being put out service in 1994, and displayed at the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke, Virginia for the next 20 years until 2015. It’s still in service to this day. I did got to see the locomotive in operation back in September 5th 2021 at the Strasburg Railroad during it’s visit.
I love this video, it's my absolute favorite railroad documentary! 587 is my favorite steam engine in the world. I saw her three times before ITM closed, and I hope to ride behind her at least once in my life.
587 actually wore 2 whistles in her lifetime, her original NKP 5 chime from 1918 to 1989, and another NKP 5 chime from her sister which she wore until retirement.
Not exactly. None of these locomotives shared the same exact model of the whistle. Also the Polar Express train is actually modeled after Pere Marquette #1225 for the computer-generated namesake movie. Another thing, 587 has a Nathan 5 chime.
Hopefully in the future we’ll hear some news on 587 as there hasn’t been much news on the engine since 2021 when its ownership was transferred to an anonymous person who is working with KSHC. And while the engine is no longer apart of itm and the museum itself hasn’t been doing the best since the mid 2010s, I do hope 1 of two things will happen in the future. We’ll find out what comes next for 587 and if itm might ever make a comeback

As Ryker begins to walk past him, Edith begins to talk to him.) Edith: You... You're ITMs angel. Ryker: Yes, I am. Edith: Come to save us. Ryker: I'll try to. Edith: Nothing left to save, not here... Ryker: I know. Edith: You're in the Kentucky Steam Heritage Corps home, angel. Their home. A million pairs of eyes are on you now. Watching, waiting, hungry. They want nothing more than to crawl beneath your skin and eat away at you bit by little bit. Riker: Wow, so the KSHC is all up to this. Edith: Fill whatever feels empty inside themselves. That... thing... the KSHC. Kentucky is his god, and this is what he does to heretics. Ryker: Wait, so Kentucky is the one that's causing all of this? No wonder I've been encountering these crazy trains. Edith: These little trains follow the KSHC to avoid that very fate, and in return they are fed. We tried to fight it, Kentucky's control. I'm... the last of the NKP Mikados. Listen to me, you need to get out of this place. You need to live. Ryker: No, I'm not leaving you here. I need to save you. Edith: You and ITM could fix this, end this madness, the torment... (The mini Mikados approach Edith.) Edith: Oh no... OH NO! Leave me. Please. Just go!... RUN! (Screams as the mini Mikados slowly enter him. Ryker watches on horror as the Mikados power slowly overpower Edith, making him choke.) Ryker: OH MY GOD!!!! (The power of the mini Mikados overwhelms Edith, turning him into a monster. The strength of the Mikados makes him tear down the cables holding him up, and he slowly crawls out of the cage, crawling towards Ryker.) Ryker: I got to get out of here! (Ryker turns around and runs for his life, with Edith right behind him. However, with the added weight of the Grab Pack, his running speed is severely limited, giving Edith an advantage. Soon, more of the tiny Mikados appear.) Ryker: Oh, come on! I knew it was a good idea to not come here. (He shoots flares from his flare gun, scaring the Mikados away. He runs through several buildings until he finally finds an exit. Using his purple hand, he is able to jump over the crack and the door closed automatically. After that, he hears screaming.) Ryker: Oh my God. Edith is dead. (Despite of what just happened, he must press on.)
