39:55 I still remember when my grandpa got me a DVD set that included this video, and we watched this and he was surprised when Pere Marquette 1225 had the "Polar Express" lettering on the side. It was only through here that I learned that the steam locomotive in the Polar Express was based off the 1225.
When I was much younger, and watched this on DVD, I didn't know that the Pere Marquette railroad existed, and when the narrator explained that 1225 had come from there, I originally thought that it was Polar Express in some other language, lol.
I love the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad! #488 is my favorite steam locomotive! 1:07:25 I love the instrument of Chama New Mexico it’s so peaceful! 1:30:17 till 1:31:23
This was the very first time I saw many of these steam locomotives, and the first railroad related thing I remember watching, making it a core memory of mine!
Cass Scenic Railroad: Very cool historic logging operation heritage railroad with their Shay steam locomotives. Along with their single Heisler #6, which currently is at the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad for their Durbin Rocket excursions in Durbin, West Virginia. We all know that Climax #9 is in operation at the Cass Scenic Railroad since 2019, and it was a very special edition to Cass. I hope one day to see the Cass Scenic Railroad soon. Soo Line 1003: Another unique steam engine. It’s quite cool to see the engine making some special photo freight runs. I hope one day to see the engine pulling excursion trains. Pere Marquette 1225: Another beautiful steam locomotive. Very cool. Famous for it’s appearance in the 2004 movie Polar Express. Grand event. It’s one of my favorite steam locomotives of all time. Grand Trunk Western 6325: Very cool 4-8-4 “Northern” in service at the Ohio Central. It is a shame that the engine didn’t operated very long in excursion service, but hopefully one day the engine will get the chance to return back to operational service. Cumbres & Toltec: Beautiful former Denver & Rio Grande Western narrow gauge rail line between Chama, New Mexico and Antonito, Colorado, with their K-36 class 2-8-2 “Mikado” locomotives.
A correction about Pere Marquette 1225: the school where she was placed is not the University of Michigan; its Michigan State University. In fact, her old display site is near the school's Spartan Stadium.
@@damiancameron3614 The one that's on 484 in this video has a casting flaw, and by 2010 was too worn out to sound properly. It's a shame because it was such a unique sounding whistle on that line!
I only know that Shay #11 used a Reading 6 chime for one shot, but for the other Shays and Heisler #6, I honestly don’t know. They swap a lot of whistles all the time, and even I can’t tell them apart.
5:00 gives me chills. Hearing the engines whistle out and it echoing is truly astonishing
My favourite Train is the Pere Marquette #1225
I Love The PM 1225 also known as Polar Express
45:31 "Outta my way!"
As a kid I had most of the collection and I would constantly watch them on car rides
6325 is BY FAR my favorite steam locomotive!

I distinctly remember watching this one as a kid. Good to see it on RUclips. Brings me back to a simpler time

Always happy to see 6325
I'm Liking This Already 😁😁😁
@1:27:02 I believe that location is called Tanglefoot Curve. BTW I love 484’s whistle. It sounds so haunting and gorgeous
"Tanglefoot" is more of a railfan name. Rio Grande railroaders mostly called it the "Cumbres Loop".
@@RailwayProductions oh ok. Sorry
I remember the Ohio locomotive, it was displayed for years, at the old GT depot, off Main Street, in Battle Creek, not far from the Post ceral plant.
Hi, RailwayProductions, sorry I missed the premiere of Steam in the Spring.
I hope the Ohio central number 6325 will be there!
you want 6325 to be steamed.

I note that Pere Marquette 1225 is wearing "Polar Express" painted on both sides of her tender!
Why did jerry Jacobson sell Ohio Central
