Teralith is exactly what I wanted from modded biome generation, new ways of using the blocks already there, rather than adding new blocks and wood types that only look good in their biome of origin and even sometimes not then. Wood kinda has to work with most of the other wood types at least somewhat decently, in my opinion.
Terralith is an AMAZING mod! It adds biomes and enhances the generation of terrain. Not many terrain generation mods do that. The only problem is that I cant run it without the mod cutting my FPS in half. Edit: Terralith 2.0 gives far better Fps than the original terralith mod. Just so ya know.
If the FPS drop is caused by world gen (as opposed to the terrain itself being demanding to render), there should be mods that can pre-generate a world for you so it doesn't need to be generated during gameplay.

I had an issue getting a data pack to work on realms as well. What fixed it: start a single player world with the data pack installed, enable Lan with cheats, and in the in-game terminal run the command "/reload". If your data packs are set to echo debug messages, you should see them after the reload. You can then save and exit the world, and upload it to your realm.
Props to mojang for working to make the new terrain generation completely customizable through datapacks too, probably made the terralith team’s job quite a bit easier
Hell yeah! Me and my friends used Teralith in 1.17 to replicate 1.18 caves but especially combined with amplified worlds it created a crazy crazy fun world with an insanely difficult spawn point in an absolutely massive, vast ice cave with no trees for miles. It ended up being the best minecraft experience of all time for us, can't wait for a new amplified teralith 1.18 world
its a really cool terrain generation mod, but the thing that i dont like is that its not good for normal survival, because all the blocks doesnt really make sense, example: deepslate at the top at the map on the surface but its overral pretty good if you just wanna mess around on creative mode, or if you just dont care about vanilla experience 👍
Ya I wish terralith was actually balanced, guess I have to wait for simply improved terrain, terraforged or BYG for this level of beauty with some level of balance
Deepslate on top of the surface isnt not "it not making sense" Maybe realistcally a block that is supposed to be made because of the pressure of the world like a metamorphic rock appearing on top of the suface shouldnt be a thing, this is also the game where trees float, dragons are real and we have blaze monsters, creepers etc. I tried it in survival today and its 100% fine (execept some world generation performance, but i played on a PaperMC server and had Sodium on my client so it ran smooth
And can we please apreciate that they made it possible to just swap out the terralith version 1.6 something in your world with the 2.0 and it just works??? AMAZING!
Ok, that’s amazing. I’ll be honest, I’ve been considering setting up a private server to play with my kids when 1.18 releases and this isn’t a looking like a strong contender for whatever world we decide to play in.
Been using Terralith 2.0 as my datapack in my server for a bit now, used the older versions before I updated to 1.18 and this terrain is absolutely stunning,
I'm still a noob when it comes to using datapacks, but I love that mojang added that functionality. Being able to modify only one world instead of needing a whole new minecraft install is convenient, no doubt, but also super exciting because then you can share that modded world file with friends that can't be bothered getting forge or fabric up and running, or have a computer that can't handle mods.
I love 1.18's generation, large cliff and mountain faces, the rivers, and man the scale of the plains is amazing but I want MORE and all of a sudden I found myself here.
You know, the fact that this is datapack means this thing works for forge and fabric. And since 1.18 forge is aleardy out, I think modders should make 1.18 mods and modpacks that can beat RLCraft modpack popularity, because seriously, with the new height and new terrain generation, the possibility will much more bigger than before. And don't get me started that because it is datapack, you can add it on your server easily.
When I saw that they released Terralith 2.0 ASAP, I had to download it. I spent a whole day just exploring in creative and marveling at the terrain. Started a survival server with the boys and we just couldn't decide where to settle for a base lol. Ended up picking a beautiful snowy mountain made of stone and slate; planted a castle on it. Gotta love Terralith, man.
With or without shaders this mod is hands down perfect, this opens up so much more to the game. Also the skylands are incredible and nostalgic for me cuz i played skylanders when I was young :)
It does work on realms with a small workaround, you just need to load the pack in singleplayer open LAN, type "/reload" and then set the world in realms.
