Hello loves,
I am taking you all through a few days in my life in Amsterdam! You might find that this video is unlike a lot of my past day in the life videos. I am not cooking as much in this video, sharing as many recipes, or even the products that love like I normally always do with you all. I wanted to film this with being as present in the moment and as raw as possible with you all. I get into some deep talks about what Max and I see for our futures together, as well as where we are currently in life right now! It has been such an amazing couple of months living in Europe. I love how my daily routine changes a bit when I am back home in Amsterdam versus when I am in Los Angeles. The change in pace here is so different, where I found myself waking up and working out a little later in the mornings than I normally do in LA, which I actually really loved! The mornings and days just felt a lot slower even though we were still working just as hard here as we would back in LA.
As you all know, I have expressed so much how I love being in Amsterdam. Max and I have been really taking intentional time to think about our future together now that we are a married couple, and where we see each other spending the most time together, and I can definitely say that Amsterdam holds a special place in our hearts. As some of you may have noticed, Nekohama has been really taking off here in Amsterdam, and we are so excited to see where that goes in the upcoming months here. I will definitely keep you all posted on what cafes and restaurants in Amsterdam where you can get some of our delicious Nekohama matcha!

I'm an American, but can really attest how lovely life is in Europe(an countries) in general (I now live in a Scandinavian country) The culture, the pace of life, the quality of food, the fact that in general you can walk/bike everywhere, the great work-life balance and amazing health insurance structure, affordable healthcare, outdoor lifestyle, etc. etc. Do what your heart tells you Sanne, we (I) will always be your supporter (have been from day 1!) xoxo

As a European living in New York I always feel the same when spending time in Europe. On balance I would say there are pros and cons to either place. Perhaps a change from LA would do you both good?

Cause so many people are just always running around and never feel they can settle. It looks like he feels like he can settle with you. Which is an amazing sign. I guess he really loves you. The good news for you both are that you can work anywhere with your professions. ❤ I lived in Germany and the Netherlands for 8 years, and I always want to go back to stay. The quality of life is better including the work life balance. I also love how active you can be there. It’s not a normal part of life in the US where you have to find time to work out. You also save so much on drive time in Europe! 😅 My profession is harder to move back and forth but if you can, I’d say go for it! My friend who is Dutch and married to an American moved back recently and she is soooooo happy she did. ❤
We are very grateful for our professions and where we can work from almost anywhere! 🫶🏻

I've lived in Amsterdam for my whole live. Recently, I started to doubt if it is still the best place for me and my familiy as I has become busier and more fast paced in the last years. But, your vlogs make me appreciate 'my' city more again. Thank you!
I love Amsterdam. I went there for the first time last year in November (for work) and I loved it. I definitely want to go back again just for pleasure and not for work.
Happiness is a choice, but don't lie to yourself while you do it. Amsterdam, for you, looks like Shangralaii. In the video, I see freedom of feeling. I assume you like to feel nature, and in Amsterdam, you do in more ways than one. I have heard you say no one gets out and walks in L.A...At any rate, Katsu looks like he was laughingly happy. I heard something the other day that I'd like to pass on. Marriage is not a contract; it's an ongoing negotiation. Love u 2!

Spin classes are THE best workouts ever! I used to do Les Mills Spinning and let me tell you.. best 30 minutes of my life 😌

It would be a great idea to move to the NL for so many reasons. Plus you are close to your family, which does a lot in terms of happiness (for me at least). I also want to move back to my country, despite I like living in the NL

What an amazing deep video. I really love and applaud you for putting this out there. I moved to the UK when I was 19 and lived there for 5 years. When I was there I felt the most free and relaxed I've probably ever felt in my life, but it's tricky because I am from the US. My family is here and there's a lot of work opportunities here. The older I get the more I weigh out if I should go back to where I feel most at ease or stay where theirs more opportunity and my family and foundation is. I feel lucky to have these choices, but that doesn't make them any easier.
Find out where you are the happiest, where you're purpose is at the moment. Is it family right now, or more work, or... ? :) Best Wishes

It's a big decision for sure and you need to listen to you and your gut and of course your hubby but Netherlands is so so amazing. I know I'm partial but Europe is so much better than USA for living. Nevertheless I just love seeing you happy!

Sanne, hi! My husband is Dutch and everything you said about Amsterdam resonates so much! We were there over the summer and it felt like such a welcomed reprieve from the grind we live in California, in all the ways you described. I am ready to pack our bags! He warns me that I haven’t experienced a Dutch winter yet, which is true and a fair point. Curious for your opinion - are winters truly that awful? 😊
Maybe compared to LA the winters here are 'awful', but really compared to other countries where it gets muchhhh colder it's really not that bad here don't worry haha. It barely even snows anymore lol, so the coldest it gets on average in the recent years is 0 degrees celcius.
There is no comparison between Europe and US! The choice is clear!

How did you fly with your golden retriver? We have one too and we are anxious to travel with him since big dogs cannot be with the owners during the flight in the most of the cases. I miss Amsterdam, I like it a lot!

Curious, why did you speak English to the server at the end of the video? (Instead of Dutch) Loved this video and love Amsterdam. I would love to see more of NL and get your recommendations for other cities /towns, etc.
Since Amsterdam is so international, a lot of people that work there actually don’t speak Dutch! 😊

Question from a fellow Amsterdam-and-dog-lover 🤗: How did you find having a dog in this city? Sometimes I feel like it would be totally doable and I should just go for it and sometimes I'm like: no this is not the place to live with a dog. How did you experience it?
I can say that a dog needs a lot of Time, attention, and just always loves to be outside. I had a Dog in the City and always felt bad because I almost never felt like he was totally satisfied. And I wanted him to be so happy. I even thought about moving to the countryside (a garden or better a forest where he can run freely And Safe). A Dog is like family, like a child
I’ve always wanted to move from uk to USA but recently have learnt the quality of life there is not that great. I want healthy, active, outside in nature, great work life balance, laid back and 30 days of annual leave - I don’t think you get that.
